bonnie Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Christian Singer Walks Out on Grammys After ‘Satanic’ Performances Popular Christian gospel singer Natalie Grant walked out of the Grammys after witnessing a series of performances that even the mainstream entertainment media admitted were occult in nature. Grant, who was nominated for two Grammys last night, tweeted her excitement upon arriving at the event but soon made it clear that she left early because what she witnessed conflicted with her Christian beliefs, stating, “We left the Grammy’s early. I’ve many thoughts, most of which are probably better left inside my head. But I’ll say this: I’ve never been more honored to sing about Jesus and for Jesus. And I’ve never been more sure of the path I’ve chosen.” Although she remained coy on the exact circumstances, Grant was probably referring to Katy Perry, who was surrounded by demons as she danced around an upside down broomstick before being encircled by fire during a performance of her song “Dark Horse”. Perry wore clothing bearing an illuminated Knights Templar cross. Even E! Online tweeted that Perry’s performance resembled “actual witchcraft”: Now all the little girls that look up to Katy Perry will worship Satan However, Grant could also have been offended by the mass gay wedding ceremony which took place during a performance by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Not to be outdone, Beyonce and Jay-Z attempted to up the ante by performing a risqué duet which provoked fury from parents who complained that the spectacle was too explicit for children. Jay-Z’s acceptance speech, during which he said, “I would like to thank God… a little,” also prompted claims that the rapper was invoking the Illuminati. The International Business Times reacted by claiming that Perry, Beyonce and Jay-Z’s antics were merely an example of the Grammys, “trolling Illuminati conspiracy theorists.” Watch analysis of how the Grammys were yet another ceremony to the entertainment industry’s occult leanings below via Mark Dice. Katy Perry’s best efforts at summoning Beelzebub appear at the end. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. M. T. Cross Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 E! Online would not know the first thing about "actual witchcraft" if it smacked them in the head. Satanists worship Satan, most witches aren't Satanists (though there are always those that may be both) Jay-Z has played out this Illuminati paranoia thing for millions and millions of dollars. The likelihood of him actually having anything to do with the Illuminati and openly displaying it and remaining a non-corpse are pretty unlikely. Quote: Now all the little girls that look up to Katy Perry will worship Satan One of the most ridiculous, irrational, irresponsible and stupid statements I have ever had my intelligence wasted on. Administrators Gail Posted January 29, 2014 Administrators Posted January 29, 2014 There's always something... Although yesterday as I flipped through a slideshow of the performances on Reuters I checked out the various winning songs on Youtube. I must say that not one of them impressed me at all. M. T. Cross Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Nothing was unclear. The article was hack journalism at best. Miss Grant obviously did not look over the Grammy program very well before attending the event. If she had she likely would have known the kind of performances that there would be. Most artists that attend the Grammy's have a pretty good idea of what the nights event is going to entail. The music industry also has been openly accepting of homosexual relationships for a very long time, so I am surprised that she would be surprised. IF and that's a really big IF, Jay-Z, Beyonce or Katy Perry were promoting a spiritual belief of any kind, how is that any different from Miss Grant who is a Gospel singer? She does that exact thing as well. As far as the quality of the music itself.......... well, we will never agree so its best just left alone. Quote

But as close to any kind of real witchcraft or Satanism as a jack-o-lantern is. phkrause 1 Quote

Moderators Gerr Posted January 29, 2014 Moderators Posted January 29, 2014 I don't recall ever watching the grammys once. Quote
fccool Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I don't really watch grammys, but this is the point... conspiracy theories play intosensationalizing these singers into something more than they are. If you think that Beyonce and Jay-Z are members of secret elite organization controlling this world... it's ironic, because they almost certainly are playing into these rumors for attention, which gets them enormous amount of cash. That's what so ironic about it. Bands like Manson, NIN made millions simply because Christians pointed in their direction and said - "Don't be like that". I'd say, in this day and age, don't pay attention. Lack of attention is what brings down an artist. Any PR agency will take negative attention over no attention. So, Bonnie, it may sound ironic, but by sharing this article you are indirectly promoting Jay-Z :) Quote

fccool Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 I'm not blaming the Christian performer for walking out. If someone invites you to join the party in a strip bar, then you shouldn't be surprised that there are naked ladies running around. Music industry these days is very much like a strip bar. I don't think that Amy Grant was unaware of the fact given recent music videos like "Wrecking Ball" and plentiful other, and given the lyrics of Jay-Z's songs. These people know what they are after - attention, because attention sells records. The point of that article is irrelevant to the fact that it draws even more attention to people who want you to do exactly that. Quote

