Which invention was named after a medieval king?

Bluetooth

BLUETOOTH

Answer: The name "Bluetooth," which refers to the standard for shortrange wireless connections, is derived from Viking King Harald Gormsson, who is credited with uniting Scandinavia. Like many medieval rulers, he also had a nickname: blátonn in Old Norse. It means Bluetooth. Many scholars believe that King Harald became known as Bluetooth because he had a conspicuous dead tooth that literally looked blue. The now iconic Bluetooth logo is actually a combination of King Bluetooth's initials in Scandinavian. Intel mobile engineer Jim Kardac came up with the name in 1997 after reading a book about Vikings.

What was the manufacturer's suggested list price on the Ford Mustang when it was first introduced in 1964?

My guess $2368

Answer: The Ford Mustang was officially unveiled by Henry Ford II at the World’s Fair in Flushing Meadows, New York, on this day in 1964. That same day, the new car also debuted in Ford showrooms across America and almost 22,000 Mustangs were immediately snapped up by buyers. Named for a World War II fighter plane, the Mustang was the first of a type of vehicle that came to be known as a “pony car.” Ford sold more than 400,000 Mustangs within its first year of production. The first model carried a manufacturer's suggested list price of $2,368.

William Howard Taft

Answer: The majority of men who had held the position of President of the United States had been clean shaven and it’s been more than a century since the last president with facial hair served in office. Being clean-shaven wasn’t always the norm, though 12 of all the US Presidents sported some sort of facial hair while in office. The last president to wear facial hair was William Howard Taft who sported a mustache during his term in the White House from March 1909 to March 1913. No sitting president has worn facial hair since Taft.

That would be Family Feud

Answer: This famous line has been shouted by every host of the game show Family Feud over the last 43 years. Family Feud is a game show where two families compete to name the most popular responses to survey questions in order to win cash and prizes. After the teams pick an answer, the host shouts "Survey says!" to reveal how many people came back with the same answer to the question. Since 1976, Family Feud has had a half dozen hosts wondering what the survey says including Richard Dawson, Ray Combs, Louie Anderson, Richard Karn, John O'Hurley, and Steve Harvey.

SPUTNIK 1

Answer: Sputnik 1 was the first artificial Earth satellite. The Soviet Union launched it into an elliptical low Earth orbit in 1957, orbiting for three weeks before its batteries died, then silently for two more months before falling back into the atmosphere. It was a 23 inch diameter polished metal sphere, with four external radio antennas to broadcast radio pulses. Sputnik completed 1,440 orbits of the Earth, and travelled a distance of about 43 million miles. The surprise success of Sputnik 1 triggered the Space Race, a part of the Cold War.

CONNECTICUT

Answer: Connecticut was officially nicknamed "The Constitution State" by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1959. It is believed that ideas for writing of the Constitution of the United States were drawn from the first constitution of Connecticut. Connecticut is also unofficially known as "The Nutmeg State," whose origin is unknown. It may have come from its sailors returning from voyages with nutmeg. It is also said to come from peddlers from Connecticut who would sell small carved nobs of wood shaped to look like nutmeg to unsuspecting customers. A resident of Connecticut is known as a Connecticuter or a Nutmegger.

EARS

Answer: It happens every spring, researchers say: A disturbing epidemic of confectionary rabbit auricular amputations. Or, in layman’s terms, biting the ears off of your chocolate Easter bunny. As it turns out, a new study looks at our preferences for deforming the chocolatey critters. It notes that an online survey of more than 28,000 Americans reveal that 59 percent of us eat the ears first. About 4 percent start at the other end with the feet or tail, while 33 percent of people indicate no preference at all when going in for the all-important first bite.
