Johnnboy Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Don't forget that EGW also said that if the church had been faithful regarding 1888, the Lord would have come before this. How does that play into this 6,000 year discussion? The statement by EGW just after 1888, when she said that “we would have been in the kingdom two years from that date”, fits in perfectly with the end-time time line of 6000 years. “I saw that Jones and Waggoner had their counter-part in Joshua and Caleb. As the children of Israel stoned the spies with literal stones, you have stoned these brethren with stones of sarcasm and ridicule. I saw that you willfully rejected what you knew to be truth just because it was too humiliating to your dignity. I saw some of you in your tents mincing and making all manner of fun of these two brethren. I also saw that if you had accepted their message we would have been in the kingdom two years from that date, but now we have to go back into the wilderness and there stay forty years.” E.G. White, Melbourne, Australia, May 9, 1892. E.G. White This statement actually fits in perfectly with the specifications Jesus gave to Moses in Leviticus, regarding the time line in God's precisely designed plan of salvation. Let me explain. We all know that the anti-typical Jubilee is associated closely to the second coming, althoughj it is not the second coming, simply because we hear the Father announce the day and hour of Jesus' coming when the Jubilee begins. We also know that the Jubilee trumpet was to be blown on the Day of Atonement and that the Day of Atonement is specified to be a Sabbath by the Sabbath specifications in Leviticus 23:32 “It [shall be] unto you a sabbath of rest,” When Jesus interpreted the Jubilee prophecy of Isaiah 61:1,2 on the seventh-day Sabbath in the synagogue on the Day of Atonement of the Jubilee year, He interpreted, also, the last half of the prophecy that He read, when He said in Luke 4:21,“This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.” Our pioneers used the “Hillel I” calendar to determine the correct day of the month for the Day of Atonement in the year 1844. Using this same calendar, we see that all the Sabbath specifications for the seventh Sabbatical year and the year of Jubilee in 1888 and 1889 occurred with all four of the shadow Sabbaths of the fall feast days falling on seventh-day Sabbaths, the first such alignment in the “Hillel I” calendar since Jesus walked the earth 2000 years ago. We see that now at the end of the 6000 years, 1888 and 1889 (the 49th and 50th years), the two culminating years in the prophetic, typical, shadowy system, was the first of a series of such alignments. But what is so amazing, is that the present perpetual Hebrew calendar, the “Hillel II” used from the middle of the fourth century agrees perfectly with “Hillel I” in the remaining Sabbath alignments in this rare series of alignments that all occur only now at the end of the 6000 years. After these Sabbath alignments one can search the perpetual Hebrew calendar (Hebcal) and one will see that there are no more Sabbath alignments, even though one looks a thousand years farther into the future. These alignments occur only in our day at the end of the 6000 years. Quote

You seem to be suggesting that we can ferret out what God's appointed time is, yes or no? CA, Ya didn't seem to read my quote right. All today should know what an appointed time is. So in answer to the question it could have happened yrs ago if people would have gotten ready. NO! God has an appointed time and it won't happen until. Yes Bro. old Gibs knows the time is very, very close but no man knows the appointment date. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. JoeMo Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I agree with Gibs - God has an appointed time that He has either pre-set or at least has foreknowledge of. He's God; and He knows everything - past, present, and future. He already knows the exact moment that His church will rise to the occasion and be the army of ambassadors we are supposed to be; or the moment His Holy Spirit will make the truth evident to all men - whichever of those events happens. CoAspen Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 So....each generation thinks/feels/believes theirs is the last one, and has been that way for some time. So...is our concern/issue/desire to be about when God comes again or to live our lives everyday as if it were tomorrow? How do we live today, not tomorrow. We have been told by Christ that only God knows, so why not concentrate on walking the talk and living the life of a person who believes they have been saved and desire for others to have the same opportunity? Our life can end at any moment so what is the value of trying to figure out if we are in the last days or at what point in a prophecy we are or other such surmising? What do we feel as followers of Christ is most important?? Quote
