Would you like a theological answer for this?

I think they see the futility of the arguments much quicker than men!

I don't think a lot of women care to discuss theology real well, there is some around me here that would but don't get on the internet.

But I have noticed Bonnie held her own if not better with discussions here. A gal with "mettle"!

I can't see that it makes a difference Stan if you are a male or female and want to clarify what you see to be the truth of a matter.

Many Women can and do disuss thelogy well, just need em here is all.

Ever notice when males and females discuss theology, or many other things here, it ends up 'going south' and the females leave the forums?

I agree with Cricket.

This begs the question-

Is that what we want here- for the female members to leave the theology section and/or the board altogether?

theological discussions are often less about truth and more about being right. Could it be that the prevailing truth is more important than who is right. Churches have split over who is right on the issue of music but forgotten the prevailing truth that we should love one another.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

I think women are quite capable of discussing theology if they desire. Women have a different style that is all. I would suggest if women are turned off by the men's style - that they get more women to comment on a particular thread .

Yes, let's have some competition here and see which style is more popular. Whoops competition might be a man's thingy. As you were peoples.

I guess it's easy enough to designate some threads as women only and some as men only, just like sitting in separate areas in some faiths' places of worship.

IMO that would be one of the saddest things that could ever happen.

I have never understood the inability of some men and some women to just hang out with the opposite gender. Yes to a degree the sexes have a different approach to things. But in the end we all have the same concern - getting through life, finding some truth, finding love, raising families etc. Maybe I don't get it cause I have been told I think like a woman more than once, so be it - I don't find that insulting at all.

In response to Stans question. Theological Townhall has really become the playground of 5 or 6 people. They are all dead set on taking digs at one another and its always over the same topics with different thread titles. Honestly I hope visitors to the site can't see this section because some of the behaviour is simply disgraceful a lot of the time. That behaviour seems to me to be almost exclusively male dominated. Its a....... how can I put this in polite terms.......... a macho "mine is bigger than yours" kind of mentality thinly disguised as being a spiritual discussion. But its mostly a bully mentality with no respect shown at all. While I applaud the couple women that do step up and try to involve themselves in it I can't see why many would as most of the 5 or 6 people that dominate this section are total chauvinists as well as bullies.

Thats just my take on it anyways. This used to be my favourite section of the board, but its pointless now because anytime a person tries to discuss anything new it is ignored for the same tired old fights.

Gail, all that Cricket said was uh yes.... hmmmm

That's all that needed to be said--eventually, someone else would come along and fill in the silence. (See earlier post by Empty Cross for "the rest of the story".)

Some of the men, not all mind you, think they are the only ones who know anything or who understand the Bible and they make it perfectly clear and they tent to put women down, subtly of course, but still.

Quite frankly I would perfer more nurturing females here, and am getting impatience with males, who know everything, and have not attended a Church for years chasing them away once they get here.

That list is long..

OzarkWoman, As far as I am concerned your input and any other womans is always welcome to any of my threads or posts. I don't come to fight noone but to discuss the topic if I'm interested with a response then I do.

I have dropped off posting here a lot recently as the topics brought up and where they are going leaves me uninterested. It will change in time, things wear down you know, meantime like Paul says we keep on doing the "GOOD" fight of faith, well let's make that discussion here always, and for sure keep the faith.

except this was not to be a place where you need to fight the good fight with people who do not want to respect the Adventist Church and it's teaching by those who have not been to Church for years.

This was meant to be an Adventist Community to have 'community'.

AND I am not talking about those who have clearly left the Church.

What do you mean by "going south"? Do you mean that women leave BECAUSE the discussion goes "south"? Or that it may just be coincidence? Are you really trying to tactfully say that if men here only discussed theology like women that those discussions would never go "south"? Or the theological version of "if we let women run the world we would soon see the end of war"? (Who made up that "going south" saying anyway?)While I have keenly noticed the absence of the ladies participation in most theological discussions I assumed that the reason was that men and women generally think differently about the importance of such discussions and how they should be approached. What gives with the question?

I don't get that part.OW? Take a man, like me, who knows and understands everything about the Bible. Why would I make it perfectly clear to only women of my obvious spiritual superiority? I've been trying to put down the men equally.Don't take it personally.

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

I've always been led to believe that if you are right you must be telling the truth ...and vice-versa. "Love rejoices in the truth." Where's the dichotomy in a theological discussion?
