bonnie Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 End of ISIS? Putin 'sending 150,000 soldiers to Syria to WIPE OUT evil Islamic State' VLADIMIR Putin is preparing to send 150,000 troops to Syria in a bid to wipe out the evil Islamic State once and for all. By SCOTT CAMPBELL PUBLISHED: 06:43, Sun, Oct 4, 2015 | UPDATED: 12:01, Sun, Oct 4, 2015 The Russian leader is reportedly mounting an enormous military mission to take control of the terror group's stronghold of Raqqa. The city is the self-declared capital of ISIS in Syria and is patrolled by as many as 5,000 jihadi members. Putin is set to mobilise 150,000 reservists who he conscripted into the military earlier this week. An insider revealed: "It is very clear that Russia wants to sweep up the west of the country, taking Raqqa and all the oil and gas resources around Palmyra. "This is fast becoming a race to Raqqa – to secure the oil fields they need to cleanse the region of insurgents, and the IS capital is vital to do that." It comes a day after Russian jets obliterated nine ISIS outposts in just 24 hours using bunker-busting bombs. Russian jets pounded terrorist targets and blew up a command centre, potentially killing dozens of fighters. Confirming the successful raids, Andrei Kartapolov from the Russian army vowed to ramp up the pressure, saying: "We will not only continue strikes... We will also increase their intensity." And Russian Defence Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said: "Over the past 24 hours, Sukhoi Su-34 and Su-24M fighter jets have performed 20 sorties and hit nine Islamic State installations. “A bunker-busting BETAB-500 air bomb dropped from a Sukhoi Su-34 bomber near Raqqa has eliminated the command post of one of the terror groups, together with an underground storage facility for explosives and munitions. "These and other highly exact means of attack in recent days have been used to target objects of Islamic State terrorists. "Command posts, stores of weapons and oil products, workshops where weapons of suicide bombers are made." Meanwhile a terrorism expert revealed to Express.co.uk that ISIS have vastly exaggerated their military strength and called on Western leaders to launch a co-ordinated fightback which would obliterate the hate group. Dr Afzal Ashraf said ISIS has become its own worst enemy with its campaign of terror against the West, which has prompted an international backlash. He said: "This mythical state will disappear in a matter of hours once the international community decides to act. "It won't take very long at all to drive them, if not out of all of Iraq or Syria, then certainly the majority of their territories. "They will hide in towns, but I would say do not to follow them as they would use innocent civilians as human shields."hDavid Cameron initially gave the Russian air strikes a cautious welcome and said the UK would need to look "very carefully" at Putin's operations. But yesterday he warned the intervention is making the situation worse and helping to support the "butcher" president Bashar Assad. Seperately Mr Cameron pledged to "beef up" the SAS and double the number of British drones to combat ISIS militants in an interview ahead of today's Conservative conference. The Prime Minister said investment in special forces and surveillance was essential to meeting the terrorist threat facing the UK. He revealed that the UK will buy a fleet of 20 new Protector drones capable of targeting IS extremists in Iraq and Syria. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Most seem to think he's more interested in keeping his buddy in Syria, in power. This also gives him a stronger foot hold there and a little closer to Israel!! Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Aliensanctuary Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Perhaps no nation but Russia is really interested in destroying ISIS. It would actually only take a few short weeks, not the many years that some liars forecast. JoeMo and Naomi 2 Quote The Parable of the Lamb and the Pigpen https://www.createspace.com/3401451
Moderators Bravus Posted October 5, 2015 Moderators Posted October 5, 2015 We'll see. Given that Western interventions tend to cause more soldiers to be recruited as they are killed, the assumption that it's 'kill these few thousand soldiers and its all over' is wildly optimistic. whbae Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Obama having no foreign policy experience Putin outsmarted Obama thus American SUPER power is gone to Russia. Putin is not interested in getting rid of Isis as we do. He is interested in controlling Middle East. Now, he got a chance to do it with Syria. He will get rid of all the rebels of Assad, never mind Isis. Too bad, so sad, world super power America is now under dog and no one will respect us in the world! Quote
JoeMo Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 U.S. Foriegn Policy has completely collapsed under the Obama regime. The U.S. is "losing" everywhere in the world. Maybe if Obama had grown a pair a few years ago, Russia wouldn't be erasing what little influence the U.S. still had after destroying Iraq. We need to learn from our past mistakes. The U.S destroyed that balance when they took out Hussein and then deserted them. It's not hard to see the leaps forward (NOT!) made by Iraq since then. Assad is a vicious totalitarian dictator; but he is a strong leader who lends stability to the region as a counterweight to ISIS. U.S efforts to dethrone ISIS are puny and ineffective, not to mention obscenely expensive. Russia coming in like a bull in a China shop may be a good thing as opposed to the U.S. pretending to fight ISIS; and telling us that we're actually winning. Only a Democrat would believe that kind of rubbish. War is supposed to be a violent military activity. The Obama administration has turned it into an impotent political broo-ha-ha that is ruining our country's reputation as a righteous superpower. Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted October 5, 2015 Moderators Posted October 5, 2015 I don't think your rant is coherent: an all-out war made Iraq worse, but will make Syria better? Or is it purely about America remaining the biggest aggressor in the world? As I think someone said above: best outcome for America is likely to withdraw and leave Russia to it. Reverse what Russia did with Afghanistan... phkrause, Stan and CoAspen 3 Quote Truth is important
