Quote:
Wednesday evening I worshiped with about 40 people at the Valley Crossroads Seventh-day Adventist church. I also acted as host and coordinator for members of the entertainment press who came there to interview and photograph anyone connected with Angus T. Jones, who is a member there. Tomorrow morning I will worship there again, along with Betty Cooney, Southern California communication director.

Besides worshiping, we will work with the local members to welcome any members of the press and to let them know that neither Angus nor any members of his family will be there this week. The senior pastor, Royal Harrison, is fulfilling a previously schedule speaking appointment in Atlanta, Georgia.

Adventists and others will be happy to know that the Valley Crossroads church is exactly the kind of place where you would want your own loved ones to belong. The facility is attractive and well maintained by people who obviously care about details. The pastoral staff are professional, loving, and affirming of everyone, whether members or guests. The members have created a supportive family environment — taking care of each other and serving their community with a variety of programs. It is not at all difficult to see why Angus and some of his family and friends love this church.

Obviously this is a difficult time for Angus. Please join the members of this congregation in praying that he will draw strength from God and from his church family. --Gerry Chudleigh.

Nice. I do hope that the World Church and local church will give Angus some grace and forgiveness for what he has done.

I am watching a recording of turning point on hope tv. Angus just said that he was influenced by a bible worker named Nelson Jones. I know Nelson Jones. He was a bible worker here at my church, before moving back to California.

I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs.

"Lord thank you for leading him to your people!"

Even so - what a miracle that among all the churches he could have visited - he chose that one!

After visiting 3 or 4 churches each Sunday - an also-ran sunday-church-wannabee sermon or congregation would not have made a blip on the radar.

Which was what? Be on his on spiritual journey and not be the Poster Boy for new converts to SDA?

He has done well and needs to be left alone.

@Woody: kk, i am totally baffled. What did young Mr Jones do for which the Church might be jerks, um, condemning? Could not locate anything like that on Google.

The World Church does not even claim to provide Grace and Forgiveness.

I don't have a link. But I heard his apology on the news. Since he apologized - I do hope that all members world wide will accept it as genuine and give him grace and forgiveness.

This is a huge problem. Members throughout the world will condemn Angus. But after he has apologized - I feel that members everywhere should both accept his apology and give him grace and forgiveness rather then condemnation. Condemning his young man is easy. To accept his apology - much harder but certainly the Christian thing to do.

Are we as a church BIG enough? I hope so.

Stan,

Thanks for posting this. I think Stephan Bladwin speaks for a lot of us. As a new Christian, Angus Jones has a lot to learn about "holding his mouth right" when he witnesses for Jesus. Goodness knows I've been a Christian for over 40 years; and I still suffer from severe "hoof in mouth" (or "hoof on keyboard") disease. We all have occasional flare-ups. Everyone (media and church) needs to cut the kid some slack.

Condemn him for what? and What should he apologize for? Also so far have not heard any condemnation.

Good question(s) ... Perhaps I am missing something here. Steven Baldwin didn't indicate that he had an issue with Mr Jone's comments, in fact he indicated that he felt that the comments were appropriate ... I don't understand what issue the church should have with it.

The only people I have heard giving him a problem or questioning him on his motives, is the media.

I am not saying he should apologize or he should not apologize.

BUT HE HAS.

And so - since he has apologized - I feel it is our job to accept the apology he has made.

The only issue the church should have in it - is to accept his apology and not stick their nose in where it doesn't belong.

What apology? I heard most of his interview! Oh maybe you mean he apologized for what he said in the interview? Now that I understand. It took a while to penetrate my brain, but it did! lol

I just hope he is not paraded around like some kind of trophy. I felt that Ralph & Shelley Winters of a bygone Hollywood era were paraded somewhat, and then they dropped out.

And so - since he has apologized - I feel it is our job to accept the apology he has made.

But the reality is -

1. Since we are not the producers of the show nor are we actors on the show - we have not been apologized to - and have no business accepting or rejecting apologies on behalf of someone else to whom it is made.

2. The apology does not claim that any specific claim made in the interview was wrong - only that the intent was not to offend co-workers and family related to that show - of which we are none.

3. We can and do strongly affirm A.T. Jones statements on the interviews.
