cricket Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 The Riddle, Five for Fighting There was a man back in '95 Whose heart ran out of summers But before he died, I asked him Wait, what's the sense in life Come over me, Come over me He said, "Son why you got to sing that tune Catch a Dylan song or some eclipse of the moon Let an angel swing and make you swoon Then you will see... You will see." Then he said, "Here's a riddle for you Find the Answer There's a reason for the world You and I..." