Your turn, Rob <hr /></blockquote><font class="post"> The burden of bearing another's sinfulness is often sharing in the penalty suffered by the lawbreaker without complaining. As a for instance: a wife living with a man who smokes (she following the physical laws most conducive for health), develops cancer of the lungs from secondary smoke, yet chooses to continue living with the man out of love for him, despite the possible death sentence imposed by another. As a side, here is a particular counsel for those who are tempted to dismiss lawkeeping as a burden, in order to justify living without law____. Gal 5:13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. The context of chapter 5 reveals that believers have been set free from under the juridiction of the law. Why? Falling short is sinning and the law doesn't forgive sin. Hence we had to be set free from "under law"! "However do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love." Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted June 25, 2006 Moderators Posted June 25, 2006 So what does it mean when Paul says not to use our freedom to indulge the flesh but to serve one another in love? If you say I shouldn't break them, then I should be obeying them? Gerry Quote
Robert Posted June 25, 2006 Author Posted June 25, 2006 Titus 3:9 But avoid stupid controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels over the law, for they are unprofitable and futile. 10 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. 11 You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned. Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted June 25, 2006 Moderators Posted June 25, 2006 Nice way to weasel out. But think how it looks when you say I shouldn't break the law but I shouldn't obey it either. Gerry Quote
