Twilight on the Jordan River (“the Yarden”) by Michael Shmidt. In Hebrew, “Yarden” means “descent” and refers to the river’s sources, coming from the melted snow of Mount Hermon, which flows down through the Sea of Galilee before reaching the river.

The IDF’s Northern Command operates under tough weather conditions and extreme terrain, with the aim of maintaining the quiet on the potentially explosive Syrian border. If necessary, they’re equipped to shoot and ski at the same time.

We marvel at the words of the prophet Ezekiel who describes the desolate cities becoming inhabited as we see today in Noam Chen’s photo of Tel Aviv, with the Mediterranean in the distance. Tel Aviv is Israel’s second most populous city, after Jerusalem.

Ilan Rosen’s photo features the magnificent Gamla in northern Israel. One look at the hump-like shape of the hill is enough to understand why it was called Gamla, which comes from the Hebrew word for camel/ גמל (“gamal”).

If you’re looking to find this lovely boardwalk near Jaffe port, ask the locals for the “ta-ye-let,” which is Hebrew for “promenade.” The Jaffe Promenade runs 14 km along the beach and by foot or by bicycle, it’s a fun day’s activity.
