TRUTH OR CONSERQUENCES

Answer: Truth or Consequences was the first game show to air on broadcast television, airing as a one-time experiment on July 1, 1941. However, the series did not appear on TV again until 1950, when the medium had caught on commercially. The program originated as a prime time series, airing on CBS on September 7, 1950 hosted by Ralph Edwards. In 1956, NBC launched a new daytime version of the show, with radio personality Bob Barker at the helm. This run not only marked the start of a hugely successful TV career for Barker, but it also became the longest-running incarnation of the popular show.

KIWI

Answer: The national bird and animal in New Zealand is the kiwi. Kiwi are flightless birds that can only be found in New Zealand. The kiwi has become the national symbol of New Zealand, and the bird is prominently displayed on their coat of arms. The kiwi has been featured on the reverse side of the one-dollar coin in New Zealand since 1991. In currency trading, the New Zealand dollar is often referred to as "the kiwi". New Zealanders have been called 'Kiwis' since the nickname was bestowed by Australian soldiers in the First World War.

Leonardo da Vinci

Answer: When Bob Kane drew his first concept of Batman, it was very different from what we think of Batman today. In his original sketch, Batman wore red tights and a domino mask that didn't hide his blonde (yes, blonde) hair. Instead of a cape, Kane designed Batman with two wings on his back that always stayed up. Kane claimed the design was inspired by Leonardo Da Vinci's diagram of the ornithopter, a flying machine with huge bat-like wings. Leonardo Da Vinci's ornithopter designs were inspired by his study of birds, and conceived the use of the bat-like wings to generate thrust to provide a motion necessary for aerodynamic lift.

Answer: This sought-after fabric has become synonymous with luxury; the soft, insulating material is one of the most valuable natural products used in the fashion industry today. Cashmere is made from the soft fleecy under layer of a goat’s coat. There is a breed of Cashmere goats which the soft fibers often come from, but it can actually be taken from any herd as long as the hairs are fine enough to make the cut. The name Cashmere is derived from the location Kashmir, where the fiber was originally produced as far back as the 13th century.

Answer: On this day in 1995, former football star O.J. Simpson was acquitted of the brutal double murder of his estranged wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman. During closing arguments, Simpson’s defense lawyer Johnnie Cochran uttered the memorable phrase, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit," referencing the fact that the glove the prosecutors alleged Simpson wore during the murder did not fit Simpson's hand. The jury took just four hours of deliberation to reach the verdict of not guilty on both murder charges.
