That is ok for you... But for some of the rest of us, we like to go out from time to time to see something that interests us. So, this thread is for you. What have you seen lately? What interests you? What do you think would rate a ? Which ones really made you think and or encourage the rest of us to go see? We, as Christians, need to cast our votes with our dollars. We need to vote for "G" rated movies and with few exceptions (like "The Passion") against "PG" and "R" rated movies. Moderators Bravus Posted October 18, 2005 Moderators Posted October 18, 2005 Corpse Bride is a lot of fun, and beautiful to look at. A love story with pathos and self-sacrifice - and a dog skeleton! Wallace and Gromit - definitely good clean fun, hugely enjoyable and quite different from things American. (And please, pleople, I love lots of American kids movies, I don't 'hate America', I'm just saying a change is nice, and rare. And dangit, I shouldn't have to do this disclaimer.) Serenity - may not be the cup of tea of many here, but our family were huge fans of 'Firefly', the short-lived TV series to which this movie is the sequel, and it's the best science fiction movie in a long, long time. Just a great ensemble cast of characters, brilliantly written. Not a whole let else on at the moment that appeals, honestly. Quote Truth is important
aldona Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 I saw Wallace & Gromit a couple of weeks ago. It was great. As Bravus said, good clean fun, and very funny. I LOVE the British sense of humor. It's so dry and subtle. I'm a huge fan of Mr Bean (and anything else starring Rowan Atkinson). I'm looking forward to seeing Narnia when it opens here in a couple of months. cricket Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 I saw Serenity as well. While I usually enjoy sci-fi movies, this one was a little "off" for me. I've heard that if you watched the Firefly series, the movie was really great. I'm not saying the movie was bad, but it didn't answer all the questions one would like to have answered; also the love stories weren't seemingly realistic. Quote

Administrators Gail Posted October 18, 2005 Administrators Posted October 18, 2005 I have to agree with "A Constant Gardener". A local review said it was Oscar material. I'm not sure about that, but I do like Ralph Fiennes and he does an awesome job here I prefer foreign films, for the storylines are usually more true-to-life and thought-provoking. A couple very good ones that I've seen recently are Vera Drake (English) and Liam (another English or Irish, not sure, film). The best one I've seen all year is Veronica Guerin, based on a true story I don't think I would show a foreign film to a child, as the subject matter is frequently over his/her head. Chrys, the relationship between Simon (the doctor) and Kaylee (the mechanic) had a long and (in typical romance style) frustrating and varied history in the series, which made it actually really poignant in Serenity, but I can see how it would seem abrupt just seeing the movie.
