Will the 6000 years on earth end in 2031?

We get this idea from Peter who said in 2 Peter 3:8; "But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (NKJV)

We compare this to the creation week and say that 6000 years is the limit of time on this earth and the millennium is a one thousand year Sabbath for the earth.

Well, in Desire of Ages pg. 759.3, Ellen White says that when Christ died it was about 4000 years after sin entered. It is an approximation as she mentions this 4000 years for other events as well.

So then, in A.D. 31 is when Christ died, and with 2000 years more to go, that would add up to 2031! Right?

Can we use these kinds of figures to identify the last generation on earth?

Luke 12:32 NKJV

I do think that we can indentify the last generation on earth but that may be as far as we can go.

By the Jubilee calendar since the first yr of Adam it has been 3.985 yrs through 1 BC. The yr Adam was put on earth was a Jubilee, a new beginng as are all Jubilees. So I guess if we subracted that from 6,000 we'd have 2015. But we start our year in January and God stats it at the spring equinox. The Jews for the most part started the yr in the fall so does God have to end it exactly at 6,000 I don't know, that is His call but yes this is the time of the last generation we should know I believe from that. We believe the Jubilee calendar is anchored solid as it hits all the known great Jubilee events in the yr they happened.

The following is Jesus's words and he is speaking here in Luke 21 of the last generation.

Lu 21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

Lu 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I would like to learn more about that Jubilee Calendar.

I was sticking to our normal calendars.

I have read all I can find of Enoch Alchemy and he reveals the Jubilee calendar is of God and has been from all past eternity and will run into all eternity future.

The Book Jubilees, or Little Genesis reveals Adams first yr on earth was a Jubilee yr.

Here is a site to go to that I find this man has it right, you can go through it and decide for yourself.

I did that from memory and if it don't work when I test it after submitted I'll be back with a correction, if edit time runs out a short post with just the url.

Actually in Mrs. White's own pen she was quite flexable with the years, the editors when setting it for print made it all consistant and consistant with Usher's chronology.

While I sadly do not remember the reference, in the summer of 1984 while taking Biblical Archaeology from Dr. Gerity we were sent to the White Estate at Andrews and had to read an article Mrs. White wrote that has been neglected (and dare I say rejected) by popular Adventism where she down plays the strict 6,000 year theory, hints that the world can be older and says that what ever age we pick for the age of the earth, just make sure it is fair to scripture.

The geneologies that were counted up by Usher to get our 6,000 have three problems: First the ancient text is so old that is is very hard to translate, the possible translations give us a range from about 6,000 years to about 10,000 years.

The Bible that was used in Judiah in Jesus' time and the Rabbis and people in Jesus' time had added up those ages and had the world 6,000 years old back then. It was a Rabbi a few years before Jesus who was basing on his adding up the texts that started the idea that the 7000th year would be the time of the messiah. When the time passed and nothing happened (except for that troublesome person named Jesus coming and the group called Christians being a pain in the neck) the Jews began to use the translation of the chronologies from the Bibles used by the Jews living in Babylon that had the world only 4,000 years off and therefore Jesus could not be the fullfillment of the 7,000 year theory. But these two families of scripture were still dealing with the fact that they were having trouble translating the ancient text.

The second is that in ancient geneologies, they are not like modern ones that include everyone. Ancient geneologies would only include the important people. There is an excellent article on this problem in Ministry in the spring of 1984. Third they were not necessarly related by blood but it can be by office.

Another issue is, and the language is not my strong point, but apperently the language in Gen 1 (look in the Anchor Bible) leaves some room for things having gone on here prior to the special creation which Graham Maxwell, among others, points out could have well been a way for Lucifer to look at his questions and theories in the great controversy prior to the special creation.

Also, we are basing the theory on Peter's text, which is not intended to give us a cycle, but just is a text talking about how God is in relation to time (also the term "thousand" was not always a set number, it originally ment either a family unit or a military unit and the millitary unit usually consisted of approxamately 10 individuals give or take. Then an Emperor had his military units 100 times larger the average military unit and that is how we got the number. However Thousand years still had it's flexability and it became an educational term over how much time a teacher had to explain to a student) speaking of which I have to get to work, I'm late

But we find the cycles in Leviticus 23 and places in Deuteronomy. The thousand years is not one of them. God did not forget when Leviticus and Deuteronomy were written

The earth at creation had an apparent great age. From reading Enoch Christ made it up of things already here and invisible. He made most things visible. But not all things are made visible yet to us Human beings.

