Elvis Presley

ELVIS PRESLY

Answer: Elvis Presley postage stamps are the most widely publicized stamp issued in the history of the United States Postal Service and it is the top selling commemorative postage stamp of all time. The Elvis postage stamps were released by the U.S. Postal Service on January 8, 1993. The USPS printed 500 million of them, three times the usual print run for a commemorative stamp. About 124.1 million of the 1993 Elvis Presley stamps were saved by Americans, according to the post office, which does an annual survey of 10,000 households to determine which stamps are most popular.

After marrying Prince Harry, Meghan Markle became the Duchess of what?

Sussex??

SUSSEX

Answer: After marrying Prince Harry at St. George’s Chapel in 2018, Meghan Markle became an official member of the royal family. Meghan Markle is now the Duchess of Sussex. She is the first woman to be known as the Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry is the second Duke of Sussex. Prince Augustus was the only other person to hold the title. After marrying Prince Harry, Markle can now use Mountbatten-Windsor as her surname. However, considering royals tend to be known only by their first names, it’s not likely you’ll see her addressed by that name very often.

JOHN F. KENNEDY

Answer: The U.S. Constitution famously prohibits any religious test or requirement for public office. Still, almost all of the nation’s presidents have been Christians and many have been Episcopalians or Presbyterians, with most of the rest belonging to other prominent Protestant denominations. Although Roman Catholicism has long been the nation’s largest religious denomination, John F. Kennedy remains the only Catholic president. And since Kennedy’s assassination in 1963, only one other Catholic, John Kerry, has been a presidential nominee on a major party ticket.

Answer: In 1975, Gary Dahl launched the sale of the pet rock which quickly turned him into a multi-millionaire. My Pet Rock sold for $3.95, and creator Gary Dahl unloaded more than five million of the igneous invertebrates in six months. He walked away with a cool $15 million. Dahl imported the rocks from Mexico, packaged them in a cardboard box that mimicked a pet carrier – complete with air holes, and a bed of straw. The fad only lasted about six months, and ended after a short increase in sales during the Christmas season of December 1975.

21 ELEPHANTS

Answer: On this day in 1883, The Brooklyn Bridge, linking Brooklyn and Manhattan, was opened to traffic for the first time. To test out the bridge, P.T. Barnum offered, he’d walk his troupe of elephants across it. On May 17, 1884, P.T. Barnum’s 21 elephants, including his star, Jumbo, crossed on foot from Manhattan to a circus showground in Brooklyn. The march of the circus animals across the bridge became an annual springtime ritual. It was a demonstration to the public that the bridge was safe and a brilliant promotional stunt for Barnum’s touring show.

Answer: Hoosier is the official demonym for a resident of the U.S. state of Indiana. The origin of the term remains a matter of debate within the state, but "Hoosier" was in general use by the 1840s, having been popularized by Richmond resident John Finley's 1833 poem "The Hoosier's Nest". Indiana adopted the nickname "The Hoosier State" more than 150 years ago. Albeit the official demonym of Indiana, the term "Indianan" is colloquially used in a more common sense due to unfamiliarity with the term, especially outside of Indiana.

B. U.S. Congressman

Although Fred Grandy probably could have made another run on television, his true passion was in the political arena. He went on to serve four terms in the United States Congress.

Answer: On this day in 1988, TV viewers saw one of the most famous — and perhaps the most debated — series finales in TV history. The episode marked the end of St. Elsewhere, an NBC drama about St. Eligius, a run-down Boston hospital headed by chief of staff Dr. Donald Westphall (Ed Flanders). The “St. Elsewhere” finale was the first big “it was all just a dream” finale, ending with the revelation that St. Eligius hospital and its staff were all the creations of an autistic boy and took place inside a snow globe. Although it enraged fans at the time, it’s now one of the most famous finales ever.

Which Character Almost Died in the Original Version of Return of the Jedi?

Fans of Return of the Jedi will be happy that the movie did not follow the original ending. The hero, Han Solo, dies in the original ending during his raid on the Death Star, and Luke becomes the evil Darth Vader. Apparently, Harrison Ford was not wild about the original script or the character he played.

What Was the Inspiration for Chewbacca?

It just so happens that George Lucas owned an Alaskan malamute named Indiana, which is a dog breed that can only be described as large and hairy. In another Lucas film, Sean Connery, playing Henry Jones in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, incorporates George Lucas' pet by saying that his son, Indiana, was named after their dog.

What Was the Smelliest Scene in the Star Wars Movies?

The trash compactor scene in the 1977 Star Wars film was disgusting to watch but even worse for the actors. Although it was only six minutes duration in the movie, the actors were decidedly uncomfortable standing in water that was full of smelly junk. Actor Mark Hamill reportedly burst a blood vessel from holding his breath because of the horrible smell, and Peter Mayhew’s wet Chewbacca suit stank during the rest of the filming because it was made of yak hair.

How Many People Portray Darth Vader?

Since Darth Vader is a huge presence in Star Wars, it took four men to play the character. David Prowse, a 6’5” bodybuilder, was used for the on-screen shots, and a stunt double named Bob Anderson was used for the action scenes and as the lightsaber-wielding dark lord. James Earl Jones is easily recognizable as Darth Vader’s voice, and Sebastian Shaw’s face is seen in Return of the Jedi in his role as Vader.

What James Bond Actor Played a Stormtrooper?

In a cameo appearance, Daniel Craig, appeared as a stormtrooper in The Force Awakens in one of the more fun scenes. Rey, who is a Jakku scavenger, tries to use the force on Stormtrooper Craig to get him to release her and leave the door open so she can escape. After entreating him to do so several times, he finally complies and at her request even hilariously drops his weapon as he walks out the door.
