Woody Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Thanks for this post og - I am pleased to learn that Global Warming has been stopped and hope all the hype about it will end soon also. BobRyan Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 If the warming has stopped.......why is the ice cap melting so rapidly? Well the data appears to average out to a plus .5 over 14C So just how fast DID you expect the ice to melt at an average of .5 over 14C? (given that ice melts above 0 C). what are you comparing that to? Recall that we have moved away from the mini-ice-age of the 1600's to get to this point. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." olger Posted October 17, 2012 Author Posted October 17, 2012 If the warming has stopped.......why is the ice cap melting so rapidly? There is so much data manipulation going on that some people ignore the reality of what is happening to the weather world wide and all of the life that is being effected, in the water, in the air and on land. Whether it is a cycle or not, it is happening. But then, an Ostrich does have the best defense mechanism....pretend...pretend!! Antarctic sea ice grows to its maximum each September and melts to its minimum in late February, after which it resumes growing rapidly. This image pair shows monthly Antarctic sea ice concentration for the most recent winter maximum (September 2008, left) and summer minimum (February 2009, right). The images are two of the series of images in our recent article World of Change: Antarctic Sea Ice, which documents Antarctic sea ice maximums and minimums over the past decade. Satellites began observing sea ice in late 1978 and since that time, Antarctic sea ice has increased by about 1 percent per decade. Whether this trend is a meaningful sign of change in Antarctic climate is uncertain, however, because the increase is very small, and the year-to-year oscillations in ice extent have been large relative to the trend. To see images from 1999–2009 and to learn about trends in Antarctic sea ice, see the Earth Observatory feature World of Change: Antarctic Sea Ice. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

BobRyan Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 Draw a proper trend line, taking *all* the data into account, on *any* of those graphs and it shows constant, though slower, warming since the mid-90s. What's the headline of this thread, again? Simply, objectively incorrect. That blue hook on your chart shows what the OP claims - apparently. Not what we would have expected given all the complaints that were flowing. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." BobRyan Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 All the graphs that I showed - include the one that Bravus pointed us to - showed a leveling at the 2009-2012 level such that the 2012 numbers were consistent with mid-to-late 1990's. In the above graph the data conveniently ends around 2009. How "instructive". I myself have been arguing for a steady warming trend ever since the mini-ice-age of the 1500's and 1600's. But no sense in playing around with the data if it shows a recent leveling off. So be it. I just think that the overall 400 year trend is warming and I suspect that will continue given the big picture. in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." Moderators Bravus Posted October 18, 2012 Moderators Posted October 18, 2012 Expecting uniform warming all over the globe displays a misunderstanding of the nature of climate. A *net* warming over the whole world is completely compatible with increasing ice in Antarctica coupled with a *larger* decrease in ice in the Arctic. The *net* effect is warming, but that will include patches of warming and cooling. Your own misunderstanding does not constitute evidence. On the 'blue hook', have a look at the grey lines, which denote the 95% confidence interval: they diverge dramatically at the same time. The uncertainty in the system increases. That includes the uncertainty in the blue line. If the blue line trends down for the next decade, it's a story. Currently, it's climate variability and La Nina. Quote Truth is important

Stan Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 What I found interesting, is that a 100 year heat record was broke recently.. What caused it to warm up then? and what caused it to cool down? Members phkrause Posted October 18, 2012 Members Posted October 18, 2012 All I know is that when Shawn Boonstra was with IIW he had a program about how global warming, earth quakes, huracanes, etc., are getting worse and worse. One of the best programs I've seen on this. I believe I recorded it, but have no idea where I have it. It's sometimes difficult to measure real-life time when dealing with God's certainty, as our eyes are very often so clouded with the fog of sinful human perspectives. God blesses!
