"but we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God." 2 Corinthians 4:2 ASV "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV God blesses! Well one would have to get technical. But yes Gibs has been saying that technically speaking. He claims it's Christ's Righteousness IN him that saves him. I believe that JoeMo has been saying that it was the Righteousness of Christ at the CROSS that has saved each individual that wants to be saved. Help me out here JoeMo. But in mind mind - God's Righteousness that works in us to do good works is STILL as filthy rags towards our salvation. It will NEVER be enough to answer the curse of the law. JoeMo Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I'm uncomfortable discussing what Gibs said or didn't say in this forum. What I am comfortable saying is that I unequivicably proclaim that it is the righteousness of Christ's life and the perfect sacrifice He made at the CROSS that is the sole source of eternal life for every individual that wants to be saved. I'm not gonna quote all the scriptures that back this up (I would have to quote half of the NT); but if you want a few references, try John 3:16-17; John 6:28-29, Eph. 2:7-8; Gal. 3:1-6; Gal.5:2-4; Romans 8:31-39;Jude 1:24; Romans 5:10-11; 2Cor.5:17-19; Col 1:19-22. JoeMo Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 SDA Fundamentals 10 (Experience of Salvation) and 11 (Growing in Christ) also speak of our salvation by grace. These Fundamentals have been a guiding light to SDAs for over 30 years; and are part of the foundation of our faith. If we are truly members of this church, we will accept them as part of our belief system. Read what the Fundamentals say at http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/fundamental/index.html. Anyone interested can find hundreds of other references. You seem to forget JoeMo that is not the point I am contending with. I am contending none will be saved committing sin and that we are expected to overcome the same. That there is a part man must take hold of even though very small that it can be accomplished in us. This is what He is trying to do for us. He is working with us to give us what it takes that we can do that. A heart and soul not emtied of sinning cannot inherit the kingdom. If he took such into it, the same old problem would begin to flourish again. The continuing in sin sinner can not appropriate the above things you point out. I fully understand of those. I find what EGW says here is so very true in so many cases today, "There is hope for every one of us, but only in one way—by fastening ourselves to Christ and exerting every energy to attain to the perfection of His character. This goody-goody religion that makes light of sin, and that is forever dwelling upon the love of God to the sinner, encourages sinners to believe that God will save them while they continue in sin and know it to be sin. This is the way that many are doing who profess to believe present truth. The truth is kept apart from their life, and that is the reason it has no more power to convict and convert the soul. There must be a straining of every nerve and spirit and muscle to leave the world, its customs, its practices, and its fashions." . . . {CTr 81.2} Notice whose name is not blotted out of the book of life. Re 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. LifeHiscost Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 Quote: A heart and soul not emtied of sinning cannot inherit the kingdom Which is correct. And the old man of sin upon dieing doesn't keep the sinful heart. Which is doubly true when the living righteous are translated at Jesus' return. According to some statements here, some believe that the new heart given was not empty when given to the new believer, but needed to be emptied. So are we willing to accept these Words? "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV "For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”"Hebrews 10:14-17 NKJV "If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action]."1 John 1:9 AMP brackets parenthesis their's LHC God blesses! JoeMo Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Some people insist on tying our redemtion to sin and what they call "repentance". "Repentance" is defined in some cirles as "changing your mind" or "changing the way you think" or "turning around". I would propose that simply changing our mind from "planning to sin" to "avoiding and resisting sin" is a false and half-baked form of repentance. Whether we are planning to sin or avoiding sin, our focus is still on sin! If our heart is constantly focused on sin (whether committing it or avoiding it); our flesh is still focused where our heart is - on sin. I further propose that full, true repentance is completely changing our focus from being on sin to being on our Savior. When one's mind and heart are totally caught up in the wonder and amazingness of God's grace and love; who has the time or energy to obsess over sin? When one is praising God in their hearts all day long, they are not going to be looking for a demon under every rock or watching for temptations to avoid. The result is the same - overcoming sin in one's life. One way is by sheer will power and self-control (a hard row to hoe; with many failures along the way). The other way is by grace and power writing God's character on your heart - we tend to emulate our heros. Comparatively, this is pretty easy and satisfying with a lot of victory to encourage you. Gibs Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 No our focus JoeMo is in walking with Him as we desire to do His Will completely. The fruit of that will be overcoming as He did. He sure does give us power to walk with Him and He extends His Mighty Hand and we have no excuse to fail. Sin we know is what He hates, He Loves us and has done all that could possibly be done that we with His help, merits, strength that we can accomplish it. It is the true saving way of salvation that all should easily see if not led off by false teachers. Do not be beguiled! He has made a way for us to overcome as He did and that is the reason of His and our Father's great mission for us. That is why He became a man, fallen, with our propensities to sin. He is our example of how it can be done with the Divine Nature within as He Had! This all need to see and understand, we can be conquerors if we will but fall in with Him. Not works! Not legalism! But it is His Saving way for all who will come! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. JoeMo Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Gibs, I have no problem "in walking with Him as we desire to do His Will completely". I agree 100%. However, desiring to do His will completely and actually doing His will 100% of the time are two different things ... I desire to have $10 Million and have the health and vitality I had when I was 30 (or 40 or 50) years old. But it ain't happening! Neither am I able to do God's will 100% of the time. That's why I continue to need a Savior. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me and and dressing me in your robe of righteousness! JoeMo Quote

If you are enabled then you could say "I am Holy...I'm sinless", but you can't. Why? You have to submit...Ah, but there's a problem - Christ will never help you grow if you are depending on what He does in you for your ticket to heaven. Why? Because it denies the gospel and "in Him" you stand perfect now & the judgment. Quote
