Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted September 3, 2012 Author Administrators Posted September 3, 2012 Final Note before I wrap up this awkward exercise - What you have witnessed is a bit of a peek of what usually goes on behind the scenes. I apologize to anyone offended by the bluntness, including of course, toward Cheddar. Experiences says this is best conducted via PM to avoid a public spectacle and undue embarrassment. My goal is always to correct behavior if at all possible. As a member of a profession whose sworn duty is in part to uphold our cherished value of the freedom of expression, censorship is anathema to my desired way of communication. But as a wise person once said, "Your freedom of speech ends where my nose begins." In the context of this format, the nose is words that are nothing more than personal attacks. We cannot physically attack one another, but when one gets the sense that the verbal blows are the written equivalent of a bunch in the nose, it is time to stop and take a hard look at what we are doing to each other. It is a sad irony that any discussion about the nature of God ever devolves into our worst behavior. It should bring out the best in us, not the worst. I will lock this topic now. I think enough has been said. I had hoped someone would have picked up on this thought and taken the conversation in a refreshingly new direction: I would add the further question for us to give serious reflection and thought - Why does this topic about the fundamental character of the God we serve generate such intense heat? Maybe, God will not have to destroy this earth and the people in it. Maybe we will do that quite on our own. God can then do what He does best, showing His true character. What do you think that would be? Let's move on to that idea... "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