Gibs Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 CA, I don't have to do any figuring out to know that time for this criminal old world is in short time mode. No we don't live for tomorrow today is enough and live it as it is the last, but not for self. Mt 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Yes it sure is Lord Jesus and only with your help are we able to cope! 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. CoAspen Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 An evasive answer at best to only one part of the post. Just how do you 'know' the world is in short time mode? So, if you believe it is in short time mode, what is the important issue? Quote

How does that play into this 6,000 year discussion? Excellent question Daryl, I wouldn't mind talking about "conditional prophecy" and "absolute prophecy". My short answer to this would be that Jesus absolutely could not come before 1844. Also, there seems to be a time limit of some kind although we don't know exactly when that is. Somewhere in between these two times is a period where God's people could have shortened the time of Christ's Coming. This conditional time period is limited and I believe almost over, which is why I'm more interested in the "time limit" to all this sin stuff. Daryl's point is excellent, and yes Jesus could have come before 1844 as the term "evening-moring" is cyclic and did not have to be fulfilled in the "year" application. Deuteronomy 4 offers two possible histories for Israel, one is where they are faithful in the land, the gospel spreads and nations join with the Hebrews others reject and the kingdom of God gets established. The other is they are not faithful, things get worst, finally it get's exile but that the exile can be the last days that the messiah comes and delivers them out of. For a good overview chapter there is the article in the SDABC "The Role of Israel in Old Testament Prophecy" and from time to time you come across Mrs. White's comments about how God wanted to use ancient Israel/Judah to finish the work and establish the kingdom. We are neglecent in our study as to how God wanted to close things many years ago. Had Jesus been accepted he could have finished things soon after his resurection (and he would have died in a different way) The original 2300 day prophecy was given the year that included the day that was 2300 days before Belshazzar's feast. Daniel 9 reapplys it to connect it to the decree to rebuild and restore Jerusalem. Ezekiel 38 and 39 (telling what could have happened had the Hebrews been faithful) gives the details of what would have happened had Jesus been accepted and it gives a 2310 day period. If you subtract the 10 days from the fall new year to Yom Kipper, you have another application as to how the 2300 days could have been fulfilled and how the great controversy could have ended when Jesus was here. We have a oneness of conditionality and God's sovern will. One thing that I don't like about the 6,000 year theory is how it has it too much set in stone while the Bible teaches how God controls everything and works everything out, but works with our will. The 6,000 theory does not take into account the historical context of the ancient geneologies, the translation problems of the text, the respect for the Biblical cycles found in Leviticus 23 and Deuteronomy, not the ways God wanted to wrap things up through out history and could have come err 1888 and err 1844. Windsor Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Jesus said no one "maketh known" the day or the hour but the Father. We know this to be true as Adventists because in vision, Ellen White heard the Father announce to the end time saints the day and the hour. Unfortunately English Bibles instead translate it as no one "knows" the day or the hour as if the Father is keeping it hidden from Jesus. Quote Remember Adventists Online?
