olger Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 in Dayton Ohio. They (JCrane inc.) were lifting a large rooftop unit onto the Sinclair college roof when a female administrator ordered them to stop working because of the sexist sign they had out by the barrier fence to warn passerbys. The offensive sign...? "Men working." This really happened - my nephew works for JCrane and I'll get more details tomorrow. Picture of five men on the roof standing idle while they were shut down. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
olger Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Update from the owner of the crane company: Jack Stull "She" happens to be in management at Sinclair. Her response to the "no women are on the crew" reasoning was something like, "If I walk out there to look over your work, there is then a woman on site". You can imagine the deflating effect this has on a crew...after the last meeting with her a few hours ago the foreman running the entire project for our customer went back to their office, turned in his truck and keys and promptly retired. No joke. I guess his pension isn't a man hater." Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
M. T. Cross Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 All this due to the "Men Working" sign? Quote
olger Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 Yep. The sign was "offensive" and work had to be stopped until a new sign was found or the current sign was taken away. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Guest Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 The sign is accurate, unless she gets up on the roof and helps them install the unit. Looking at somebody else's work is not the same as doing the work. Duh! Of course most liberals are too stupid to figure this out for themselves. The new sign should read: "Men Working With Liberal Morons". In my humble opinion... :) Quote
M. T. Cross Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Thats just so over the top and petty. Were they actually ever able to find a sign that said something else? Of course I am a liberal so I may be too stupid and moronic to truly understand the whole issue. Thank all the Gods that a good Christian came a long to point out the lack of intelligence in those of us on the liberal side of things. I think I may just accept Jesus so that I too can resort to calling down others. Quote

Its a good thing that I don't claim to be conservative or liberal, those are labels placed on others to put people in a group where they can be controlled. But fortunately none of us are truly all conservative or liberal. No such person has ever been seen. The reality is, that the woman could've been as conservative, or more than anyone working on the crew. M. T. Cross Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 True PK. I am really liberal on some things and very conservative on others. I just can't stand those kind of across the board statements Quote
Administrators Naomi Posted November 24, 2012 Administrators Posted November 24, 2012 I am a Conservative-Liberal or Liberal-Conservative ... IMHO labels are asinine ... but not as asinine as complaining about a sign that says "Men Working" I personally love to see men working Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Woody Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 With every issue in life - one is either conservative or liberal. This is what makes the world go 'round. I don't need to tell you which side of the fence I sit on. I know one thing for sure. You can't sit on the middle of the fence. IF you do - there's is and will be something wrong with you. olger Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 They eventually (after three meetings with this woman) had to take the sign down in order to resume work. My nephew was running the project and he filled me in at Thanksgiving. g Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
olger Posted November 25, 2012 Author Posted November 25, 2012 I also spoke with the owner of the crane company, he emailed me an account of this incident. I requested it for an article I am writing. I will open it this morning, my iPhone 5 wouldn't open it yesterday for some reason. (maybe because it was the sabbath). rejoice always, g Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

By your own opinion the woman wasn't a part of the work. So, the only ones that were working with anyone were the men. With you proposed new sign, which of them would be the liberal morons? olger Posted November 26, 2012 Author Posted November 26, 2012 I have the woman's name and info now. Yes she is a liberal, and a very unfriendly one. More to follow. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

olger Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 Statement from president of crane company. "Early on the second morning of work D.B., the foreman managing the project for our customer DK, received a phone call from JF, the Sinclair employee in charge of the project. J told Db that we needed to stop all work immediately until the “sexist” sign we had set up on the sidewalk was replaced. After a brief conversation it was determined that the sign in question was the “Men Working” sign being used by Jcrane and the offended party was none other than JF's boss. Doug Bush and our foreman, MP initially thought it was a prank or joke, so they and the crew continued working. Soon JF arrived on site and frantically made it clear that this was no joke, we would not be allowed to work until the sign was replaced. M and D reasoned that a meeting with --- ------ was in order and asked J to join them. He declined, stating that he cared more about his retirement than standing up to ------. The meeting didn’t go well, M and D were told in no uncertain terms that they were sexist bigots and their sign was offensive to all. Furthermore “you work for me and you’ll do as I say, or else”. She yelled at and berated them for quite some time. M’s words were “I’ve never seen a woman talk like that, she just seemed evil”. D’s were “we’re working for the devil herself (himself)”. Faced with the prospect of working with her for a few months, D drove back to DK’s construction office, turned in his keys and truck and quit. A man in his late fifties with over twenty years in the Pipefitters Union, this woman was the end of his career." Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Liz Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I'm not sure why everyone got their noses out of joint over this. Was the lady over the top about the sign? Yes. Was she the boss? Yes. Just throw up a "construction area" sign instead and get back to work. There is a saying "He/She who has the gold--rules". I don't understand quitting over this. cricket Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 I agree, Liz. A sensible solution for all involved would be something like this: Quote
M. T. Cross Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 A sensible solution (though I still can't understand why the solution was needed in the first place) would have been to mention the need for such a pc sign prior to construction starting or mentioning that NEXT time we hire you could you please use this type of signage. But instead work was halted and when work is halted like that it does nothing but cost everyone involved a bunch of money that does not need to be lost. I think the guy quitting his job may have been a bit rash, but I get being so frustrated over such petty things and not wanting to have to deal with them anymore. Quote
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted November 27, 2012 Administrators Posted November 27, 2012 Good point, Liz. One has to wonder about the fragile ego of men that are so easily upset for not being allowed to have a sign identifying them as men. I should think it obvious enough that they wouldn't need a sign to proclaim their manhood. (And real men aren't threatened by strong-willed women, even obnoxious feminists.) As for the woman, I won't defend her, but surely these men have had to deal with difficult and unreasonable customers before. If everyone quit whenever they had an encounter with a difficult and unreasonable person, nobody would have a job. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." SivartM Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Yeah, I agree that the woman in charge was certainly unreasonable. It was also unreasonable to quit over it. Signs like "Men Working" are going to go out of use eventually anyway because (prepare yourself!) women can do manual labor as well, but there are much more important matters for any reasonable feminist.
