Gibs Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 We hear so much of love. Love is very, very powerful. God is Love. God is Truth. God is Just. God does not change, we can trust Him. He loves each and every one of His creatures dearly and does to each only for their good. He has no pleasure in punishing any in any way. He want us to have in us His Godly Love. Well no doubt we can not have as great a love as He does but is the answer to our pleasing Him. We need and must have the love of God in our hearts. De 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might De 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, When we love Him with ALL our heart and with ALL our soul how much is left for another master? Our inquiry at this point should be, what other master, I have none! But know this, you prove you do when not doing His will but that of the usurper master regardless of how little a matter you regard it. God has always had His set of laws and they have been in the Ark of the Covenant in the Heavenly Sanctuary from all eternity. Satan was the first lawbreaker, he did not love God with all his heart and soul. He took on at least an equality complex and disagreeing that he and the angels needed a law for a guide. He showed he loved self more than God. True Love if in us is the embodiment of our God’s law in us. If not, we do not have the Love of God. Who else’s love should we have? Satan’s? I think not. When we truly love God with all our heart and soul we have the Love of God in us. Then and only Then is His Law in our hearts and souls. Then what is our pleasure to do? His total will for us, as it is now in our hearts and souls. In all reality when He says, - - Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. He is telling us, If you do truly love me you will keep my commandments as it your desire and love to do. Don’t you see now you are not under the law no more as the law is in you and a part of you that is the natural thing you want to do. Love, the Love of God in us is the power of obedience we all need and must have. Then on top of this because man has become so weakened He has made it that He will come and dwell in us to strengthen us that we may walk as He walked this earth as one of us. This cannot be the case though until a complete surrender is made and self and pride killed that He can be the total Master in us. Then we have full power needed to be the victorious overcomer He must have us to be to be a safe subject for His Kingdom. Yes, yes God is love and He wants us to be of Him, with Him and for Him in all things at all times. This especially is a truism for us down here at the end of this reign of sin when Satan’s power has become so great over mankind. He is our Master of whom we obey and do the will of! Let us not give one little bit to Satan the destroyer, let us boycott him entirely. We can, He in us is stronger than Satan. With His Love and His indwelling we are more than conquerors! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. JoeMo Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 I really appreciate your heart, Gibs. It is indeed unfortunate that we broken humans have an uncanny ability to disappoint and discourage those we love the most (like God, our wives, and our children). We usually do this unconsciously; but sometimes we do it on purpose. See how often it happens right here on CA (I pray that it will stop)!Sin is big; but our God is WAY bigger than any sin; and He is able and willing to forgive whenever we go to the throne of grace for forgiveness and mercy. Praise his Holy Name! Be Blessed, brother, JoeMo Quote

Gibs Posted August 23, 2012 Author Posted August 23, 2012 Loss Of Her First Love? Do read this quote from EGW, it will make you think! "The word of God cannot bend to men's liking. It requires obedience full and free. Will the church that professes to keep the commandments of God keep them in truth? Shall we be able to select a better guide, a better standard than is given us in the word of God? Why then do we kindle a fire, and walk in the sparks of our own kindling? The Eternal has opened up a path for us to travel which leads to the open gates of Paradise. Can we by following our own will and choosing to walk in our own way find a pleasanter path? What can spread sunshine through the soul as does the sense of sins forgiven? What can impart true nobility, if not restoration to the favour of God? Pure and undefiled religion means to love God supremely and our neighbour as ourselves. Could we understand the great loss we sustain in not following the Lord fully as directed in the wonderful prayer of Christ, so full of mercy and truth, we would make haste and repent, and be converted. To disregard this prayer is to quench the love of God in our hearts. {PrT, January 26, 1893 par. 7} If those who profess to believe the present truth loved God supremely, and their neighbour as themselves, would there be so little done in presenting the truth to those about us? Every soul is to seek to be a blessing to others. Souls are perishing for the word of life, but the loss of her first love has left the church in blindness, and destitute of the blessings it is her privilege to enjoy. Lacking the power of God, he fails to accomplish the work of God. When we gather about the great white throne, before the Judge of the living and the dead, what excuse can we render to God for having failed to obey His word, failed to represent Christ before the world? {PrT, January 26, 1893 par. 8} OK, how much do you truly love God? Enough I hope that His Law is in the heart. God is Love, and now, how powerful is God? So I ask you, is there power in Love, especially if it is His Love instilled in you? With His Spirit and Love in you are not all things possible to you to do His Will Fully? 