I think some did,I also believe others truly felt it was the means to protect from another terrorist attack. Doesn't matter. When you start passing laws based on fear or for the "good of the majority" it rarely works out that way. I think a lot of people were for it because of 9/11 not believing or anticipating where it would and has led. And then when the power changed hands, the very people who vehemently opposed the Patriot Act, signed it back into law. Without a peep out of the so called media. Who had also vehemently opposed it!