I think that the 6,000 yrs pertains to mankind on this planet if it fell in sin and of course it did. But is it going to be exactly 6,000.

I had read in her writings she had thought the earth to be over 6,000 then and wondered about it. If I run across it again I'll post it.

But she on the other hand realized it was a 6,000 yr plan. I say it is God's call and I am not worried. I know though that we can see it closing in and the years left are not as many as most think I'm sure.

The Jubilee calendar reveals we are close and I know we are from what is transpiring in this sinful polluted world.

I haven't read through all of the above, but I recently saw afilm by a prominent Messianic Jewish Rabbi called the "Harbinger" that stated that most of Judaism believes 2001 and 2008 were Sabbatical years; fo the next one will be 2015. It also stated that the Jews had lost track if the year of Jubilee; but the next possible year of Jubilee would be 2016. Many believe that Jesus will return in a year of Jubilee.

1994 was the last jubilee yr. and it will have to go past 6,000 yrs quite aways to the yr 2043 and 6,000 will be up 2'1/2 months into 2016 as God starts a new yr around our mid march. Will it go 6,027 yrs., I have my doubts on that.

The way all things are escalating that may be it and the time too is to be shortened for the elect's sake. I believe that will be around 75 days or 2'1/2 prophetic mons. So will it be at about the end of our yr. 2015?

I don't know and no man does but we know it is at the doors.

But do get and keep the spiritual houses in tip top order, don't want to be a foolish virgin and half were in the parable.

Awake, awake, the time is at hand!

Alchemy, yes, the 6000 years for the time allotted for the demonstration of sin on this earth is a valid Spirit of Prophecy principle, the 6000 years culminates on the anti-typical Jubilee. The Spirit of Prophecy has over 20 statements regarding this time period. A few years here or there is, of course, insignificant. We also find it very easy to locate the ancient Bible Jubilee. One must confine their study to inspired evidence only, in order to arrive at the truth. If one finds historians in agreement with this inspired evidence, than their records could also be included in the weight of evidence.

The proper place to begin, is by studying the interpretation given by the Originator and Designer of all of the sanctuary types, all 50 years of the cycle, ending with the study of the fulfillment of the culminating ceremony, the Jubilee, and that was fulfilled, of course, by none other than Jesus Christ, Himself.

Josephus, the Jewish historian agrees perfectly with the Jubilee year being 27 C.E. which was the year that Jesus fulfilled the first part of the Jubilee prophecy of Isaiah 61 in the Jubilee year of 27 C.E.

An article in the Advent Review called, “The Year of the Lord's favor”, in the January 5, 1984, Adventist Review, (See cover-page and page 11). stated: “Let the trumpet sound: bells ring out for this new year—a year of jubilee.” . The article actually mentions the occurrence of the Messiah proclaiming the Jubilee on the Day of Atonement of the Jubilee year in the synagogue at Nazareth when He read the Jubilee prophecy of Isaiah 61 and, then, announced, “This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” Luke 4:21.

The next thing one needs to understand is the interpretation that Jesus gave to His “shadow” Sabbaths which are scattered among the spring and fall feast days, in order to recognize the message of the “Latter Rain” and the fulfillment of the closing events of this world's history.

If Christ Himself says "I don't know...", why does His creation continue to play this game??

(Maybe God needs some help...wouldn't be our first attempt at trying to tell Him what He should be doing.....)

CoAspen, I believe you are referring to the day and hour of the second coming of Jesus, I am not referring to that event, that event, incidentally,is not revealed in the sanctuary services. I am referring to the commencement of the anti-typical Jubilee, the second coming of Jesus takes place some number of days after the anti-typical Jubilee commences.

Just for clarification, Its not that Jesus doesn't know the time of His second coming, its just that it is the Father that reveals this information to the living saints at the commencement of the anti-typical Jubilee, it still takes some unknown number of days before Jesus first appears on the earth.

One reason I don't allow questions like that to occupy a lot of my time is because of this.

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today."

Matthew 6:33-34 NLT

Not to mention it seems a waste of time unless a person needs some assurance Jesus is truly going to come when He knows it's the right time.

