Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 23, 2013 Members Posted December 23, 2013 Stan, I'm glad you reminded us about using C/A as the portal to go to Amazon.com...I'd forgotten about it. I have the Amazon Prime where most things I get are 2 day Free Shipping.. totally worth the cost! No hassle of going to the store, paying for gas for the car, etc. Everything just comes right to my doorstep. :) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Aliensanctuary Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 $55.14/12= $4.60 per can. Vegemeat not cheap. A case of that stuff would last us many, many years. Quote The Parable of the Lamb and the Pigpen https://www.createspace.com/3401451
Stan Posted December 24, 2013 Author Posted December 24, 2013 It is almost $7 per can at my local store. Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Aliensanctuary Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I no longer see a link to Amazon on the side board. Does CA no longer receive $$ from Amazon transactions originating here? Quote The Parable of the Lamb and the Pigpen https://www.createspace.com/3401451
OzarkWoman Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I just don't understand...If you want a burger, then eat one and the same thing with hotdogs. I mean, they do make all beef hotdogs for the people who are stuck in the Torah. That stuff has ingredients I can't pronounce and that means, to me anyway, that it isn't good for me. If one wants to be a true vegetarian, then by golly be one. Eating that type of stuff is not being a true vegetarian, IMHO. Quote
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 25, 2013 Members Posted December 25, 2013 But it's nice for the vegetarians to have an alternative that can fit into hotdog or hamburger buns... otherwise they could claim discrimination and sue the bakeries! Members phkrause Posted December 25, 2013 Members Posted December 25, 2013 What I can't understand is those that continue to want to eat processed meat, knowing how bad they are for you! And than to make a comment about "following the Torah" that offends me, being of Jewish descent and now being SDA. The so called "Torah" is very important to Jews and SDAs alike, this is the "roots" of Christianity. Just because someone is not a vegetarian or does not eat the way you think they should does not mean they eat all of the stuff you think they do. I don't eat processed or boxed or frozen food at all, except ice cream. lol So much of the processed frozen vegetarian food also is not good for you. You need to stop judging. Quote

If one wants to be a true vegetarian, then by golly be one. Eating that type of stuff is not being a true vegetarian, IMHO. It is very difficult for some people to go vegetarian "cold turkey" (pun intended) without some help. This food is a way for some to go from meat eater to vegetarianism. Not everyone has the same background in healthy eating or even healthy cooking. It's a process and different for everyone. Some like it and stick with it, others move away from it and go completely natural, then their are still others who eat meat. Like everything else that is a personal choice as everyone is on their own personal walk. But saying someone isn't a true vegetarian because they eat this food... Aliensanctuary Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Wife and I only occasionally have vegemeat, not because it tastes like real meat, but because it's something out of the ordinary. Frichickies do go good with mashed taters and veggies. I haven't tasted any vegemeat yet that tastes like real meat, but I don't really care. My personal vegemeat favorite is the frozen corned-beef log. It has kind of a smokey taste, making great sandwiches. Quote The Parable of the Lamb and the Pigpen https://www.createspace.com/3401451
Windsor Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 I don't eat vegemeat every day, but it sure is hard to turn down stripples or the occasional frichik. Quote Remember Adventists Online?

McDonald's has been serving veggie burgers in India for a long time, because of the religion there, and they have not been using Worthington. yes vegetarians have been eating veggie stuff in buns for a long time and it's great! and we called them shamburgers, lol, funny play on words, cuz they are no sham they are delicious and nutritious. Administrators Gail Posted January 1, 2014 Administrators Posted January 1, 2014 I tend to look at them as just chunks of protein used to balance out the whole meal. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Miss Jessie Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Ooooh. That's so expensive! A lady who attends our church bought some pecan meal from an Omish store (or something like that). She ordered in bulk a 30 pound bag, and the 2 pounds she gave me was like 8 cups or something, for about 5 dollars...You can make lots of veggie burger with that. I still have a little less than half the bag, and have already made a batch of about 20 vegan breakfast sausage patties, about 10 or more vegan "meatballs", a veggie loaf, a couple "taco salads", which I call "haystacks" or "breakfast haystsacks" that fill up a plate, and a burger/sausage/patty or two here and there. You might not find it for that good a price, but it's worth looking into nuts/nut meal and making your own. Quote
Aliensanctuary Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Oatmeal burgers can be quite tasty if seasoned well and fried. Doesn't have to be just quick oats, either. They're OK in a cassarole dish with mushroom soup, too. Another great taste is stripples and egg in a sour dough English muffin---a quick microwave breakfast. I need bread and cereal, etc. not to mention ketchup all of which are man made. Quote Remember Adventists Online?
