HINDENGURG CRASH

Answer: On this day in 1937, the hydrogen-filled airship Hindenburg erupted into flames and crashed in Lakehurst, New Jersey, killing 36 passengers and crew members. Radio announcer Herb Morrison, who came to Lakehurst to record a routine voice-over for an NBC newsreel, immortalized the Hindenberg disaster in a famous on-the-scene description in which he emotionally declared, “Oh, the humanity!” The recording of Morrison’s commentary was immediately flown to New York, where it was aired as part of America’s first coast-to-coast radio news broadcast.

ANAHEIM DUCKS

Answer: The Anaheim Ducks are a professional ice hockey team based in Anaheim, California. They are members of the Pacific Division of the Western Conference of the National Hockey League (NHL). The club was founded in 1993 by The Walt Disney Company as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, a name based on the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks. Disney sold the franchise in 2005 to Henry and Susan Samueli, who changed the name of the team to the Anaheim Ducks before the 2006–07 season. The Ducks have made the playoffs 14 times and won six Pacific Division titles, two Western Conference championships and one Stanley Cup (2006–07).

TYPE O

Answer: There are four major blood groups: A, B, AB and O. Each group can be either RhD positive or RhD negative, which means in total there are eight main blood types. AB+ is the universal recipient blood type, meaning that patients with AB+ blood can receive blood from donors of any blood type if they require a transfusion. The immune system of a person with AB+ blood will accept blood from all possible donors, whether they have O, A, B, or AB blood. AB+ is one of the rarest of all the blood types with only 3% of the population sharing this power.

Answer: When President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed America’s first federal minimum wage into law in 1938, it was 25 cents per hour. Adjusted for inflation, that would be worth about $4.45 today. Throughout history, Congress has raised the minimum wage 22 times. The current level, at $7.25 an hour, was set in 2009. However, some states, cities, and counties have a higher minimum wage rate. As of January 2019, 29 states had a minimum wage rate above the federal level.

PHKRAUSE

the answer  is  WELCOME  BACK  KOTTER

dgrimm60

Answer: In 1975, John Sebastian, former member of the beloved 60s pop group the Lovin’ Spoonful, was asked to write and record the theme song for a brand-new television show with the working title Kotter. Sebastian had trouble finding rhymes for the word “Kotter” and ended up going with the more general “welcome back” theme. That song, “Welcome Back,” became the #1 song on the charts on this day in 1976. It also led producers to change the show’s title to Welcome Back, Kotter. Sebastian performed the song on the first season of Saturday Night Live, and memorably flubbed the opening lyrics.

With Betty White as the oldest host at age 88, who was the youngest? That honor went to Drew Barrymore, who hosted the show after E.T. became a hit. She was only seven years old at the time. The next youngest host was Macaulay Culkin, who hosted at age 11. Between White and Barrymore, SNL has had a host age range of about 81 years.

Who Was the First Person Banned From the Show?

Despite SNL's reputation for biting and sometimes crude humor, it is possible to annoy the producer, cast, and audience so much that you are outright banned from coming back. The first musical guest banned was Elvis Costello for his interrupted musical performance; he was pressured to perform a political song by his record company, but Costello thought the song, about a British figure, wouldn't make sense to an American audience. He stopped the song a few seconds in and told the audience he wouldn't play it, and instead played "Radio, Radio." The first host banned was either Charles Grodin in 1977 or Milton Berle in 1979, depending on your tolerance levels; Grodin merely was considered a bad host who missed rehearsals, but Berle tried to wrest so much control of the show from the actual writers and showrunners that he performed his own sketches and reportedly made performing difficult for other cast members. And the first person banned by the audience was comedian Andy Kaufman, who asked audience members to vote on whether he should be banned.

Who Was the First Host From the Political Arena?

The first season of SNL had hosts from all across the public spectrum, and parodying politics quickly became a hallmark of the show. Many people remember Gerald Ford's cameo, where he got to say the famous "Live From New York" line, but the first show to actually feature a political host was on April 17, 1976, when Ford's press secretary, Ron Nessen, was the host.

Watch a few SNL shows and chances are you'll see at least one host or cast member break character and laugh during the sketch, or obviously mess up a line, to the great delight of the audience. But the first flub didn't happen during a sketch. It happened in the first show and was from announcer Don Pardo. The cast was known as the "Not Ready for Prime Time Players," and Pardo mixed up the word order a bit ("Not for Ready Prime Time Players"). The flub was obviously forgiven as Pardo continued to announce the show until 2014, when he died at age 96.

GRILLED  CHEESE  SANDWICH

Answer: Kidney stones are pretty disgusting, but that didn’t stop someone from purchasing the kidney stone of famed actor William Shatner, who put his kidney stone up for sale on eBay in 2006 to raise money for the housing charity Habitat for Humanity. Shatner’s kidney stone ended up selling for a ridiculous $25,000 to GoldenPalace.com, which is the same wacky online casino that bought a Dorito shaped like the Pope’s hat and forked over $28,000 for a half-eaten grilled cheese sandwich that resembled the Virgin Mary.

Answer: The story of David and Goliah can be found in First Samuel 17 of the Bible. It tells the story of the giant Goliath, a nine-foot soldier from Gath, and his defeat at the hands of David, a young Israelite shepherd. In the famous battle, David hurls a stone from his sling and hits Goliath in the center of his forehead, Goliath falls on his face to the ground, and David cuts off his head. The story of David and Goliath is most often quoted as an analogy used to illustrate a perceived underdog overcoming a challenger or foe considered much stronger and more likely to win.