CoAspen Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Only a Democrat would believe that kind of rubbish. War is supposed to be a violent military activity. The Obama administration has turned it into an impotent political broo-ha-ha that is ruining our country's reputation as a righteous superpower. Don't get out much? You know everyone's opinion and are the judge of its validity? A rather arrogant statement. The same people who were protesting the loss of American lives in Iraq, now think we should still be there. They want to run their own country, not us. The days of colonialism are over. We, US, can't fix the whole world, it comes down to what benefits, directly the USA. Just a fact of life. It's not longer about who is the biggest bully on the block. What is righteous about being a superpower....suffer the little children to come unto me for such is the kingdom of heaven.... phkrause 1 Quote
LoneRanger Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 ... a righteous superpower. A righteous superpower? Seriously, a "righteous superpower"?? What's next? Manifest Destiny, perhaps? Just for the record, the Obama admin, DID NOT destroy "our country's reputation as a righteous superpower." because that is NOT the reputation it has or had. Certainly not outside the US, at any rate. phkrause 1 Quote
JoeMo Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 Okay, I repent using the word "righteous"; - that just seems to be the attitude of those who think the U.S should be the world police; but I don't repent of using the term "superpower" (although I may have to use that term in the past tense). And LR is correct - much of the rest of the world views the U.S. as an imperialist bully. I also agree that if the U.S. is not going to step up its game and utterly destroy ISIS and its allies, that we should just get out and let Russia do it. Either way, there will be unintended adverse circumstances. Don't get out much? You know everyone's opinion and are the judge of its validity? A rather arrogant statement. I do get out a lot. It is a Democrat administration that is telling us we are beating back ISIS. It is a Democrat administration that is tying the military's hands and preventing them from doing what solldiers do; and firing any military leaders who disagree. It is a Democrat who is pushing to make gun ownership illegal, so only people who do illegal thingswill have guns. It is a Democrat administration that is paying roughly $1 Million per trainee to train rebels to "fight" ISIS. It is the weapons sent by a Democratic administration that are ending up in ISIS hands. How much better off are you now after 7 years of Democrat Leadership? How much better off is the world after 7 years of Democrat Leadership? How much more religious freedom exists in the world (indeed - in the U.S.) after 7 years of Democrat leadership? I may be arrogant to think that Republicans or Libertarians could do a better job; but it's not arrogant to face the facts. This country and the world are worse off after 7 years of Democrat leadership. The only groups who have prospered under this administration are politicians, despots, and Islam. Naomi 1 Quote

bonnie Posted October 7, 2015 Author Posted October 7, 2015 What does far mean? 2.8 million jobs lost in 2008. 2.95 jobs gained in 2014. Incontrovertible evidence IMHO. This is what far means Time Magazine Report: Low-Pay Jobs Replace High-Pay Jobs Since Recession Charlotte Alter @charlottealter April 28, 2014 Keith Bedford—ReutersA diner sits next to a help wanted sign at a McDonalds restaurant in the Brooklyn borough of New York, on March 7, 2014.A new report by the National Employment Law Project finds that unsteady economic recovery has been powered by the replacement of high-earning jobs lost in the recession with low-paying positions in the service industry Even as the economy has slowly emerged from the worst downturn since the Great Depression, job growth since 2008 has come predominantly in the form of low-wage service industry jobs replacing high-earning jobs lost in the recession, according to a new report. Although employment rates have roughly reached pre-recession levels, most of the jobs gained since 2008 have been in lower-wage industries, according to a report from theNational Employment Law Project. Lower-wage industries accounted for 22% of recession job losses, but are responsible for 44% of the hiring in the recovery. There are now almost two million more low-wage workers than there were at the start of the recession, according to the report. High-wage jobs accounted for 41% of job losses but have only grown 30% since the recession, and mid-wage jobs made up 37% of job losses but only 26% of recent employment growth. That means there are almost two million fewer high- and mid-wage jobs than there were before the 2008 collapse, according to the report. After 49 consecutive months of jobs growth, employment levels are roughly back to where they were before the collapse. The growth in low-wage jobs has been powered in part by retail and by the food and beverage industry. The report focused on the private sector, but local government employment has declined by 627,000 jobs since the recession, with 44% of those losses taken from local education. I gotta admit CoA, that it really doesn't matter which party is in charge, the situation would be the same. Dems and Repubs have the same goals, but have different means to achieve it. The thing about fact-checking - who has the "facts"? The U.S. - based news services are reporting different things than the independent and foreign-based news. Fox and CNN even report different viewpoints. Whose "facts" are we gonna believe? Quote

There are actually a lot of sources for finding out the facts, after one excludes all of those with agenda's, which can be difficult at best. I really don't get to excited about political news, as there is almost always an agenda. There are sources available that do a pretty good job of objective fact checking. Part of the required common sense is to be very skeptical about reports that differ from others in a contradictory way. And considering the source is important. Certain news sources, like Fox, have been so frequently proven wrong and or reporting things diffently than most others that one should be very skeptical of whatever they report. Their right wing bias and Republican Party propagandist agenda is undeniable. The problemis that common sense really isn't all that common when it comes to anything within the political realm. People just determinedly cling to what they want to believe, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Global climate change and the economy, for example.
