Nothing about worship: 8“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work.... Now I must ask "why"? 11For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. We are not to "rest" in order to worship, but because God is the creator. Quote

If we are to rest as God rested we must ask "why did God rest?"...Was He tired? No. Then why? Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 By the seventh dayGod had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.3 And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. God rested because His work was perfect...it was complete. It was also sinless. All creation reflected God's perfect and sinless work. According to the 4th commandment we are to rest because we agree that God's work of creation is perfect. Quote

But there's a problem: God's creation has been ruined by the fall. That is why Moses gave it a redemptive significance (see Deut 5:15). In the NT Paul links the Sabbath, not to creation or the Jew's deliverance from slavery, but Christ's finished work upon the cross. See Heb 4:1-10. This is the NT, NC reason to keep the Sabbath. All other reasons, to me, are contradictory or legalistic. Quote
