Yes you may! And thank you! Do you mean reading in P&P for those 2 bible book chapters? Quote (2 Cor 1:3-4) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. The term for the daily sacrifice is "morning and evening". I've read in more than one commentary that the author of Daniel suffered from dyslexia and meant to write "Morning and evening" but that by mistake switched them around and forgot to include the word "and" in between them. That is what is necessary for us to correct what he actually wrote so that it can be not what he wrote but what he meant to write for it to apply to the morning and evening sacrifice. The term "Evenings-mornings" is similar to the evening and morning of the creation week, indicating a connection to the daily cycle, but also in a focus on the cycles. The ancient near east had many cycles. A day in Egypt was either the 24 hour cycle of the sun or the annual flooding of the Nile (Yes, one of those day-year situations that Desmond Ford said does not exist.) Two fantastic books to study the cycles are "Before Philosophy" 1946 University of Chicago Press by Henri Frankfort and others. (Why our church does not reprint this book amazes me. So many of our arguments would end if our people would read this book.) Another is "The Myth of the Eternal Return" by Mircea Eliade. Kevin: I truly do not understand why everyone is making this so complicated? Why even bring up Egypt or Desmond Ford? Egypt went away from YAHWEH and the truth. Desmond Ford allow intellectual philosophy to cause him to falter. Sometimes we make something so simple into a mountain which is what Satan wants, confusion. The ancient Hebrew word is "‛ereb," which means dusk or evening; the second ancient Hebrew word is "bôqer," that means dawn or daylight time. This is found in Gen 1:5 and that should be the understanding simple. There is no term in the Bible that says daily sacrifice, in Daniel. The angel clearly told Daniel of the daily which is what the KJV scholars assumed he was talking about animal sacrifices. But the subject of main importance was about the Heavenly Sanctuary and what was cast down and trample. It even exalted itself as high as THE PRINCE of the host. And it took that which is Continual away from HIM and threw down the Foundation of HIS set-apart place. Dan 8:11 TS2009 Yea, he magnified himself even to THE PRINCE of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of HIS Sanctuary was cast down. Dan 8:11 WOY The ancient Hebrew word "tâmı̂yd," is actually continual and not daily. Only one thing in Heaven that has been trampled beside THE MESSIAH Testimony is YAHWEH'S Law which is continual and everlasting. Many on earth have trampled it and the angel Gabriel showed that Rome would adopt a fake system of worship that will cause this deception. That's the message plain and simple without all of these philosophies that SDA are now into just like the ancient Greeks! On 3/8/2020 at 12:54 AM, Kevin H said: We find the Hebrew cycles in Leviticus 23 and here and there in Deuteronomy. Leviticus 23 tells us what a Hebrew week is: It is 6 days and the Sabbath, Six months and either the Day of Atonement or Passover, Six years and the Sabbatical year, and six Sabbatical years and the Jubilee. From this we see that the daily cycles are literal days, literal months, literal years, or literal Sabbatical years. Since Deuteronomy downplays the Jubilee and Daniel was a Deuteronomist we can not focus on the Sabbatical years. Thus to Daniel 2300 evenings-mornings can mean 2300 days, 2300 months or 2300 years. Daniel knew that which one it would be was based on the spreading of the gospel to fit the condition. If the Hebrews could be faithful over the next few years, the prophecy of Deuteronomy 4 would have been fulfilled and the exile end with a second great exodus lead by the Messiah. When this did not happen Daniel 9 connects it to the 70 weeks of years. Ezekiel applies it to the last 2300 days of the 70 weeks of years and tells what could have happened had Jesus been accepted. With his rejection we move on to the possibility of 2300 months or 2300 years. The 2300 year application brings us to 1844, which was the end of a Sabbatical year and the start of a Jubilee, and the first Sabbatical year and Jubilee since Edward Robinson did the first serious study of the Holy Land that brought us to the dawning of the age of exegesis, the rediscovery of the ancient world, an age where we could start to investigate the pages of scripture like never before. If we were to do the math we can probably find a time when something could have happened at the 2300 month mark, but it was the 2300 year application that was the last time this prophecy could cycle around and where things did happen. In Ezekiel (who was a priest and would take