"He said, “A nobleman was called away to a distant empire to be crowned king and then return. Before he left, he called together ten of his servants and divided among them ten pounds of silver, saying, ‘Invest this for me while I am gone.’"Luke 19:12-14 NLT

I have often wondered if she had realized this verse, I can not find that she ever made reference to it.

Da 8:19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

It may appear as if one needs a better than average education to figure out all the details, just to make sure we have everything we need that we might be ready when Jesus comes. Then where would that put the hapless individual who neither

had the means to get that education, nor the wisdom to see its' benefit?

One need only read Matt 24, and along with that pay attention to the events of the turmoil in the world today, and if you can let Jesus do what He does so well, there can be no doubt we are living in the days of trouble such as never has been and of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

`But this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:

And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;

and also upon My men-servants, and upon My maid-servants, in those days, I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy... Acts 2:16-18 YLT

These things are happening now!!!!

"You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected."

Matthew 24:43 NLT

To "be ready" is an act of creation, the same as "be born again", and if we're using the tools we have in hand to accomplish what we know to be right, there is only one ingredient we need for full assurance we'll enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

"..so also Christ died once for all time as a sacrifice to take away the sins of many people. He will come again, not to deal with our sins, but to bring salvation to all who are eagerly waiting for him."Hebrews 9:28 NLT

Don't forget that EGW also said that if the church had been faithful regarding 1888, the Lord would have come before this.

She made statements before 1888 that Christ could have come soon after the Disappointment of 1844 if God's people had done what God wanted them to do., which was to unite under the power of the Holy Spirit in proclaiming the Three Angels' Messages. That means 1888 was not really necessary for Christ's second advent. The Adventist historian, George Knight, brings up this important point in his book on A.T. Jones.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Will the 6000 years on earth end in 2031?

God is not waiting for a particular time to strike on a big clock somewhere. God is waiting to see a particular spiritual condition in His church.

Christ is waiting for His church to make herself ready for the wedding. See Rev. 19: 7-8.

Notice also Rev. 14: 16, 18. It indicates that the return of Christ occurs when the harvest of the earth is ripe and when "the grapes are fully ripe." This of course requires that the gospel of the kingdom be preached throughout the whole world.

So it's a huge, sad mistake to think Christ will come at a particular time irrespective of what is happening in the church. That is the mistake our early Pioneers made. Let's not make that mistake again. Christ's return doesn't depend on a specific time.

Consider 2 Peter 3: 12--

waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! (ESV) (See also the NIV; NKJV; the NASB; Moffatt; Goodspeed.)

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

It is fast hastening to this time Dan speaks of,

Da 8:19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the last end of the indignation: for at the time appointed the end shall be.

Long ago the time was appointed and Jesus mentioned that.

Mt 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

Mt 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mt 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Mt 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

We need not worry nor have fear, He loves His own and the lambs of His pasture He will save all.

No, my friend, I'm sorry my post came across that way, as all one needs is the faith of a little child, and we all need Jesus to do for us what He did for the disciples. They could not understand what had happened by His death and resurrection, but Luke 24 states, “Then opened He their understanding.” At times, the more worldly education one has acquired the more difficult it is to see the simple truth of just how Jesus fulfilled the feast days and the “shadow” Sabbaths within the sanctuary system. See Leviticus 23:25.

In Deuteronomy 31:10-16 certain ceremonies were specified to be performed in a Sabbatical year. The law was to be read to the women, children and the stranger during the Feast of Tabernacles in the Sabbatical year. These would show the fulfillment to be in a 7th year, the Sabbatical year, when the law of God is the central issue—the mark of the beast or the seal of God.

If you use a literal translation of the Bible it is very easy to understand. If the Bible says it shall be a Sabbath unto you, just believe what it says, that when it is fulfilled it will be on a seventh day Sabbath. If the Bible says “the morrow after the seventh Sabbath” then just believe that it is to be fulfilled on the morrow after the seventh 7th day Sabbath.

How does that play into this 6,000 year discussion?

Excellent question Daryl,

I wouldn't mind talking about "conditional prophecy" and "absolute prophecy".

My short answer to this would be that Jesus absolutely could not come before 1844. Also, there seems to be a time limit of some kind although we don't know exactly when that is.

Somewhere in between these two times is a period where God's people could have shortened the time of Christ's Coming. This conditional time period is limited and I believe almost over, which is why I'm more interested in the "time limit" to all this sin stuff.
