Guest Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Yesterday in the SS class , we had 100% participation. Some either read John scripture verses, brought additional information, made comments, or read supporting SOP material or relevant SDA info on the topic of the lesson. I only asked for John verses reading volunteers , the rest was on their own... Getting there.... Quote
ChildofChrist Posted March 7, 2004 Posted March 7, 2004 Praise the Lord. There are times that I feel I have to force myself to keep my mouth shut in class so others have the opportunity to speak. There are some that hardly say a word though, whether or not the teacher or I am talking. It's just when in studying, there are gems to be shared. And I use to be a major introvert. Guest Posted March 8, 2004 Posted March 8, 2004 That was because the Lesson has a title.."True Greatness" So we did spend some time on it..yet covered several principles as well. What are you doing..trying to hijack this thread ?? Get over onto my TOPICAL SERMON thread...sheesh!!!! Quote
Guest Posted March 13, 2004 Posted March 13, 2004 THE SS LESSON COVERS MORE SCRIPTURE VERSES THAN ANY OF THE OTHER LESSONS..99 (JOHN 13:31-16:33) I WAS LOOKING AT VARIOUS PARTS OF THE LESSON TO SEE THE VARIOUS PRINCIPLES EXPOSED. GOING AWAY..(OMNIPRESENCE) REMAINING CONNECTED TO JESUS ...( LEGALISM, OBEDIENCE, COMMANDMENTS, LOVE, IN CHRIST) SEEDS OF THE SPIRIT...COUNSELOR (GET MARRIAGE COUNSELING..GET ANGER MANAGEMENT COUNSELING) ULTIMATE GUIDE...PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE, AUTONOMY, DOING WHAT IS RIGHT IN ONES OWN EYES, NO HARMONY OR UNITY LIKE WHAT IS PRAYED FOR IN JOHN 17) HOW CAN THE HOLY SPIRIT BE A BETTER COUNSELOR THAN A $200 AN HOUR PSYCHOLGIST? WHEN IS A $200/HR PSYCHOLOGIST BETTER THAN RELYING ON THE HOLY SPIRIT? Quote
Guest Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Do you read your SS lesson to handle your insomnia? Let's see..this lesson deals with Ahazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. YAwwwwwwnnnn.....uh..slapping my self in the face to stay awake.. let's see we have the occult and witches and the state of the .yawn...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz....dead.... and a king who lived 2700..years ago...Ahazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.. Nicodema Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 Yeah, I'm wondering myself why the obsession with the picayune minutae of historical detail. Give an overview of what king ruled when, did what and why, who all these other kings were and what was the relationship, etc. and LEAVE IT at that, it can be covered in one day's worth! Or even as "for further study" -- give some meaty references, etc. At this rate we will never make it to the real "meat" of Isaiah. The book has 66 chapters!! Let's see ... we are in week four and on chapter what ... 9-10?? Oy. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
Guest Posted April 24, 2004 Posted April 24, 2004 In evangelical circles...our state of the dead is referred to as soul sleep...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Quote
Guest Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 Hey, I think we have a chance to have a good lesson this sabbath. It deals with internal cognitive and altruistic themes...not the typical stuff....nitty gritty stufff!!! "My thoughts are not your thoughts...." wow that is loaded!!!! And delving into the ritualistic selfish religious sabbath observance verses an altuistic attitude...and approach.. THAT can sure challenge some sabbath "LAY activities" and the usual... COMPLACENT, APATHEIC, PASSIVE, INDIFFERENT STATUS QUO!!!! YOU KNOW..THE USUAL....GIMMEE, GIMMEEE, GIMMEE, I NEED , I NEED ..FEED ME AT CHURCH STUFF I hope there are some who do a little home work and bring some lively challenging , moral decision making goodies to their class.. HEB 4 "12": For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Guest Posted June 8, 2004 Posted June 8, 2004 Hey R U up to it ..or are you going to do the usual SABBATH SLIME????? Don't you think Jesus deserves a little bit better??? Quote
Clio Posted May 17, 2005 Posted May 17, 2005 Quote: Why do you go? I rarely go.... All the Sabbath Schools in our area... and there are only two... don't allow much member participation. We worship at home.... Quote: B- With the word of God in his hands, every human being, wherever his lot in life may be cast, may have such companionship as he shall choose. In its pages he may hold converse with the noblest and best of the human race, and may listen to the voice of the Eternal as He speaks with men. As he studies and meditates upon the themes into which "the angels desire to look" (1 Peter 1:12), he may have their companionship. He may follow the steps of the heavenly Teacher, and listen to His words as when He taught on mountain and plain and sea. He may dwell in this world in the atmosphere of heaven, imparting to earth's sorrowing and tempted ones thoughts of hope and longings for holiness; himself coming closer and still closer into fellowship with the Unseen; like him of old who walked with God, drawing nearer and nearer the threshold of the eternal world, until the portals shall open, and he shall enter there. He will find himself no stranger. The voices that will greet him are the voices of the holy ones, who, unseen, were on earth his companions --voices that here he learned to distinguish and to love. He who through the word of God has lived in fellowship with heaven, will find himself at home in heaven's companionship. {Ed 127.1} That is soooo true. I know when it's an angel, I know when it's the Spirit, I know when it's Jesus, and when it THUNDERS in my very being... it's Abba Father. Although.... once...when Jesus commanded a SEEKING OF HIS WILL... it thundered too... but I still knew it for Jesus... there's just a timbre to Abba Father's thundering that is unmistakable and indescribable... It's like ... if the Universe had a Voice..... I cannot wait to see Jesus and hear with my physical ears what He has whispered in my mind and heart. I cannot wait to speak face to face with my angel, who has brought messages more than once. I cannot wait to bow before the Throne of the Most High.... will I be able to do any thing more than let the tears flow? Oh Abba Father, please hasten Thy Hand... Let my Bridegroom come soon! Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
