260 Clergy In Illinois Support For Gay Marriage

They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

“Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” (Matt. 25:44-46)

Who are "they"? who are the righteous; and how did they become righteous?

"You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace." (Gal. 5:4)

A lot of "righteous" people might be unpleasantly surprised on Judgement Day.

HopefulOne,

Re 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

Then here is where the Lambs Book of Life is finally opened

Re 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

That is the book that is finally opened, it is a scroll written on inside and outside, and as each seal was taken off so much was revealed, but what is inside has to have the final and seventh seal removed before it can be seen.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

The Clergy being clueless about the Bible on matters of morals and conscience - is a sign of a church that has fallen into apostasy. Thanks be to God that the SDA church in not in that group.

That then makes it more confusing for the government to know the difference between right and wrong. And it is when the government sanctions the sins of Lev 18 that we ,as a nation, get into the big troubles with the Author of the Bible.

Sunday, a child of the Papacy, has taken the place of God's holy Sabbath. As Nebuchadnezzar made a golden image, and set it up to be worshiped by all, so Sunday is placed before the people to be regarded as sacred. This day bears not a vestige of sanctity, yet it is held up to be honored by all. {RH, April 27, 1911 par. 6}

the clergy has been showing clueless long before this development.

the clergy of north America has been teaching many things for a long time....

Teaching that drinking alcohol is not so serious, and here it causes endless death, disease, and destruction of children, marriage and contributes to every form of immorality.

Teaching that God does not care what day you keep holy, destroying the knowledge of God as creator, redeemer, and friend.

Teaching science over faith. Devaluing every person into evolved apes.

Teaching, don't worry if you beat your wife or kids, they deserve it, they were out of line, straighten them out, no worry that domestic violence is destroying our society from birth on, and from inside out.

Teaching that the in loving sinners, God does not really hate sin, just keep asking for forgiveness, do not seek a new heart, do not change your lifestyle. God is forgiving so don't worry about any immorality, or degrading habits. Everyone commits adultery, we are human what do you expect.

Teaching that after we die God will explain everything then more clearly so you can really see and understand and have a second chance to change your mind. You don't really die when you die.

Teaching the people to not feel bad about hating those who are black, or Muslim, or gay. Go protest at the funerals of those grieving their dead, if those dead died during God's judgement, at the hands of evil gunmen, or if they were gay. This will really straighten out those families, and make the world see how pure and good God is. God hates evil sinners too.

Somehow this new development of clergy and government not being clear on homosexuality, somehow finally informs us there is a morality issue? Whoah..... shakes head.

Every human being comes short of the glory of God, not one of us is born Holy. we are all in the same boat, all in need of a Savior.

Funny, Vancouver has a HUGE gay community as does Toronto, both have gay pride parades every year, gay marriage is legal here in B.C. (not sure about Ontario) and yet your God has not unleashed his wrath for that on us yet. Must be an American thing......

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

Malachi 3:14-18

You have said, 'It is vain to serve God. What is the profit of our keeping his charge or of walking as in mourning before the Lord of hosts? [15] And now we call the arrogant blessed. Evildoers not only prosper but they put God to the test and they escape.' "

[16] Then those who feared the Lord spoke with one another. The Lord paid attention and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before him of those who feared the Lord and esteemed his name. [17] "They shall be mine, says the Lord of hosts, in the day when I make up my treasured possession, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. [18] Then once more you shall see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

I find it both interesting and puzzling that about the only clergy who are quoted in the article are women (i.e., Rev. Kim and Rev. Kara) and a gay man.

QUESTION: Is the Lord leading the SDA Church by the example of these clergy? Should we look to those churches in order to know what God wants us to do?

That's because the "wrath of God" is not how you define it. The "wrath of God" is where God has to abandon you because of your persistent "unbelief":

Romans 1:21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools....

In other words they didn't need God. They thought themselves to be wise. This is humanism in a nutshell. Today men do not worship idols - they worship the human mind. Hence folks with Ph.Ds abound! And those who have refused God look to these men for truth! In doing so Paul says they become fools.

Because of this "God gave them up" (He abandoned them) to their shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, (the result?) and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

That would be AIDS and HIV. This didn't come from God - it came from sexual immorality - the result of abandoning God.

I don't know if the prevalence of Gay legislation has a correlation to the judgements of God in the earth, more than any other particular sin.

When judgements come, i will be about the business of confessing my own sin, and pleading with God to be merciful towards myself and all sinners.

there is always a greater accountability when those who have done wrong have done so with awareness that what they are doing is wrong.

i don't think there is any sin that is not an abomination to God.

If we worship God while withholding our heart from him that is an abomination to God.

how can we pick and chose what sin is bringing the judgements of God upon the land.

We know God does not see as we see. Just because a particular sin is uncomfortable for us, doesn't mean the sin we are more comfortable with doesn't bring pain to the heart of God. Perhaps even more so. If we who have had great light and increased awareness are still involved with sin, we have greater accountability.

then there are the white sins, chocolate chocolate and then more chocolate, that extra piece of pie when we really are full, less offering in the offering plate at church, impatience with the little ones, unspoken resentment to those who are hurtful towards you, Less time in devotions more time watching movies....

God alone sees things as they are. The goats that cried out, we have done great things in your name, heard the words, "depart from, me, i never knew you."

Judgements did not come on the people that inhabited the promised land, until the people of God came and lived righteously before God in the land. When there was sin in the camp of Gods people, the judgements of God would not fall on the enemy. they did not become accountable without a true witness. When they saw and heard about the God of Israel, and had light, and increased accountability and remained disobedient..... sigh... then their cup of iniquity became full and they were moved out of the land.

The judgements fell upon Pharaoh progressively as he increasingly rejected the light. The judgements fell mercifully at each step to, if possible, awaken him and his nation to turn to God.

God be merciful to us.

A very excellent summary, Robert. The fact that so many are casting off all Biblical moral resraints is evidence that they have withdrawn themselves from God's protections. There will be other consequences to pay eventually when the winds of strife are finally fully released though the fool says in his heart,"there is no God."

That is definitely a part of what the Bible means by "the wrath of God." But there's more to it than that. When God resurrects the unrighteous and they are judged to be worthy of eternal death, they don't die naturally or because of murder or suicide. The Bible teaches that the wicked will die because God "destroys" them. "Fire comes down from God out of heaven and consumes them."

That's as plain and real as the Bible's teaching that rain fell from the sky and drowned the wicked in the Flood. In both instances, it was the activity of God that showed His judgment against sin and rebellion.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Does anyone know if these preachers support Gay Marriage because they believe it to be Biblical or as a civil right?

I believe the article stated the reasons they gave(the principles of morality and justice)for their support.

Are you implying there are some Bible versions supportive of gay marriage?

Recently heard of a new translation that has removed all references to homosexuality as sin: Queen James Version.

Studying the trumpets in light of Jericho poses the question: Daily times 7 days and 7 times on the 7th day?

So after the 6th trumpet has sounded, is it possible for them all to repeat before the final trumpet sounds?
