If it is wrong for a SDA to perform some sort of work on the Sabbath, it is also wrong for anyone else to perform that work. Just because someone is a Baptist, who keeps Sunday, does not make what that persons does on the Sabbath right. Thel position of the SDA Chruch, Jesus Christ and the Bible, is that on the Sabbath, there is necessary work that must be done on the Sabbath. In many ways, the SDA Chruch leaves it up to the person and God as to exactly what work should be done on the Sabbath. I know that from watching my family and knowing some details I would not want a SDA caring for my family member deciding that they could not work sabbath As a private duty nurse my mother developed a special relationship with her patients. I am very grateful she was the type of christian that would stay by their side regardless of the day of the week. phkrause 1 Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It isn't standing on your principals that is the problem. It is the not so subtle walking on the principals of others at the same time. For many of us what you see biblically as forbidding christmas trees and christmas is quite a stretch as is worshipping of idols . Most SDA's well understand that Dec 25th is not the birthday of Jesus. You know I never walked on anyone's principals. You have done that yourself. My goal was very clear. It was about the concept and the practice of paganism in our church today. It about making it justifiable to follow the world! Many in the world do not know what we know or should know. The same problem was in YAHSHUA'S day. We want it two ways and there is only one way. Many see what they want to see. The Bible says that YAHWEH will send Strong Delusions that many will believe a lie! 2Th 2:11 Each person have to work out their own soul salvation. Again, I cannot make it for you. If you know that it is not HIS birthday, and the world of churches says it is; why would celebrated a lie? That's like a person being in a car, while his friend rob the bank. He is just as guilty according to the law as the robbers. 6 hours ago, bonnie said: I have no idea what your mother's role was at the VA, but if it involved the care, well being and safety of the patients someone would have had to take her place. Did she refuse to work sabbath because of pay or simply because it was considered work? There are those that need the care of others 24/7. Whatever your mother's role it was a decision that was hers to make. If this was a biblical requirement any SDA institution that cared for the sick, vulnerable and needy people would simply have to lock down from sunset fri to sunset sabbath. It would be one thing if it were a secular institution but something like Loma Linda simply could not make allowances for SDA's and demand others work in their place. You certainly don't know what her role was because I did not comment on that at all. I know that many people volunteer without pay to keep our hospital and other places going on the Sabbath. Because we have these pagan names, they do not keep us in following and accepting the truth! Not sure how you refer to the other days of the week I just really don't care. It amazes me that despite centuries of religion dominating almost every aspect of life in Britain or at the very least exerting a great deal of influence on the public and private sphere, the English language has managed to retain its non-Christian names of the week (with Tuesday through Friday directly referencing the Norse gods and goddess Tyr, Odin, Thor and Frigg, Saturday - Saturn and Sunday and Monday the sun and moon respectively, with the moon personified as a deity). ENGLISH LANGUAGE & USAGE Maybe because a very, very few associate the names of the day of the week with paganism What amazes me is why did anyone accept to believe in the Sabbath, which is the name I use! I have been a Bible Worker and believed the truth of the Bible. Did I learn more exactly like EGW said would happen yes! If you want to keep pagan customs that's your choice! Were it not for Christmas holidays, the poor and others would largely be forgotten during those months. Some times you just have to take back the day as all days are God's anyway. As one preacher told a couple whose son fell into Satan worship, "Take him back!" It may have been a pagan holiday, but not anymore! bonnie Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 You certainly don't know what her role was because I did not comment on that at all. No I don't know and really don't care. It is pretty simple to me. Work related to the safety, health, well being of others is essential sabbath work. When SDA's refuse to comply with the responsibilities of their employment if known about at time of accepting, they are placing the burden on another. If beliefs have changed after employment, you can and should request to be accommodated if possible. What I mentioned was the type of church she use to attend for a reason. It is apparent you did not understand about the Missionary Baptist. I even share with all some of their beliefs. I guess you and other did not understand that. My mother came from a very Bible believing and a strong stand on faith as a Baptist. Many that have become SDA's come from a very Bible believing faith. My mother was being raised very strict Lutheran by her adoptive family. When she studied for her confirmation that very young girl refused to be confirmed until someone explained to her when God changed the day of worship. .When she discovered them she believe they were to be kept by all people. So, that's where I was coming from and not what type of work or job she was doing. If her job was essential to the well being of others, and she felt all should follow the 7th day she was placing a burden on others. If it was a non essential position of course that is what SDA's should doi It is so important to read what a person is saying. I choose to testify of her faith in truth over a lie. It is so very important and makes it far easier on the person trying to respond. Even her parents hurt her and you just did not get it. If you want to celebrate Christmas, I cannot stop you neither do I want to. What I am obligated to do is to point you to the facts. If you don't want to believe the Bible, you surely will not believe anything else. This is where stinsonmarri walks on the principals of others. Unless others have the same beliefs as you they don't believe the bible. What gets me I never said anything about what a person do or don't do on the Sabbath. Nor did I say anything about Sunday. I did mention a Baptist preacher and made it clear that he was trying to start a revolt. I did not go in details! He went against the job. The job let them all know they could have their walking papers. Again, it was about her faith in the truth and YAHWEH provided! Yes, you actually did. Stinsonmarri said..... My mother stood up and kept the Sabbath and took a stand for the sabbath and won.She was the only one in the hospital. Would you believe other adventists that work there did not stand like my mother? Not knowing the job requirements of the other SDA's ,Maybe they didn't because they considered what they did was essential All I said and made it clear that she comes from a special type of Baptist! I only showed that she wanted to keep the Sabbath and to find the church who did and she did! I agree, it is so important to read what another says. I did read the above and your mother wanted to keep the sabbath and found a church that did These are just a few of the Scriptures that I will show that the Bible stand against paganism. All are from WOY Version that the Version, I always use. I am pretty sure most here have read and understand the "few" scriptures against paganism. Your problem is those the disagree with the gospel according to stinsonmarri I Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. You want to find something to tear down my testimony about my mother and that's sad. I gave what the Bible said because paganism started after sin. People who knew the truth accepted paganism instead. YAHWEH dealt with it with all people who knew HIM, HIS SON and THE HOLY SPIRIT. They wanted to do what the heathens do then and it does not change today. I have said what the Bible said live with it and do what you do. Just tell it to THE FATHER and then see how HE FEELS! I am not the one. I presented what is in the Scriptures. That's all. You don't agree that fine again that is your right. I have my right you have your rights. I feel comfortable, happy and at peace on what I presented. If you like celebrating Christmas, the tree and gift then its done. Go and be happy! Quote

What can a concerned consumer do? Head to Florida. Last week, the Florida Ports Council put out a press release telling shippers that the state’s ports are open, staffed, and ready for business. “Florida is where your success comes in, and our seaports are the solution to ensure the cargo shipping logjam doesn’t become the grinch that stole Christmas,” said Florida Ports Council President and CEO Michael Rubin. He added, “With inflation growing, shipping and manufacturing industries can save time and money by calling on Florida ports. Why pay to moor off the coast of California, when Florida shipping lanes are open and serving as the gateway for getting goods to America’s market?” More than 60 ships holding thousands of shipping containers were moored off the California coast when the council sent the letter.
