Nintendo Microsoft Atari Apple Atari Answer: Pong was a table tennis-themed arcade video game, manufactured by Atari and released in 1972. It was one of the earliest arcade games and created by Allan Alcorn as a training exercise assigned to him by Atari co-founder Nolan Bushnell. Bushnell based the game's concept on an electronic ping-pong game included in the Magnavox Odyssey, the first home video game console. In response, Magnavox sued Atari for patent infringement. During the 1975 Christmas season, Atari released a home version of Pong exclusively through Sears retail stores which became a commercial success. Martin Scorsese Steven Spielberg George Lucas Francis Ford Coppola George Lucas Answer: The word "droid" may be an unusual name for a phone, but Verizon had to seek permission to use it. Thats because George Lucas invented the word for his 1977 film Star Wars. Lucas used the word droid to refer to C-3P0, R2D2, and other automatons in Star Wars. Nearly 31 years after the premier of Star Wars, George Lucas’ company, Lucasfilm, trademarked the word “droid.” A few months later, Verizon released its Droid line of phones. As a result, Verizon paid Lucasfilm (now Disney) a handsome chunk of change for the rights to use this word as a brand name. An actor A president A scientist An athlete A scientist Answer: Stuart Freeborn was the makeup supervisor for the original Star Wars trilogy. His most notable contribution was the design and fabrication of the character Yoda. Freeborn revealed that Yoda's facial design was modeled after another great, wise and brilliant man: none other than the celebrated astrophysicist Albert Einstein. Freeborn was heavily influenced by a picture of Einstein which was hung on a wall in the office where Yoda’s physical appearance was being creatively molded. Consequently, he felt inspired to fashion the Jedi master’s facial features, specifically his eyes and wrinkles, after Einstein. Chick-fil-A Panda Express Chipotle Little Caesars Chipotle Answer: In 1993, Steve Ells opened the first Chipotle Mexican Grill in Denver, Colorado, using an $85,000 loan from his father. In order for Ells to expand his promising fast casual concept, he needed money. That cash infusion came in the form of an investment from fast food king McDonald's. The investment from the Golden Arches allowed Chipotle to quickly expand, from 16 restaurants in 1998 to over 500 by 2005. By the time Chipotle went public in 2006, McDonald's owned more than 90% of the company. Later that year, McDonalds's sold their stake and parted ways with the burrito chain. The Catcher in the Rye War and Peace For Whom the Bell Tolls The Hunchback of Notre-Dame The Hunchback of Notre-Dame Answer: In late 1830, Victor Hugo had a problem. He promised his publisher a book by February, but he hadn't even started it yet. So he collected all of his clothes, removed them from his chambers, and locked them away. He was left with nothing to wear except a large shawl. Lacking any clothing to go outdoors, Hugo was no longer tempted to leave the house. The strategy worked. Hugo remained in his study each day and wrote furiously during the fall and winter of 1830. The Hunchback of Notre Dame was published two weeks early, on January 14, 1831.
