Woody Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Why are the Oregon Campmeeting officials asking women to remain calm in the restrooms? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 Maybe it's a joke, and we're just having to wait for the punchline. Quote LD
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 Based upon the logo attached to your post, it must be because spiders may bite them. Logo: An active spider crawling about. Quote Gregory
Woody Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Funny Gregory Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Maybe it's a joke, and we're just having to wait for the punchline. No Joke LynnDel. But while I haven't been in the woman's restroom to confirm this .... I do have it on good authority that it is true. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 I am hoping that the individual that has the proof .... will step forward and confirm this with visual evidence. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 Hmmm... I guess I failed that test. Trying again. Quote LD
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 That sign is on the inside of every stall door I have visited, so I assume it is on all of them. I may need to take one after the weekend, for my scrapbook. Quote LD
Woody Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Have you remained calm LynnDel? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 We need a conference official to get to the bottom of this story. Where is Stan when you need him? Stan --- can you find out why the Oregon Conference is pressuring the women to remain calm? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 I still think that it related to a possible biting spider. Quote Gregory
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 Not to mention any barking spiders. Quote LD
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 I have not been able to remain calm. The signs send me into fits of giggles. Quote LD
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 The discussion of this has reached a point where I believe that we need a response from the Oregon Conference. Therefore, I have e-mailed them the following: Quote: http://clubadventist.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/703354/1.html On the Internet, at the above listed URL, a message has been posted stating that in every stall, in the women’s restroom, at the Oregon Campmeeting, asking the women to remain calm. Attached to one of the messages is a photo of the sign and of a drawing of a toilet. This has attracted some degree of attention. People are wondering why the Oregon Conference has felt it necessary to advice the women to remain calm while performing a normal biological function. Was it also necessary to advice the men to remain calm while performing such a function? The attention given to this aspect of Oregon Conference ministry has reached such a point in the discussion that I would like to bring it to your attention and ask you for a response. Please note that If you make a response to me, I will post it on the Internet. Gregory Matthews They probably will not respond to me until after the weekend. But, when they do respond, I will post their response here. Quote Gregory
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 18, 2014 Moderators Posted July 18, 2014 Any response will be valuable. Thanks, Gregory Quote LD
Moderators lazarus Posted July 19, 2014 Moderators Posted July 19, 2014 Someone organizing the camp meeting is in touch with pop culture. Moderators LynnDel Posted July 19, 2014 Moderators Posted July 19, 2014 The "only" makes it make sense. The "keep calm" is crazy! Where is that from, Lazarus? Quote LD
Woody Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 I can verify that the Oregon Conference was not concerned with the men not remaining calm. This sign was only in the women's restrooms. But I have another beef with the Oregon Conference. They have three times the number of rest rooms for the women compared to the men. I counted them. Now this is clearly a sexist policy. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 19, 2014 Moderators Posted July 19, 2014 It's not sexist; it's meeting real need. Quote LD
Moderators lazarus Posted July 19, 2014 Moderators Posted July 19, 2014 Keep Calm and Carry On was a motivational poster produced by the British government in 1939 in preparation for the Second World War. The poster was intended to raise the morale of the British public in the aftermath of widely predicted mass air attacks on major cities.[1][2] Although 2.45 million copies were printed, and although the Blitz happened, the poster was never publicly displayed and was little known about until a copy was rediscovered in 2000. It has since been re-issued by a number of private companies, and has been used as the decorative theme for a range of products Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Woody Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 Comparing the Blitz with women's toilet needs? And may I point out that in the wisdom of the Oregon Conference .... the men's needs were not compared to the Blitz. I feel the Oregon Conference owes us an explanation as to why the men did not get this privilege also. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Moderators LynnDel Posted July 19, 2014 Moderators Posted July 19, 2014 Interesting, Lazarus. I'm glad you are enough in touch with pop culture to enlighten me. I learn something new all the time! Quote LD
