M. T. Cross Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I am a dog person. Have been that way since birth. Cats are ok, something I can do without but not eager to put them out. Same with cat people. People had noticed I was a dog person since my early years. I do not think I had any control over that, and have been one since birth. Some friends think I should change, and have been very vocal about that. I am ok with cat People, I am not wanting them to be dog people. I suppose I could fake being a cat person if I really needed to. I am friend with both dog and cat people. Some have suggested that it is time I became a cat person, and that if I really tried and prayed hard, I could become a cat person. That is among the dumbest things I have ever been told. Simply one of the most brilliant posts I have ever read. Quote

To take the cross of Christ means to depend solely on Him for everything, and this is the abasement of all human pride. Men love to fancy themselves independent. JoeMo Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 I started out as a dog person. For many years I didn't trust people who preferred cats over dogs. Then I met a cat that showed me a lot of love. I decided cats were preferable over dogs. After a long while of singing the praises of cats, I convinced my family that cats were the way to go. Then I met some wonderful people who raised rabbits and dogs. Their positive witness for these animals rekindled our love of them. My daughters fell in love with rabbits; and showed them in 4-H for years. Over the years, we have experienced the love of all kinds of critters. We currently have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 rats. When we opened our minds to the possibilities, we learned that all animals have positive and negative traits. There are "good" dogs and "bad" dogs; "good" cats and "bad" cats. It is only through relationship that we can truly appreciate the entire animal kingdom; and not just limit our relationships to one kind of animal. Usually, when we show domestic animals our love, they all come to love us back in their own way. Since we have learned to accept all forms of animals and appreciate the differences between them, our lives are much richer. We experience the blessings that different animals bring to our lives. I have become primarily a cat person; but dogs, rabbits, and rats can also teach us many of life's lessons through their exemplary lives. Varieties of animals can bring us a blessing, if we just get to know them better! Quote

Administrators Gail Posted June 24, 2013 Administrators Posted June 24, 2013 I wasn't born a cat person nor a dog person. I had to learn to love animals. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
JoeMo Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Quote: I wasn't born a cat person nor a dog person. I had to learn to love animals. More often than not, it is the love that an animal or person showers on us that draws us. It is by being loved that we learn to love. For example, no matter how late I get home, my dog is always ecstatic to see me. No matter how late I go to bed, my cat is always eager to "cuddle". I wish I could say the same thing about my significant other! Quote

JoeMo Posted June 25, 2013 Posted June 25, 2013 1st 2 times - the usual procedure (1st time didn't take). Third time - radiation and chemo for prostate cancer did the trick. I've been in remission for 8 years now; and - at 63 years old, I have outgrown my desire for more children (already got 7 - however that happened). Quote
