I'm going to an ordination on Sabbath. It's for a long time pastoral colleague. Great pastor and friend.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Here's what makes it "post-worthy". The candidate is a woman.

Ordination went well. Very spiritual and uplifting experience. I certainly felt the presence of the Lord was there.

If WO is NOT of the Lord, that's pretty scarey.

IF WO was not of the Lord - how could the Lord have been present?

Exactly.

Kind of reminds me of the reaction of observers at Pentecost that didn't recognize the presence of the Lord in that place and assumed an entirely different "spirit" as responsible...

And then there were the doubters willfully rejecting the Spirit by which Jesus cast out demons.

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

Have you ever sensed the presence of the Lord?

Is feeling or emotion ever a part of worship for you or a part of your relationship with the Lord?

You used the words "I felt". I am very unsure of your feelings when comparing them with God's Word. .

How could you possibly be sure of my feelings since you didn't feel them. Is it possible for God's presence to attend an event that he does not sanction?

Of course he can be present.

What? Do you think that God is so mad that he says. "Oh, I'm not coming then, because you didn't listen to me."

The children of Israel wanted a king. God said no. They insisted. God warned them and then blessed the new king. He was there and he blessed. We need to be more mature in our understand of who God is and what he does.

I thought I just said that? Is there an echo in here? So unless you were being less than forthcoming I should be able to assume that the feelings you revealed to us were legitimately felt.

That would be strange. If He went to an event He didn't sanction why would He let anyone know He was there? Wouldn't they assume that His presence was an affirmation of something He did sanction. This situation is getting more bizzare every minute.

Yes.

So, if you posted about the occasions when you experienced the above, situations where I was not also present would I be able to, with absolute certainty, be able to affirm or deny your testimony that you felt the presence of the Lord?

How do you know that your experience of emotion that you felt was genuinely reflective of a real relationship with the Lord and not something else?

Yes, we can all be deceived. That applies to you as much as me, or Laz or whomever you wish. That should make one very cautious about knee-jerk reactions of condemnation to what someone else claims to have experienced. Ones reaction may well be as much a deception as the subjective perception of the observation of, or testimony of another's experience.

That is my point. You really cannot judge what Laz has testified to if you were not there or knowing his mind and heart. Nor can you be so certain that your interpretation and perception is not falsely biased.