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. cheddar Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Once again another essay on human love or ‘phileo’ in the greek. The greek language had 4 words for love where english has only one (agape, phileo, eros and storge). Eros which is sexual love is not used in the bible and storge is the love expressed between family members. This leaves the two most commonly used in the bible. Agape which is God’s love and phileo which is human love. Jesus showed Peter the difference between the two in John 21: Jesus: Simon…do you love (agape) me more than these? Peter: Yes, Lord; you know that I love (phileo) you. Jesus: Simon…do you…love (agape) me? Peter: Yes, Lord, you know that I love (phileo) you. Jesus: Simon…do you love (phileo) me? Peter: [Grieved] “Lord…you know that I love (phileo) you.” After his conversion Peter was not so bold to think that he could express (agape) love. Agape comes only from God. We cannot generate this type of love we can only receive it from God. The new covenant commands us to love God supremely and our neighbors as ourselves and herein lies the difference between old covenant commands and new covenant commands. Old covenant commands can be performed with effort and will-power but this does not work with love and faith as Peter’s life demonstrates. Both are the gifts of God and the Holy Spirit. This is why Gib’s – ‘we can do it’ gospel is the lie of Satan and a rehash of the children of Israel’s – ‘all that the Lord hath said will we do and be obedient’ (Ex. 24:7). The battle cry of the old covenant. Quote
Gibs Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 The old covenant and the new both have the same standard, the Royal Law. The new was the true blood shed, the old, the blood of animals pointing to the true. Salvation for both were from the blood of Christ. They had to look forward, we have to look back. Both are of faith. The "we can do it" gospel is not the lie, the lie is what Satan stated, man cannot keep God's law. Did Paul propagate the lie or was it Satan, read, Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. The true love of God in us will beget obedience. It loves what He loves and all else is abhorrent. We must have His Divine Natue within us. We then are dead to sin and alive in Him and He in us, Ro 6:1 ¶ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Ro 6:2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? There is no agape love in the new false gospel that one can be saved in sin and continuing sin. That is a fallacy and the lie of Satan being propagated for itching ears wanting to hold on to sin and take it into Heaven. It will not happen you may well be assured. Here is what is the matter, men do not want to put away their sins. They will wrest and twist to make it that Christ made a new and easier way. The way of salvation has not changed and made easier for man to day is a lie. This time prophesied has come, 2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. Was saved in sin and continuing sin part of the 1888 message of righteouness by faith. An absolute NO! Did Jesus tell this man to do something he could not do? Joh 5:14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. Eze 18:31 Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel? His Agape Love in you, His Divine Nature and you can be victor over all things. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 You stated, "They can't do it, so they've quit, given up and surrendered all to Jesus." No they've given up and surrendered to Satan, discontinued the good fight of faith. Ro 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? 2Ti 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. When we die of this life the Holy Spirit seals us either as we were comitting sin and continuing sin or we will be overcomers and sealed as such. We will be raised the same as when we went to sleep, of this life, and so then there is only two resurrections and the ones sealed overmers will be the only ones in the first., Read, RRe 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. Re 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. JoeMo Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Gibs, I may not agree with you concerning the relationship between our works and our salvation; but you are right on the money concerning how our works impact our witness. What credibility can we claim if we, as believers, are indistinguishable from the world? Didn't Jesus say the world would know we were His followers by how we love one another? Love of God and love for each other (including our adversaries) are the two great commendments; and they are our most powerful witnesses. Quote
Gibs Posted August 24, 2012 Author Posted August 24, 2012 Our works JoeMo is not to earn our salvation in no way shape or form. He made it so we could be empowered to be overcomers and He does the work in us. There is no works on our part to it, just full surrender and death of the old man and Him and His love dwelling in us then doing His entire will from our desire to do so. We have become of Him, for Him and with Him in all things and not a trifle left for Satan. Here is a short word from EGW, " Here in this life is the testing, trying time. The angels of God are watching the development of character, and weighing moral worth. The whole question is settled in this, Is he obedient or disobedient to the commandments of God? has the sinner been transformed in this world, through the merits of Christ, to an obedient servant, so that he is fitted to join the heavenly society and be accepted as a joint heir with Christ? If this happy work has been wrought in us, then we may sing the praises of Him who hath called us out of darkness into his marvelous light." {RH, July 21, 1891 par. 16} He then continues no longer in sin, it is abhorrent to Him! 4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. JoeMo Posted August 24, 2012 Posted August 24, 2012 Amen Gibs, Grace not only gives us salvation, it empowers us to be overcomers. It is up to us to use that grace to overcome. If at first we don't succeed, God will give us more grace. He never runs out of grace! praise his holy Name! Quote