the Sabbatical years as an option) we find a prophecy for 2310 days, and they are the last 2310 days of the end of the great controversy for the burring the wicked after they are destroyed. If we remove the 10 days between the New Year and Day of Atonement, we have another 2300 day prophecy. Ezekiel places it in what would have happened had Jesus been accepted and they would have been the last 2300 days of the 70 week prophecy. Ezekiel's prophecy is a sister prophecy and fits with 2300 days, not 2300 morning and evening sacrifices. There is nothing to support the 1150 days or 2300 morning and evening sacrifices. Those who want to apply the book of Daniel to Antiochus still does not have the prophecy fit but it is closer to 1150 days than 2300 days. But they need a dyslexic Daniel who meant to write "morning and evening" but by mistake wrote "evenings - mornings" But "evenings-mornings fits the emphases that Daniel is thinking about the cycles, it fits with in the exegetical context of Deuteronomy 4 where the world could have ended with the exile, and the third year of Belshazzar covered the year that was exactly 1150 days from business as usual and exactly 2300 days from the year that has Medio-Persia laying seize to Babylon, Belshazzar's feast and the early days of the Medio-Persia rule, and it fits with the 2310 day sister prophecy in Ezekiel. Where do you read in the Bible the word Sabbatical? I also would like to know what Hebrew cycles is mention in Lev Chapter 23, and where in Deuteronomy. You then make this unfounded statement: "Leviticus 23 tells us what a Hebrew week is: It is 6 days and the Sabbath, Six months and either the Day of Atonement or Passover, Six years and the Sabbatical year, and six Sabbatical years and the Jubilee." First of all Genesis Chapters 1 and 2 tells from the beginning of the 7 day week cycle, YAHWEH'S Calendar which is a lunar/solar calendar, and all the Appointed Times or Holy Days! Ex Chapter 12 if all just would take time to read explain the passover meal. IsraEL had to take a lamb base on family size, keep it from the 10th to the 14th day. Now we all know that the Roman Catholic calendar we splits up the correct evening and morning because they use a solar calendar. When the lamb was kept on the 14th day, YAHWEH told Moses IsraEL had to kill the lamb at evening. Evening begins the 15th day, so the passover meal was eaten before midnight (because the lamb had to be roasted whole). The blood of the lamb had to be place on the doorpost and the meal eaten in haste. When the angel came it would "passover," and their first born son also their first born of the animals would be save. This is so simple! YAHWEH stated that the meal would start the week of Unleavened Bread. But, IsraEL like today changed the truth and call a day the passover which is error. Let's get this out the way also, the word feast is pagan and in Lev Chapter 23 the ancient Hebrew word is "moed," which means Appointed Set Times! There is only one meal found in all of the Holy Days and was a simple meal. The word feast comes again from Rome and honored by the Roman Catholic Church and this word meant to over eat, party and to do unholy activities. Check out where the word come from it was not during the time of Moses! Here is proof about the passover meal: Now the feast (Holy Day)of Unleavened Bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, when the passover must be killed. And HE sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the passover, that we may eat. Luke 22:1, 7, 8 (Notice Col 2:16 uses the Greek word correctly) Let's be clear the Holy days included the weekly Sabbath and they did not belong to the Hebrews at all! And YAHWEH spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the Appointed Times of YAHWEH, which ye shall proclaim to be Holy Convocations, even these are MY Appointed Times. Lev 23:1-2 TS2006 & WOY I would like you or anyone to show anywhere in any version of the Bible does it Hebrew or Jew Appointed Times or even with the pagan word feast! The Sabbath was included in these Appointed Times and these are the Statues Laws. Because that Abraham obeyed MY VOICE, and kept MY Charge, MY commandments, MY Statutes, and MY Laws. Gen 26:5 (More than 10 but to the 10th power.) Now, those who want to make claim that EGW did not know about them, let show you what she really stated: Again, the people were reminded of the sacred obligation of the Sabbath. Yearly feasts were appointed, at which all the men people of the nation were to assemble before the Lord, bringing to HIM their offerings of gratitude and the first fruits of His bounties. The object of all these regulations was stated: they proceeded from no exercise of mere arbitrary sovereignty; all were given for the good of IsraEL. The