R. G. Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Not to be willingly a thorn in your side, brother, you didn't get that idea from Peter. See the word "as?" This means it's all the same to God, 1,000 years or one day. He has no need to get impatient, so we might as well not get impatient either. This is certainly Peter's meaning, as interpreted by the immediate context. Anything beyond that is being read into the text, not gotten out of it. So, the only solid evidence we have at all that Jesus will come about 6,000 years after creation is Ellen White's say-so. I have personally studied the Bible from the standpoint of estimating the age of the earth. I was able to conclude that mankind has been around for about 6,000 years, not about 5,000 or 7,000 years. How this information could legitimately help us put a finer point on the nearness of Christ's coming than what we already have from actual prophecies and the signs of the times is beyond me. Quote

Moderators Kevin H Posted October 6, 2012 Moderators Posted October 6, 2012 When Lazarus died the sisters said that they know that he will rise in the resurection, Jesus informed them that the resurection is not some day in the future but that he is the resurection. Same with the Judgment, Jesus is the final judgment. God is working with the universe and everything will work out fully. However God works with our choice and also gives us freedom with his all powerful. Daniel 8:14 says "2300 Evening-mornings" which is cyclic time, from which we apply the Deuteronomic cycles (the only difference between the Deuteronomic cycle and the Leviticus 23 cycle is that Deuteronomy does not have the jublee, what happens in Leviticus in the Jublee happens in Deuteronomy in the Sabatatical year). 1844 is just one of the times that would fulfill the cyclic applicaiton. Therefore while 1844 is vaild, Jesus did not have to wait for 1844. The Judgment could have been connected to the shorter cycles and applications of the cycles. The original context of Daneil 8:14 was given the year that included the day that was 2300 literal days from Belshazzar's feast. Daniel 9 reapplys the 2300 days to the decree to rebuild and restore Jerusalem, and Ezekiel 38-39 makes an application to the last 2300 literal days of the 70 weeks of years prophecy telling what would have happened had Jesus been accepted. We need to read the chapter in the SDABC "The Role of Israel in Old Testament prophecy" and similar statements in Mrs. White that we find here and there. Then we need to study the diffeerent sections of the Bible asking ourselves "How did God want to use the people living at the time this passage was written to finish up the work so that they or not too many generations thereafter could be the final generation?" Look at the two basic plans for the Hebrews in Deuteronomy 4. How God wanted to use them in the land if they were faithful and if they were unfaithful and sent into exile how did God want to use them in exile. God wanted to use them in the land and have things get better and better with nations joining or rejecting God's people until the messiah came, but to be killed, a false messiah eventually rejected by God's people and accepted by the nations who rejected God's people, the messiah raise and a great eschatalogical war where the enemies of God's people are destroyed (While Deut 4 gives the basic outline different parts of the Old Testament fills in some details) oh the final death of the enemy was from terror when they see the Messiah. If they were not faithful they would have curses that would end in exile. In exile it was basically "go ye into all the world" the Hebrews were to share with their neighbors their unfaithfulness and God's faithfulness. And the Exile was to end with a second great exodus lead by the Messiah and lead to a similar last day events as if they were faithful in the land with the eschatological war. The Hebrews were under land theology from Joshua until the exile, then they were under exile theology but instead of the exile ending in a glorious second exodus lead by the messiah, it was a lackluster return home where they were given another 70 weeks of years to live under land theology and to prepare for the the messiah's coming, with again the messiah dieing, the false messiah, had all the details been fulfilled Jesus would not have been in the grave for 3 days but 3 1/2 years (Messiah cut off in the mist of the week, time for Satan to be a false messiah, the last king of the north in Daniel 11, gather the nations that he attacks and starts to conquer the world when he hears bad news that makes him quickly return to Jerusalem. That bad news is that Michael stood up the resurection of messiah the prince, and the last eschatological war) Since Jesus was not accepted Jesus did part of what was predicted but sent us back into exile by telling us to go into all the world and share the gospel and the messiah will come to bring us home. By learning what God could have done we can learn the principles that we need for how it will end. Quote

