Has there ever been thought in Adventism of a recording Angel writing down all of our actions so the "Lord can make a fair reckonin' on judgement?"

Would this have been Adventist thought in the 1930's or 40's?

Am not talking Seminary talk, but Adventist on the street talk??

Stan,

I am not sure where it came from but mother always told us that we should be careful about all that we do and say because the angels will record it and we will one day have to gie an account.

I think that goes hand-in-hand with a statement made by Ellen White (please don't ask me where it is located in her writtings) which says something to the effect that we will have to account for every idle word.

Hey I was told this in the Episcopalian church. I was certain my name had been writen and errased so much that there was a huge hole in the paper.

Both those thoughts are expressed in the Bible. For example, in Eccl. ch 12 for the first one, and in the gospels for the second statement, which Jesus made.

When a person accepts Christ, his or her name is written in the Book of Life. (Although, the Bible speaks of the names as being written in it "from the foundation of the world." At any rate, the name stays in the Book, it is not erased and re-entered, until the Judgment in heaven (investigative judgment) when a final decision is made for each name.

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony.

Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?

Ya! Iknow what you mean. I was just talking to my heavenly angel the last few days, telling him or her that I'll be so embarrased when I finally meet him or her, because of all the stupid things that he or she has seen me doing. What a bummer!

I was reading a movie script about adventist, and the quote i gave was "one of three angels that are a assigned to us at birth", other than a guardian angel, i have not been aware of the other two being that activity talked about by our members..

The scene is set in the 1930-40's

It is my understanding that at JUDGEMENT DAY at the End of the Thousand years- everybody inside the City and outside will have every thought, look or word repeated to everyone.

What does that LOOK like?

Every sin u have done Will be seen by everyone.

Everyone will be exposed as who they really are(or were).

my child will see everything. every word and every thought evil or worse. as well as the good words and deeds and motive and look.

Every glare!

Every weak polite smile.

Every haughty thought or look.

that means EVERY thought that doesnt esteem them better than you and whatnot! it is discounting them!

anyhoo I digress.

Every THING will be gone over by your parents. Friends. and children. Family. The Church. The community. The World. The Worlds. The Angels The Universe. The uberUNIVERSE! and The TRIUNEAwsomein unaproachable LIGHT,of course.

You will be splied and opened up.

It will be recorded in Live 3 or 4 Dimsionable sound and in better than FUGI colour.

And we all be on display.

All progress in the Spiritual Life is knowing and Loving GOD

That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.

This reminds me of that joke that made the rounds elsewhere on the internet: "Every time you masturbate, God kills a kitten! So please ... think of the KITTENS!!!"

I mean really. So what do our "recording angels" do when we have to go into the toilet for a long duty? Do they come in with us so they can have a peek at our thoughts?

If the universe is that voyeuristic, we've got bigger problems than Lucifer being disgruntled and wanting to be top dog.

lol

what a thought!

The world is a stage and they arent voyeristic!

they are sinless

so instead of voyer

they are.. uhhh...

students of how bad sin really is.

Of course when I go to the loo I put on a puppet show so it would be a distraction of whats really going on.

I dont think so.

I always read your posts BTW. U make a fair amount of sense.

I remeber when I was 6 or 7 my great Aunt Marie died.

She was the only woman that was nice to me in the family.

It was upsetting.

My mother ,who didnt talk of God -who was raised in an evil twisted Catholic cult of some sort, told me that Aunt Marie was in heaven on a cloud looking down on us. That thought made my skin crawl.

Looking down on me?

I knew she didnt love me anymore when she saw all the bad things I did.

It really wrecked my childhood. I was so sensitive and took everything literelly.

I was so glad to find out the State Of The Dead! thats good news!

I'm still trying to get to know your moods, G4J. sometimes you're a real surprise! but in a good way. I'd still like to know what you were really thinking/feeling in that other thread, where apparently everyone else thought I misinterpreted your statements. I thought I got them spot on.

Hi Nicodema.

I must confess- I dont read all your posts! I dont open every thread.

And my eyes tend to glaze over as I read long posts.

So which thread? what did I say and what did u say?

but I atempt(sp?) to read them! sorry.

and your answer to the third angel theory Is priceless. I loved it! that was so funny and somehow rings vague mindset and how God is viewed in many church camps.

When I was living in the city I went to a Southbay SDA church.

Me and my sis are very close and she visited my church(thats when I had a church I could bring people to).

Before the sermon started there was a child dedication ceremony. My sister was distracted by the paperwork they give at the foyer and looked up and saw the minister with a baby.

She whispered "whats going on?"

I whispered back" they're having a dedication."

She then looked at me confused(my family is unchurched) and asked "to who?"

I couldnt resist! I said it

"the DEVIL!!!"

we stifled our Laughter with tears in our eyes and couldnt look at each other after that.

We knew we would bust up again.

It was a somber occasion.

No harm done. My eyes glaze over sometimes on long posts as well. Including my own. <img src="/adventist/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

It was one of the "things we don't talk about" threads and you were talking about all the nonsense you swallowed when you were a wide-eyed innocent kid in church. I had a negative reaction to that (not to YOU but to my mental image of what you must have endured and what it must have done to you) and said as much -- and a couple people there didn't get it and tried to make me into the villian (again).

[:"purple"]

Those are among the things that will be expunged from the books of record, when one has his/her sins washed away with the blood of Jesus.