Lord said, "Ye shall be Holy men unto ME"--worthy to be acknowledged by a holy God. These Laws were to be recorded by Moses, and carefully treasured as the foundation of the national Law, and, with the (10th POWER) precepts which they were given to illustrate, the condition of the fulfillment of God's promises to IsraEL. PP p. 311 HE did not even then trust HIS precepts to the memory of a people who were prone to forget HIS Requirements but wrote them upon tables of stone. He would remove from Israel all possibility of mingling heathen traditions with HIS HOLY Precepts, or of confounding HIS Requirements with human ordinances or customs. But HE did not stop with giving them the precepts of the Decalogue. The people had shown themselves so easily led astray that HE would leave no door of temptation unguarded. Moses was Commanded to write, as God should bid him, judgments and laws giving minute instruction as to what was required. These directions relating to the duty of the people to God, to one another, and to the stranger were only the principles of the Commandments amplified and given in a specific manner, that none need err. They were designed to guard the Sacredness of the Precepts engraved on the tables of stone. PP p. 364 Precepts Given to Guard Decalogue.—In consequence of continual transgression, the moral law was repeated in awful grandeur from Sinai. Christ gave to Moses religious Precepts which were to govern everyday life. These Statutes were explicitly given to guard the Commandments. They were not shadowy types to pass away with the death of Christ. They were to be binding upon men in every age as long as time should last. These commands were enforced by the power of the moral Law, and they clearly and definitely explained that Law (The Signs of the Times, April 15, 1875 [Reprinted in The Review and Herald, May 6, 1875]). There were only six annually Appointed Times: Unleavened Bread, Firstfruit (Wave Sheaf) The Seven Weeks (Pentecost), Blowing of the Trumpet, Day of Atonement, and the Ingathering or Harvest. The Appointed Times were 7 days but only two days out of each week were called Holy Convocation. Three Appointed Times were Holy Convocation only one day and that was the the 7th Sabbath, The Pentecost (alway on a Sunday), and the day of Atonement. These annual Holy Convocation or Assembly Days were to kept even today along with the weekly Sabbath. They were not nail to the cross. The Firstfruit was not a Holy Day (at another time I will give more details about these days). They also were governed by the moon only and New Year by YAHWEH did not start in January but between late March, but mainly April, it is call Abib (ancient Heb Aviv), in the Bible. Even the Romans knew that April was the opening or the beginning! Six years crops could grow on the land where each one lived. But, the seventh year is should "shâmaṭ," not rest but let alone, desist, or discontinue growing crops. The land still had to be nurture and allow it the nutrients to nourish it. Ex 23;10, 11 After 50 years a Jubilee was given concerning the land and that year, IsraEL was not to cultivate the land but only eat the crop that the land produce on its own. Also, family members property were to returned to them. It was a year of Holiness of rejoicing by giving, being kind, thankful and humble showing the Goodness of YAHWEH period!Lev 25:8-55 The Jubilee was specifically for Israel, but even today when I was a girl my parents would allow the land every seven to nurture. In other countries it was called slash and burn and they would grow somewhere else! This knowledge was pass down that came from YAHWEH! The new moon was well known in the Farmer's Almanac this was their calendar and the Holy Days pointed to salvation. The sacrifices and oblation that cease pointed to YAHSHUA and they were done every single day. However, on the Sabbath and the Holy Days more animals were killed. The sacrifices cease but not the Holy Days. These Statutes Laws was kept by Adam to Noah, the Canaanites (Melchizedek was the High Priest of Jerusalem) and Abraham, Isaac to Moses and also the apostles after YAHSHUA had risen! That what Paul clearly explain in Colossian Chapter 2. Finally, in Lev 23 besides the weekly Sabbaths certain Holy days were never called Sabbath except the Day of Atonement. It was called our sabbath and it was not like YAHWEH Sabbath or celebration, ours was day of serious confession, praying not to be blotted out. This day was a serious Holy day. The certain days were called "shabbâthôn," which means special Holy day, they never call the Sabbath! Now, humbly I would like anyone to show that the above information given is not Biblical or true! I will say your are truthful, I hope you will give me the same consideration! Blessings! Quote