Gibs Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 Without Jesus Christ man has no hope. We each must have His Merits applied in our behalf that He can give to us His Robe of Righteousness. We have no merits of our own. All our righteousness is as filthy rags. What a wonderful wonder He has made it that we can be given power to be overcomers as the following verses state, 1Jo 3:6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 1Jo 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. Whom do we love the most? He whom has given us most. He whom has been forgiven the most. Well then how great should our love for such a one be? Great enough that all our heart and soul is given back to Him in love and that we do all things possible to please Him! He only wants of us to do righteousness, so why is any of it galling to us? When we have no other master within we do His total will and love every minute of it. He brings us up out of the old wallow in the high way with Him! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted August 25, 2012 Author Posted August 25, 2012 When we truly Love Him with ALL our HEART and SOUL we surely can commune with Him continually. He is Spirit and is Omnipresent and He in us and we in Him it can be and should be a walk with God as Enoch did. When communing with Him would you up and do a known sin? His Law well embeded in your heart you well know what a sin would be! Wouldn't that be the most wonderful walk a man or woman can take. I don't know of any that could prevent it, do you. Satan even cannot do that. Know why? Because, 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
Gibs Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 These verses and what is brought out here by Jesus is well worth our consideration, "he that loveth me"! Joh 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Joh 14:22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Joh 14:23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. Joh 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me. Joh 14:25 ¶ These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. By the Comforter He is manifest to us. If we truly Love Him with All our heart and soul and we have received the Comforter then we surely can and must do His Will. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Robert Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 we must love Him supremely. Ah, but you can't force love or love ain't love....Also, if God desires sinners to love Him He can't threaten them with torture and fear. God's love is what drives folks to God. Fear, damnation, legalism, etc, well, that ultimately produces good agnostics. Quote
Gibs Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 None, no not one need "fear" God. Reverence and thankfulness is what He deserves as He is Love, righteousness and long forebearing with all who sin and rebel. He loved us so much He made a way that man can be saved and overcome as He showed us it could be done in humanity. He made it so we too could have the same power to overcome the evil as He did. His Father was in Him and He will be in us and Christ is given all power. The evil angels and Satan can see when Christ is dwelling within and he is already a defeated foe for you as long as you abide in Him as He did in His Father. When we truly love Him we love to walk with Him and He welcomes us to do so continually. We show our love by the closeness of the walk. When it is perfected in us in full it will be natural obedience to all His Will for us. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Here is the power of agape love, ""He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." This is the only true test of character. In doing the will of God we give the best evidence that we love God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent. The oft-repeated words of love for God are of no value unless that love is made manifest in the life practice. Love for God is not a mere sentiment; it is a living, working power. The man who does the will of his Father who is in heaven shows to the world that he loves God. The fruit of his love is seen in good works. . . . {RC 79.3} The apostle James saw that dangers would arise in presenting the subject of justification by faith, and he labored to show that genuine faith cannot exist without corresponding works. The experience of Abraham is presented. "Seest thou," he says, "how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?" This genuine faith does a genuine work in the believer. Faith and obedience bring a solid, valuable experience. {RC 79.4} 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Perfect love casts out fear but has great reverence to God and does His Will naturally, and freely. The Love of God in the heart is His agape love. "He who has the love of God shed abroad in his heart, will reflect the purity and love which exist in Jehovah, and which Christ represented in our world. He who has the love of God in his heart has no enmity against the law of God, but renders willing obedience to all His commandments, and this constitutes Christianity. He who has supreme love to God will reveal love to his fellow-men, who belong to God both by creation and redemption. Love is the fulfilling of the law; and it is the duty of every child of God to render obedience to His commandments. . . . {SD 51.2} The law of God, which is perfect holiness, is the only true standard of character. Love is expressed in obedience, and perfect love casteth out all fear. Those who love God, have the seal of God in their foreheads, and work the works of God. Would that all who profess Christianity knew what it means to love God practically. . . . They would have some realization of the infinite holiness of God, knowing that He is high and lifted up, and the train of His glory fills the temple. They would have a powerful influence upon the life and character of those around them, which would work as leaven amid the mass of humanity, transforming others through the power of Jesus Christ. Connected with the Source of power, they would never lose their vital influence, but would ever increase in efficiency. {SD 51.3} His agape love in our hearts is the answer, and He wants us to have it, we just need to receive it. First our stony heart must be broken. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gibs Posted September 4, 2012 Author Posted September 4, 2012 Bros. and Sisters, don't you think we all should examine ourselves to see if we have His Agape Love? How can we know we have it? Are any of the commandments greivious to us? If so it is not completed in us yet. Shows our surrender and falling on Him broken must be done. We must love Him over self! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
