Members phkrause Posted August 26, 2025 Members Posted August 26, 2025 ADHD in Women What to Know About ADHD in Women Little research explores the effects of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) on adult, cisgender women. Children, teens, and cis, straight men are more often the focus. Even in kids, studies show that boys more often get an accurate diagnosis than girls. https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/adhd-in-women? Can Adult ADHD Go Into Remission? Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has mostly been thought of as a childhood disorder, one that some children outgrow as they enter adulthood. But many adults continue to have ADHD symptoms or even get diagnosed for the first time with ADHD in young adulthood. https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/adult-adhd-remission? ADHD in Older Adults Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder isn’t just for kids. It’s true that ADHD mostly affects children, and 4.4% of adults under the age of 44 have it, too. But some older adults -- those who are already retired or close to it -- likely deal with ADHD as well. Unfortunately, there’s not much research on how this mental disorder affects adults who are well past middle age. https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/adhd-older-adults? Members phkrause Posted October 11, 2025 Members Posted October 11, 2025 Medication’s Role in Childhood ADHD Treatment Kids with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may have more trouble focusing, paying attention, controlling their impulses, and sitting still than those without it. This is because their brains work differently from those of kids without ADHD: They develop more slowly and have fewer chemical messengers like dopamine and norepinephrine to relay the signals that regulate behavior and emotion. https://www.webmd.com/add-adhd/childhood-adhd/cm/childhood-adhd-medication-treatment-plan? I would imagine that your diet makes a difference? I do know a family that tried doing this by the diet that they fed there child that was diagnosed with ADHD, to start with it didn't seem to make a difference? Not sure how it turned out. One of the differences also is can people afford to do it naturally instead of with medication. I know with our grandsons, with one the medication was not only not working but made him very depressed so we took him off all together and we told the school. The other one he has been doing very good on the medication! As far as your question, I don't know one way or the other!! If I had to guess I'd say probably not!! Asia Joe Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I would like to see a study on these individuals to see what percentage were mineral deficient. I suspect it's higher than 50%. Also, what percentage had high toxic items, Lead, Mercury, Arsenic, Glyphosate. I think it would be very interesting. phkrause 1 Quote
Members phkrause Posted October 7 Members Posted October 7 ADHD linked to higher odds of 'every gastrointestinal symptom investigated' A new review and meta-analysis conducted by a research team from the Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick, in Coventry, United Kingdom, confirms a striking association. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/adhd-linked-higher-odds-every-gastrointestinal-symptom-investigated? Asia Joe Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Quote A recent meta-analysis of data from more than 1.9 million participants across 23 trials suggests that there is a high incidence of gastrointestinal issues among people with ADHD. Strikingly, people with ADHD have an almost 50% increase in gastrointestinal problems, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), compared with neurotypical peers. So this is a analysis of many studies. Not as good as a pure study to compare ADHD to gastro problems. But almost two million people is a lot. It increases accuracy. Today researchers are learning so much about the Gut - Brian connection. So there is great hope for people with ADHD ! phkrause 1 Quote
