In answer to the video being a bit over the top...After reading all the "what-ifs" and alternates...It would seem to me that the intruder (first seen in the van parked across the street) in the video did his "homework". He's picking an area where residences are easy to break into. Having arrived there earlier, he likely already checked for the presence of a dog. Most of those issues are already settled. The question the ad poses is, If a young woman finds herself at this disadvantage, what is her best option to prevent a rape? Not everyone is fortunate to have access to all the options. Self-defense is not everyone's thing. Cricket, if that's your choice, I will respect that. Truly gentle spirits as that are rare in these days. Please understand, though, were you at my house with my family, and intruders broke in, I would pull my Glocks first, call police after. I would not hesitate to place myself between family, friends and danger threatening them. That is my choice. Love drives me to honor the value Christ placed upon each of them. My spirit is...less gentle...when it comes to those not respecting that value. Yes, I have dogs. Yes, I live in a safe neighborhood. Yes, I have good locks on the doors and windows, and an alarm system. We have knives, pepper spray, and baseball bats. However, I know that if someone is fully intent on breaking in, there is nothing going to deter that. Deterrents work on the easily convinced opportunist. If someone is going to take the time to case out my house and still attempt to break in, then the safety of my loved ones requires the strongest measure to counter that kind of intent. That is where my Glocks come into the picture. I would indeed prefer a world where such force is not necessary, and pray those Glocks are fired only in practice at the range. But we live in a world where wicked people prey upon the disadvantaged and weak, unless their best interests are placed at risk. I remain prepared for the worst, and hope and pray for the best.
