A couple questions on God's plan of salvation

It should be noted that 8th day is NOT an Adventist and frequently requests that NO EGW be used in topics she has started.

I have known 8thday for years; and can assure you that she is no longer SDA; nor does she consider EGW to be some sort of end-time prophet.  Neither do I.  Nonetheless, we find some of her writings useful.  We also find some (but not all) of the writings of other inspired writers useful.

I think it's time to put aside many denominations' petty side doctrines that fall into the "good to know" or "our personal opinion category.  A short (and strained) parable:

The Kingdom of heaven is like a person seeking to advance upward in a large corporation.  It's not what you know, it's Who you know.

I am guessing BS means Barely Sane. :)

Funny - I thought it meant Bovine Stool.

There is NO Bible doctrine that is "petty."

You are both right.

If it is Biblical, it's not petty.

If it is denominational, it very likely is.

With all due respect...

The above sentiment is pure EGW* and begs the question: "How stupid are these spirit beings?" Seriously, it's been 7-10 THOUSAND YEARS (that we know of, perhaps more) and they still don't understand?

Something is wrong here. I can barely think for all the BS alarms going off in my head.

No disrespect intended.

* which for me is a problem

You think the created spirit beings understood that God the Father would help His Son to incarnate into the womb of a human woman, and then live as a human being, and then allow Himself to be tortured to death by the humans He created, urged on by Satan and his crew.    They understood all of that - 7 to 10 thousand years ago (could be 50 thousand years for all we know) ?   I don't think so.

Or words to that effect...:D

If I recall correctly, 8th WAS an Adventist and left. I think I read that on her website. It is ABSOLUTLY possible that I am mistaken and confusing her with someone else. I'm sure she will correct me if such is the case.

I have nothing against EGW; quote her all you like. I may even quote her myself.  Just don't expect that I will take her with the same degree of authority someone else might. And if 8th was SDA, this (meaning her post) may be one of those little scraps of theology one has never challenged. I know I have bags and bags of them.

Yes.  I WAS SDA.  It took years and years and years before I could begin to read the Bible without hearing in my head, what Ellen said about every passage I was reading.  I came to realize that I had never really read my Bible - never read it just for itself.

Though I no longer believe that Ellen White was an inspired prophet interpreter of every passage of Scripture,  I do not reject everything she ever wrote.   Why would I ?  She wrote a lot of good things about Christ.

Whether or not created spirits understood that was never the discussion. It was always centered on the "sinfulness of sin" and other such ideas. So please don't use the old "bait and switch" tactics to shore up a shaky argument.

That being said, even the above assertion happened 2000 +/- years ago so, yes, they are a special kind of stupid.
