Teaching my last class here this afternoon*, then starting to teach at Griffith on Monday morning, 8 am. How does that work, refusing a resignation? Does that mean you are locked in for the rest of your life? I'm not real sure; I told them that I was getting ready to move and they said that their company is all over Texas, and they wouldn't take the resignation, that when I was ready to go to work again to call and let them know. I'm guessing I can't use them as a reference if I decide to work for a different company. But it's nice to know that I have a job where ever we end up. It was still a strange conversation though. My husband has been out of work since the end of November and has been looking for a job in this market every single day since then. If you have a job and they don't want to let you go, it's good to know there is one available for you if/when you need it. And, sure you can use them as a reference if you decide to take a job with a different company! They'd give you a great recommendation, I'm sure. Quote

While I was writing the check, she proceeded to chew part way through the new lead. So when I got home, I ordered one that was a chain, not nylon! Quote

Watched my niece and nephew and had the following conversation: 4 year-old nephew: Everything can kill you! 7 year-old niece: Even people? Me: Yep. The only thing that can't really kill you is health! Nephew: What's that? Niece: Exercising. Eating good foods. Drinking good stuff. Me: Yep! Like water. Niece: And milk! Me: That's debatable. Niece: Huh? Me: Nothing. Nephew: Milk and JUICE! Niece: Yes, but juice has a lot of sugar. Me: Yep. Nephew: Yep! I love sugar! 20 year-old daughter: Me too! Quote
Ellen Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 I steamed a couple carpets, trimmed some dead lily stems, picked up some groceries, had a church meeting, defrosted my freezer and spent a lot of time playing Tetrus. I refuse to do any more work today, just browsing Club Adventist and reading a book. Oh, I watched Jeopardy and dragon's den while I played Tetrus. I think that's all I could cram in today. I can relate completely! I gave written resignation letters to all Council Members and was first told they weren't ready to accept it. Later in Council no one could *remember* receiving it! Immediately suspended servce and thought perhaps the finder would turn it in as it can't be used. No such luck. Hate to loose all those numbers and pictures. Dumb ending to a good time. We hiked a couple of trails in Missouri state parks and we had ice cream (cherry dipped cone for me!). Today we're relaxing with the kids! Quote

Hot tubbed with my beloved between her work at two jobs. Now I'm in the office on a Sunday evening, preparing for my first lecture at my new university tomorrow morning. Watching a TV show (Kidnap and Ransom) on the computer at the same time (because at this stage it's just copying and pasting into a PowerPoint - but that will be a small part of the whole session).
