M. T. Cross Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I've learned not to expect ex-witches, church lawyers or women preachers to support Scriptural evidence or the EGW record. Woot Woot! I don't fit any of those categories! Quote
olger Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Men are discouraged in our church today. They know well that they are sinners. They feel unworthy to lead, and many just sit back and let others take their places. Many men are happy for women to be promoted to the leadership positions, because they feel guilty that they are not doing what they should, or they feel too ashamed to do it and are happy to be relieved of their duties. Furthermore, as women become bolder, men feel unwanted, unappreciated, and out of place. They feel that it is no longer "politically correct" for them to be leaders in the church--a church in which women are clamoring for their places. Maybe we need to be focusing on more men's retreats, and encouraging the men of our churches to stand in their places and not to allow discouragements and pressures of the world to keep them from the leadership duties which God has given them. God still has an order to things that He desires to see. Who are we to change God's order? Blessings, Green Cochoa. This is an accurate portrayal of western culture. For men, more training needs to be given. The answer to the present confusion regarding ordaining women is not to weaken the woman’s contribution but to strengthen the men’s. Local churches must give top priority to evangelizing and discipling men as Jesus did. It is better to teach a man to lead his wife and family than to provide women’s meetings and youth clubs to compensate for a godless father. The Word tells us where to go. Godly wisdom tells us how to get there. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Johann Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 There has been silence here for some months. Why? Stuck on headship? Does this have anything to do with headship? It is a question about ordaining, and the ordination we are dealing with is nothing but a Roman Catholic thing we have adapted and made it our tradition. Ordination of whom? Primarily a minister to serve in our church. The minister is to serve, be a humble servant. Else s/he is not qualified. What should headship have to do with being a servant? Who thought of cluttering up the discussion with the headship role? Quote
Administrators debbym Posted November 3, 2013 Administrators Posted November 3, 2013 any mans sense of not being adequate is not cured by having women become subordinate, but by being restored to themselves by the power of the Holy Spirit, giving them self control, and inspiration to dream and do great things for God, from heart to home to the greater wider society they live in. it is the Holy Spirit that infuses us with our sense of worth, through the power of the glorious righteousness of Jesus. this idea that it is women robbing men of their sense of adequacy and ability to carry out responsibility and empowerment to be all they can be in Christ is the saddest thing i have ever read. ClubV12 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 "this idea that it is women robbing men of their sense of adequacy and ability to carry out responsibility and empowerment to be all they can be in Christ is the saddest thing i have ever read." I don't know where you get the idea that in this debate the poor men are feeling all threatened by women in some way. Wait, I think I know! Thats the classic response of the womens lib movement! And you tie that to something about the Holy Spirit and love. That is the saddest thing I have ever read Debbym. The issue is about biblical principles, not womens rights. Not men who you say feel inadequate and need to be converted by the Holy Spirit. I support women as Pastors, evangelists, bible workers and many other good and worthy rolls in the Church. The question is one of authorization by the word of God for ordination. That question remains on the table and is being considered carefully. It has nothing to do with the womens lib movement. Quote

ClubV12 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 Thank you for clairfying that, a blessing on you and your house today! One could swap the positions of the words men/women and it wouldn't change the thought of the statement. I would suggest there is another reason men or women are glad to sitback and let others, of either gender, lead. Their lazy. Quote

Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted July 16, 2016 Administrators Posted July 16, 2016 How many of the arguments in the BRI article have we seen here? Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)
