M. T. Cross Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 No separation of church and state in Canada? Most interesting. Oh but there is! I have never heard of another school doing that. The one that sent the Bible home, it was a parting gift as we were moving. I think the teachers heart was in a good place, just not thinking, as I have noticed sometimes happens, that we might NOT be Christians. Quote

I think the teachers heart was in a good place, just not thinking, as I have noticed sometimes happens, that we might NOT be Christians. Now there is an interesting subject! According to the Bible (somewhere, I don't know if it's in there, really, I just think it is), "they [Christians] will be known by their love." So...what happens when non-Christians are loving? Do people automatically assume they are Christians?! Quote
olger Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 To what extent is the posting of this topic a pretext to dignify the posting of the phrase 'lesbian bondage'? Thank you. I believe the Good Book says "Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin." "The evil deeds of a wicked man [or woman] ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast" (Proverbs 5:22). "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.." (Romans 1:28). Bondage indeed. Jesus delivers. g Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
bonnie Posted March 16, 2013 Author Posted March 16, 2013 I think that was a question meant not really as a question but something less than a complimentary statement.LOL Maybe those asking are just using that term in the title and my reference to it as a "pretext to dignify the posting of their question" It is in the title of the topic and is rather a strange topic that "NEEDS" to be addressed by a university. How can the term be that offensive? It is being promoted in a public university and I don't so far seeing any educator speaking out against it,must be okay Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. A legitimate question because of a concern or an attempt to belittle someone else. Personally I found the way it was posted to be a little funny, childish and petty. But maybe I just have a different understanding of "Truth" Got a question ask it straight out like an adult. Want to belittle someone, make implications and innuendo. I may be wrong but my impression of you is that you are pretty straightforward and would have asked the question straight out without the "wink"if you were honestly concerned or questioned the motive. olger Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 It comes across as an elitist question, Bonnie. I like your summary statement about truth. We are definitely finding out who is on the side of it (truth). Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

ClubV12 Posted March 25, 2013 Posted March 25, 2013 Bonnie, my apologies, I should have been more clear. I never was very good at sarcasm. Are we like other men? Sometimes I wonder, will our schools catch up with Tennesses at some point? I pray not... I was thinking of the story about the guy in the synsgogue praying loudly that he was not like other men. While the publican could hardly lift his eyes toward heaven because he knew he was a sinner. I didn't mean that personally to anyone on this thread. Is it pride that suggests that could never happen? Just musing, a question... La Sierra has had significant problems and remains a hot issue within the Adventist news circles. I don't know either what their current status is, primarily regarding their creation/evolution views. Suffice it to say, our schools face some serious challenges and the line between the world and our schools is in danger of becoming blurred. Didn't mean to step on any toes... Quote

olger Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 The jury is still out on whether this "sex week" atrocity will even happen. I think in its place they should host a series of presentations on the wisdom of the principle of delayed gratification. G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."

The current generation did not invent the word sex or the act. Neither did they invent deviancy, maybe have helped make it more acceptable and mainstream. Moderators Bravus Posted March 29, 2013 Moderators Posted March 29, 2013 Harm minimisation: ignoring the fact that people have sex - yes, even sex we might disagree with on all sorts of grounds - has not worked as an approach to saving lives and health. Education has worked - rates of both STIs and unwanted pregnancies have been falling for decades. The forces of ignorance won this time - the event has been cancelled. But truth will out, over time. The forces of ignorance are in retreat, howling all the way. Quote Truth is important