"Be ready" on the other hand is a creative work He does ie; "be perfect" when we are humble enough not only to admit that without Jesus we can do nothing, but if a work in us is not already done, we have no assurance we will ever be able to get ready, no matter how much time we have or effort we put forth. Remember all of the 10 virgins slept before the coming of the Bridegroom. Only those whose lamps were full of oil, oil being symbolic of the Holy spirit, were ready to meet the Bridegroom when He arrived. Our assistance is unnecessary to be ready. Isn't this disbelief in the the words of the Master Teacher, who had indicated that the setting up of the abomination of desolation will trigger a rapid succession of events culminating in the 2nd Coming? Johnnboy Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Daniel 8:14 was 2300 cycles, one of the possible cycles is 2300 years. But that is not the only possiblilty. Had Jesus been accepted, then Ezekiel's application of the 2300 days would have been fulfilled over the last 2300 days of the 70 weeks of years. As these conditions were not fulfilled we reached the 2300 years application of the text, which came in 1844 The angel instructing Daniel stated that the “going forth” of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem would mark the beginning of the 2300-day prophetic period, the fact that there were three separate commandments or decrees providing for the restoration and the rebuilding of Jerusalem that “went forth”, each decree issued by a different ruling monarch of the Medo-Persian realm, is very significant. Each of the successive commandments providing for the restoration and the rebuilding of Jerusalem, was given in more detail, with the third and final decree in 457 B.C.E. being the most complete. These three decrees are recorded in the Bible. (See Ezra 1:1-3, 5:13; Ezra 6:1-12; Ezra 7:11-27) These three commandments to restore and build Jerusalem are prophetic of three fulfillments of the 2300-day prophecy, the first fulfillment being in prophetic time (a day equaling a year) and the two remaining fulfillments being in literal days, each beginning with the “going forth” of a commandment to restore and build Jerusalem. The third and final 2300-day period will be the most complete in fulfilling the types relating to Christ's second coming. The second fulfillment of the 2300-day prophecy began unexpectedly with the “going forth” of a commandment to restore and build Jerusalem, on Friday, June 27, 1980, 2300 literal days before the Day of Atonement, October 13, 1986, in the first perfect alignment of the “shadow” Sabbaths falling on 7th day Sabbaths in the fall feasts in the 49th and 50th years, since the time of Jesus, the Messiah. This alignment was the first of a series, with three more such alignments that occur only now in our day at the end of the 6000 years of human history, after which there are none occurring, even if one searches a thousand years farther into the future. (See “Hebcal”, the perpetual Hebrew calendar) This commandment that “went forth” on June 27, 1980, via Reuters international news agency to the entire world, titled, “Basic Law: Jerusalem Capitol of Israel,” put forward by a member of the Israeli Knesset, Guela Cohen, provided for the restoring of Jerusalem as the capitol of the nation and allocated special funds for its rebuilding.. Many may remember that since 1948 when the nation of Israel was formed, Tel Aviv had been the capitol. An integral part of the 2300-day prophecy, is the first 70-week period. “Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness,...” Daniel 9:24. In the 2300 prophetic days (the 2300 years), the 70-week time period equaling 490 actual years reached to 34 C.E. when Stephen, the first Christian martyr, met his death by stoning and the Apostle Paul was ordained by God to carry the gospel message to the Gentiles, thus ending the Jewish dispensation and beginning the “times of the Gentiles.” Luke 21:24 In the second fulfillment of the 2300-day prophecy the first 70-week period was 490 literal days, ending on October 29, 1981. On that very day the Ark of the Covenant which had been secreted in a cave on Mt. Nebo since the days of Jeremiah, the prophet, was found by four amateur archeologists from Winfield, Kansas. Their leader, Tom Crotser, was shown by a dream that night, the exact location and how to reach it. When they found it, during that same night, they did not touch or disturb it, but reported there find. The Jordanian government sent their head archeologist to verify the find. After entering the cave and proceeding only a short distance down the corridor he was overcome and felt that he must leave at once. The entrance was resealed and guards were posted to prevent further investigation. The government of Jordan was urged to seek fame by removing the sacred chest from the cave and claiming ownership to it. But they declined. This event marked the “end of the times of the Gentiles” (“Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” Luke 21:24). At this time the professed Christian Church corporations, classified as nonprofit 501©(3) corporations, were weighed in the balance of the sanctuary and were “found wanting”. Daniel 5:27 “...weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.” All nonprofit 501©(3) corporations, being incorporated under Roman Catholic canon law (Ecclesiastical Law), are subject to and governed by the requirements of that law. Just as the 2300 years ended on a Day of Atonement, Tuesday, October 