By what name is serial killer Albert DeSalvo better known?

BOSTON STRANGER

Answer: Alberto DeSalvo is best known for confessing to be the "Boston Strangler". It was the 1960s and single women across Massachusetts were the target of a serial killer and rapist. When it was over, the Boston Strangler had killed 13 women. DeSalvo was never charged in the case and was found dead in his prison cell in 1973. However in 2013, a plastic water bottle that was discarded by DeSalvo’s nephew, gave police the DNA evidence they needed to bring closure to a case that had been a mystery for nearly 50 years.

Answer: The whip was the first human invention to break the sound barrier. The cracking sound a bullwhip makes when properly wielded is, in fact, a small sonic boom. A sonic boom is the sound associated with the shock waves created by an object traveling through the air faster than the speed of sound. Sonic booms generate enormous amounts of sound energy, sounding much like an explosion. The end of the whip, known as the "cracker", moves faster than the speed of sound, thus creating a sonic boom.

ps:image that!! I never would've guessed a whip!! Oh well.

ELVIS PRESLEY

Answer: Elvis Presley was born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to 18-year-old Vernon Elvis and 22-year-old Gladys Love Presley. In the two-room shotgun house built by his father in readiness for the birth, Jesse Garon Presley, his identical twin brother, was delivered 35 minutes before him, stillborn. Elvis was haunted by this his entire life. His mother Gladys used to say Elvis had the energy of 2 people. Elvis had no other siblings and grew up as an only child. Since his death, Elvis Presley has remained one of the world's most popular music icons.

7.2 MILLION

Answer: On this day in 1867, the U.S. formally takes possession of Alaska after purchasing the territory from Russia for $7.2 million, or less than two cents an acre. The Alaska purchase comprised 586,412 square miles, about twice the size of Texas, and was championed by William Henry Seward, the enthusiastically expansionist Secretary of State under President Andrew Johnson. At the time, critics thought Seward was crazy and called the deal "Seward's folly." The Senate ratified the treaty that approved the purchase by just one vote.

Answer: Beats Electronics LLC (also known as Beats by Dre) is a division of Apple Inc. that produces audio products. The company was founded by music producer and rapper Dr. Dre and Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine. In 2011, the Beats' market share was 64% in the U.S. for headphones priced higher than $100. On August 1, 2014, Apple Inc. acquired Beats for $3 billion in a cash and stock deal, the largest acquisition in Apple's history. The deal made Dr. Dre the "richest man in hip hop", surpassing P. Diddy.

Energizer

Answer: The Energizer Bunny is the marketing icon and mascot of Energizer batteries in North America. It is a pink toy rabbit wearing sunglasses and blue and black striped sandals that beats a bass drum bearing the Energizer logo. He was originally created as a parody to the TV ads for Duracell, Energizer’s biggest competitor. The Energizer Bunny has been going and going and going since 1988. In 2006, “energizer bunny” was added to the Oxford English Dictionary as “a persistent or indefatigable person or phenomenon.”

THE PHILIPPINES

Answer: Douglas MacArthur was an American General best known for his command of Allied forces in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Forced to flee during a Japanese assault on Bataan in the Philippines, General MacArthur famously promised "I came through and I shall return". He did, in fact return, and on this day in 1944, General MacArthur waded ashore onto the Philippine island of Leyte. That day, he made a radio broadcast in which he declared, “People of the Philippines, I have returned!” He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his defense of the Philippines.

USS  CONSTITUTION

Answer: USS Constitution, also known as Old Ironsides, is a wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate of the United States Navy named by President George Washington. She is the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel still afloat. She was first launched on this day in 1797, one of six original frigates authorized for construction by the Naval Act of 1794. During the War of 1812, the Constitution won its enduring nickname “Old Ironsides” after defeating numerous British warships. Witnesses claimed that the British shots merely bounced off the Constitution's sides, as if the ship were made of iron rather than wood.
