If we avoid the conditions of the promise, this can be the outcome.

Since without Jesus we can do nothing, getting acquainted with Him seems the most important thing we can do.

Do you fight back? Endure it? Try to escape? I think that all of us are victim to abuse at one time or another, something that another person inflicts upon us that causes us suffering.

I was a abused child up until I was about 6 years old by a alcoholic who beat me and my mom, daily.  Instead of a bottle of milk I was given beer.  Instead of love, I was loathed and hated.  Why?  Because as it turns out my mom was pregnant with me before she married this AWOL Marine.  Finally she fled Maryland and brought me to my grandparents.  My grandparents said that I was black and blue head to foot where he had repeatedly beat me with the belt buckle end of his belt.  

Then, unknown to my wonderful grandparents, they put me in SDA church school where I had to endure bullies and mean-spirited teachers up until the 5th-grade.  Boy, I was afraid of my own shadow.  My grades were terrible, usually Cs and Ds.  And then around 12 years old my grandparents, who had adopted me, allowed me to take Hapkido.  What do you think happen next? That's right, I bullied the bullies until all of them paid for their sins.   I paid them back and then some and all without doing jail time.  

Now, need I say how I would react if abused?  But then again, that's my nature....

One other point:  We are born slaves to sin....Yes, we can chose Christ, but up until that point we are slaves to our love of self.

Look, I was rushed because my wife and I were getting ready to get a bite to eat so I didn't really give it lot of thought.  I didn't mean to pick on Greg - its just I've often heard this repeated.

You see if God created us then God is responsible for making us sinners.  Yes, "in Adam" God originally created the human race perfect, but we came into this world after the fall.  Hence we are product of the fall.  That's our predicament in Adam.

As to your view, yes - you are right and I can give you the reference: 2 Cor 5:16-17

16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 

Anyway, back to the topic....
