Bible Jim Posted May 1, 2014 Posted May 1, 2014 Why do you believe Jesus is God, when you can read word for word in the Book of Numbers, Chapter 23, 19: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Do you believe this or is this a lie? 1. Jesus was a man. 2. Jesus was a son of man. Is everything in this verse from the Bible...TRUE? Yes or no? Chapter 23, 19: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Bible Jim Posted May 2, 2014 Author Posted May 2, 2014 BIBLE JIM IN JOHN chapter 1 verses 1--2--3--14 I will not try to write all these verse but here is the context JESUS who is call the word was with GOD the FATHER from the beginning and then the bible says that the word (JESUS) became flesh and dwelt among us---FLESH means ( people or human beings) so JESUS who was GOD was also human dgrimm60 Is God still a human? Yes or no? Quote
JoeMo Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Quote: Is God still a human? Yes or no? Christians (for the most part) believe in a triune God, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Those who do not believe in a triune God usually reject the Holy Spirit as a Person; they view Him more as a "power". God the Father is entirely God; always has been and always will be. The being that became Jesus was "begotten" (as opposed to being created); which to me means He was made out of the same "God stuff" as the Father. Before He was Jesus, the son of man, He was the visible being with whom humans interacted in the OT. When this being became Jesus, the Son of God; He left His "God stuff" in heaven and indeed became a human (while remaining God") - it defies logic and rational explanation; but some things will have to wait for eternity to be explained). It wasn't until Jesus returned to heaven that He got His "God stuff" back. So He was God; then God-man; and now He's God again (although He will always retain His humanity, as well). At least that's how I see it. Quote
JoeMo Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 I believe that the being who became Jesus was the being referred to in Daniel 3:25 as "like the Son of God". I also believe that He was the being referred to frequently in the OT as "the angel of the Lord". In the NT, even though He was human, He was also fully God (had to be - He allowed people to worship Him). I can't rationally wrap my mind around it; but if I believe the Bible is God's Word, I gotta go with what I think God's Word says - understanding it or not. I think some spiritual truths are more intuitive than rational. Quote
M. T. Cross Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Is God still a human? Yes or no? I think maybe 1% of ALL the Gods may have started off as humans. Now if you take into account the sheer number of Gods in the Hindu pantheons 1% is made that much more significantly insignificant. Humans are not Gods. We simply aren't. Here is an absolutely wonderful blog pos...humans and Gods So the question is this. Did one part of the Biblical pantheon chose to incarnate as a human? If so did he retain his godhood while a human? Did he go back to being a God after his human experience was done? Or did one of the Biblical pantheon impregnate a young woman (which if you look at the stories of the Gods in that area at that time was pretty common) and the demi God offspring became a great teacher and eventually joined his father? So you see Bible Jim, its just not as simple as yes or no. There are many possibilities and variations. Why don't you tell us what YOU think or believe and then we can have an adult discussion about it. Quote

Sojourner Posted May 2, 2014 Posted May 2, 2014 Revelation 1:8 "I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, says the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty". Sounds pretty reasonable, Jehovah is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. At least that is who He declares Himself to be in the King James Version. Revelation 21:6-7 "Then He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who thirsts from the spring of the water of life without cost. "He who overcomes will inherit these things, and I will be his God and he will be My son". I will be his God and he will be My Son. Again, pure SDA theology there. Isaiah also speaks on the subject, Isaiah 44:6 - "Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel and his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts: `I am the first and I am the last, And there is no God besides Me. I am the First and I am the Last, and there is no God besides Me. - total agreement there, that is a good description of Jehovah. Isaiah 48:12 "Listen to Me, O Jacob, even Israel whom I called; I am He, I am the first, I am also the last". Second reference that states openly from Isaiah that Jehovah is the First and the Last. So who then does Jesus say He is in respect to Numbers 23:19, is he a man or a son of man? Lets have a look at what Revelation 1:17-18 has to say on this very subject, Revelation 1:17-18 "When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades. "I am the First and the Last, the Living One and I was Dead and behold I am Alive for Evermore" If Jehovah is the First and the Last as described above, when did Jehovah Die? Was it not Jesus that died on the cross..? When did Jehovah die Bible Jim? Quote

Hebrews 1:1-9: "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? And again, when he bringeth in the first begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son [he saith], Thy throne, O God, [is] for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness [is] the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, [even] thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows." Hebrews 2:9-11: "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified [are] all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren," Quote grw

Aliensanctuary Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Quote: 1. Jesus was a man.2. Jesus was a son of man. Although YHVH, aka "God", is not made of flesh and blood as we are, the person he calls his son was no different from us except that he was able to communicate telepathically with his "father", via prayer, that is. YHVH spoke to humans through his son, and via his Spirit, he used Jesus to heal the sick and forgive sins. The words Christ spoke, then, were the words of YHVH, his father. Jesus, as a son of man, then, indicates that he was merely human, not the non-human blazing being of energy that his father, or creator, is. Christ's destiny: to rule the Restored Kingdom of New Earth in the place of Adam, who forfeited this position. Quote The Parable of the Lamb and the Pigpen https://www.createspace.com/3401451Â
JoeMo Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 Quote: he was able to communicate telepathically with his "father", via prayer, that is. YHVH spoke to humans through his son, and via his Spirit Through His indwelling Holy Spirit, we have the same access to the Father as Jesus did. We just don't "practice" listening to the still small voice enough to be able to consistently discern God's voice from the other "voices" in our head. Another problem is that we always ask God to bless what we are doing, rather than doing what God is already blessing.