You are not in a position to tell me what is irrelevant to me or to someone else. Your opinion is just that, nothing more. What was relevant to me obviously is not to you. The portion of the article that I was interested in is that Natalie Grant left without fanfare or scathing remarks. You know what she knew ,I don't. This was not intended to develop into what it is. I was glad for those young people that may understand that you can stand up for what you believe. CoAspen Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Even walking out or getting noticed that you left will get to the PR needed. An article was written about it...so...calculated or not, great pub! As noted, no performer should ever be able to say they don't know what is going on in their industry, at functions or otherwise. No surprises. Everything that takes place is calculated. It means money!! Christian or otherwise. phkrause 1 Quote

She obviously does not have any christian principals. I don't find Satan, real or pretend a suitable playmate. Natalie Grant is a Christian superstar and should know what goes on elsewhere in the music industry. Look at MTV awards; even country music award shows are somewhat risque. Just about every form of entertainment has some potential for being risque or "Satanic". I don't fault Natalie Grant. She handled her protest (if that's what it was) much more gracefully than some. It's the news that it generated that was tasteless. What is a Christian to do? If she stayed, there are probably some who would criticize her for compromising her Christian principle and lowering her standards or being a hypocrite. So she leaves; and others view her like a prudish little self-righteous snob. As far as little girls worshiping satan cuz they watched Katy Perry, I gotta go with MT - that's a little weird. Kinda like saying my son is going to be an adulterer cuz he read the story of David and Bathsheeba. Quote

fccool Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Quote: What was tasteless about reporting on the performances by some? Doesn't matter whether or not any are actually satanists, that is the impression they wanted to leave and they did. Who said it was tasteless? My first point was about that she already knew what she was walking into. Her reaction is the same as any of us walking into a strip club and tweeting "I've never been more proud to be a Christian. I don't condemn anyone in particular, I love everyone, but tonight was a great reminder of how I love to be holy" My second point was about irrelevance of such act, which ties into my first point, on top of the pointing out that the message did the opposite what she was trying to do. I can pretty much guarantee you that kids that didn't see those performances and didn't care to see them ran to YouTube immediately, and they probably were as disappointed as I was in terms of not seeing the hell on earth unravel in someone having a sex on stage, followed by a Katy Perry drinking blood. Beyonce's performance was actually fairly mild by current standards. I'm not approving of it, I'm simply stating that I didn't really see more than a common reflection of our society in terms of what you see during prime-time television. If people think that Katy Perry's performance was scandalous and Satanic, they should definitely avoid watching the Wizard of Oz ... that movie is filled with "Satanism" and "witchcraft". Beyonce and Jay-Z performance was fairly mild compared to some of Beyonce's music videos, or things that we've seen years prior. On top of that, she dished out this passive-aggressive comment to the likes of "I'm going to go now, because I've never felt felt sure of dwelling among the beautiful people until I've met you. I'm not saying that you are ugly... I'm just saying that I've never been so sure about having a beautiful family until I saw your face today." :) Quote

I did regret posting this after the negative comments concerning the actions of this performer. I don't at this point as I realize you and others know exactly what she knew why she was there. I didn't have that knowledge when I posted it. I still do give her credit for leaving and handling it the way she did even tho it seems to upset "some" that anyone could honestly object to the programming. I will continue to have more of a problem with those than want to playact with Satan and those that don't think that should be a problem, than I do someone that gets up and quietly leaves. I think that it's not a very fair characterization here in light of the dynamics of the events such as these. Grammys don't generally choreograph the performances. That's a job of the PR and Production machine behind those artists who are given stage time. Few artists these days even write their own music. They generally buy it off someone and make it their own. They are more like actors than anything else in that sense. In terms of the nominations, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences is fairly objective in a sense that there are various categories of music that exists out there, since recording companies generally nominate their artists. So, it's hard to lump all of that as "worldly and Satanic", when there's a bit of everything. I actually think that Christian artist walking out is somewhat missing the point of what Grammys are. There were 3 Christian artists that took the stage that day, and represented that segment of music industry. Grant would have walked out on them too (I don't know, since she didn't specify when she left), not just on the heathens. Quote
M. T. Cross Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Bonnie I would agree with you that it was cool that she was true to her beliefs and quietly left.... Except that she took it to social media. She had to let people know that she did it. Which to me screams passive aggressive publicity seeking. That may be cynical of me, but that's how it comes across imo. Others may have a different view on it, and that's fair enough. Regarding the performances...... So I watched the Beyonce and Jay-Z one last night. While I can understand that some people feel that it was a highly sexualized song and performance and be offended by that, I would offer another point of view. It was a performance by a married couple. A couple that has been together for a while, and who's highly sexualized performance was about being with each other - their legal, rings and wedding ceremony spouse. So in a way they are promoting marital values. I think the most offensive thing about it was that they let Jay-Z have a mic. May be a marketing genius and a music mogul, but he is really a horrible rapper. phkrause 1 Quote
