It has recently been confirmed beyond dispute that Iraq did in fact have WMD. All those people who called President Bush a liar owe him and all of us an apology. It definitely is wrong for anyone to perpetuate those defamatory lies.

From 2004 to 2011, American and American-trained Iraqi troops repeatedly encountered, and on at least six occasions were wounded by, chemical weapons remaining from years earlier in Saddam Hussein’s rule.

In all, American troops secretly reported finding roughly 5,000 chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs, according to interviews with dozens of participants, Iraqi and American officials, and heavily redacted intelligence documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

Nice find Ron. One has to wonder about the 'early years' when would that have been?  I wonder if it was some of the stuff they were sold from the US, back in the Ragan days. Back when Irag and US were friends.??

I know the US, and a few other countries, Israel, India Pakistan, Britain..  have WMD..  who gives approval for some to have them and not other.  I forget to say Russia..  I think France may have some as well..??

So, you wish to hide behind the FICTION of nationhood as an excuse to duck our moral obligation to aid our fellow human beings when they are being monstrously violated by the tens of thousands by psychopathic, sociopathic tyrants? Should we care that anyone else in the world starves, as long as we are well fed? This is the kind of selfish thinking for which I always condemned the antiwar sentiment of the Vietnam demonstrators, and all antiwar activists since then. They have no morality on their side at all. NONE! They never did. What they thought was morality was really just the very cheapest form of self-righteousness. Had such "moralists" (then called "appeasers") prevailed, Nazi Germany would now rule the world, and the Jewish race would be extinct.

The question is, who decides who can have them or not?  I really think it was a blunder when George W threatened to use them.  When his successor addressed the issue and said "Lets talk" the world breathed a sigh of relieve, which got him the Noble Peace Prize.

 

Everyone blunders, I am the chief of that,  that was his biggest blunder. My respect for GWB increased somewhat what he said he trusted some people he should not have trusted.

Now to the controversy in the news yesterday:

President Bush declared the war in Iraq. Bush as Commander and Chief sent the American men and women to fight and to be maimed and killed in Iraq. And now as a private citizen, this former Commander and Chief has charged a veteran's aide group $150K plus $20K for travel expenses to speak at their fund raiser for the purpose of raising money to help those vets who were wounded in his war.

And Laura Bush charged the same group $50k for attending an event that was convened to present her with memento honoring her public service for vets.

So what can be said about Bush and the Iraq war?

As an oilman in the White house, Iraq was a cash cow. And the cash flow did not stop when he left politics.

Oh please! Bill Clinton has made millions in speaking fees since he left office. Estimated at over 100 million dollars!

Is that significant to this conversation? Bill could have made 10 times what GW took in for his speaking fees.

But GW declared the war that killed and maimed the vets and then Bush charged to help them.

The CNN report stated that Bill Clinton spoke to Veteran groups for free.

Did your research show that Bill Clinton ever charged a veteran's group to speak to them?

I don't question that they made money from the Bush appearance.

The organizers said that they made $1.5 million on his appearance. They were pleased with the return.

Is it defensible for GW to cause so much death and destruction and then to profit off it?

[You may be a fan of GW and I may appear to be attacking him, but I am politically neutral. I don't believe in political parties and I know that God puts the men in office that He deems best to accomplish His will. (I can give you His word on that times 3). From that perspective, I'm neutral on Clinton and Obama as well. Just follow the facts and the truth will take care of itself.]
