Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 19, 2014 Members Posted July 19, 2014 as per the Conference officials, "the signs are leftover from an earlier Camp Meeting -- the substance is a testimony to the efficacy of American plumbing, while the style is a parody of a famous British sign." Apparently someone just forgot to removed the signs... Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Moderators LynnDel Posted July 19, 2014 Moderators Posted July 19, 2014 Thanks, Pam. The earlier Campmeeting was the Spanish one. I wonder if they caught on that it was British humor. I didn't, and I had up to now considered myself a widely-read person! Quote LD

Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 19, 2014 Members Posted July 19, 2014 yeah, I thought the signs were sorta dumb.. Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted July 19, 2014 Administrators Posted July 19, 2014 The reality of less robust plumming in some countries is that you can only flush what comes out of you. Toilet paper clogs up the toilet so a trash can is provided by the toilet into which one has to place their used toilet paper. Those attending the camp meeting form such countries and used to that system would likely panic if no trash can is available and not know what to do with their used toilet paper. And if they did put it in the toilet they might worry they would clog the toilet when they flush it. And risk a panic inducing overflow. Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted July 19, 2014 Moderators Posted July 19, 2014 Why tell the women to be calm, but not the men. Yes, in other countries the bathroom customs may differ from those in the USA. I once lived in a country where the toilet was not something that one would sit upon. In that country the bathrooms were coed. I still remember my Father who was visiting me as he reported his feelings when a woman walked in on him when he was doing his business. Anyway, I will await the response of the Oregon Conference to my question. Quote Gregory
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 19, 2014 Members Posted July 19, 2014 Gregory, they've already made a statement about it. The signs were left over from an earlier campmeeting, and just hadn't been taken down. It's amazing that this thread has garnered such interest.... yet, not all that surprising... Woody Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 This topic is of vital interest to those of us who want to see WO. If the Oregon Conference looks down on women like this and claim that they alone need to be calm .... then how will they be able to promote WO when the time comes? And if it were true that the conference just 'forgot' to take the signs down ... why are they still up now? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 We are home from the Oregon Campmeeting and still no official response from the Oregon Conference on this issue. The silence is deafening .