22, 1844 (according to the Hillel I calendar), so the 2300 days from Friday, June 27, 1980, reached to the Day of Atonement, Monday, October 13, 1986, a 49th year just before the year of Jubilee. This 49th year, the year of their greatest significance, the Feast of Trumpets and the first and eighth day of the Feast of Tabernacles, all fell on 7th day Sabbaths. In this perfect alignment the Day of Atonement occurred on a 7th day Sabbath, October 3, 1987, the Jubilee year, in which the Day of Atonement met the Sabbath specifications in the year of its greatest significance, (in Hillel I & in Hillel II). Another dramatic event took place when Pope John Paul II ended his year of Jubilee on Easter Sunday, April 22, 1984, when he closed a special door of St. Peter's Basilica, declaring the close of his Jubilee year. Amazingly, there are exactly 42 months or more precisely 1260 literal days from April 22, 1984 until the Sabbath Day of Atonement, October 3, in God's typical Jubilee year of 1987. “Pope John Paul II closed the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica. That gesture ended the extra-ordinary Holy Year of Redemption.--Kevin Castillo—AP Network News—Rome”. April 22, 1984 Quoting from the Apostolic Letter of Pope John Paul II, given on Good Friday, April 20, 1984, he stated: “As the Jubilee Year of Redemption draws to a close, my thoughts go out to that special land which is located in that place where Europe, Asia and Africa meet...” given on Good Friday, April 20, 1984, also in L'Osservatore Roman, April 30, 1984, Weekly Edition. The Pope's Jubilee year was heralded by other Churches, as well. The Seventh-day Adventist Church paper, The Advent Review, January 5, 1984, published an article entitled, “Year of the Lord's favor—Let the trumpet sound: bells ring out for this new year—a year of jubilee. 1984” Strangely enough, October 3, 1987, God's historical Jubilee, received no attention whatsoever by the Christian community. Altho the Advent Review, January 5, 1984 did recognize God's Jubilee of 27 CE. The future fulfillment of the 2300-day prophecy will be the third and most complete fulfillment involving the blotting out of the sins of the faithful who are alive on the earth, the beginning of the final cleansing of the heavenly sanctuary, as the Apostle Peter stated, to precede the second coming of the Saviour. “God requireth that which is past.” Ecclesiastes 3:10 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ,...” Acts 3:19 “Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.” Daniel 12:10 “...they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life,...” Revelation 3:4,5. This future and last fulfillment of the 2300-day prophecy will begin with the “going forth” of another “commandment to restore and build Jerusalem.” This will be exactly and precisely 2300 days before the Day of Atonement in the 7th Sabbath year the year just before the year of Jubilee, when all four of the “shadow” Sabbaths in the fall feasts will occur on 7th day Sabbaths in the year of their greatest significance. And the great Jubilee is ushered in on the Sabbath Day of Atonement of the Jubilee year. “That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been;” Ecclesiastes 3:10 The first 70 weeks of this future 2300 days will be marked with a major event, very likely involving the Ark of the Covenant, as was brought to our attention by its discovery during the previous literal fulfillment of the 2300 days. This Ark containing the ten commandment law of God is destined to be the great issue in the fulfillment of the prophecies connected with the judgment of the living at the end of time. This is evidenced by the words of the Bible prophet, Jeremiah, after he and his companions hid the ark in a cave on Mt. Nebo, on the peak of Pisgah, as is indicated by his statement and recorded in the book of 2 Maccabees, chapter 2. This book is included in the original 1611 Edition of the King James' Version of the Bible. “4 It was also contained in the same writing (of Jeremiah) ,how the prophet (Jeremiah), being warned by God, commanded that the tabernacle and the ark should accompany him, till he come forth to the mountain where Moses went up and saw the inheritance of God. 5 And when Jeremiah came thither he found a hollow cave: and he carried in thither the tabernacle and the ark and the altar of incense and so stopped the door. 6 Then some of them that followed him came up to mark the place: but they could not find it. 7 And when Jeremiah perceived it, he blamed them, saying: The place shall be unknown till God gather together the congregation of the people and receive them to mercy. 8 And then the Lord will shew these things : and the majesty of the Lord shall appear and there shall be a cloud, as it was also shewed to Moses, and he shewed it when Solomon prayed that the place might be sanctified to the great God.” 2 Maccabees 2:4-8 (Isaiah 4:4-6) The Day of Atonement that ends this last and final 2300-day period will be the day that Christ, our Heavenly High Priest begins the work of “blotting out” the sins of the living from the books of record in the heavenly sanctuary for those who have been faithful and the “blotting out” of the names from the book of life of those who have been found to be unfaithful.
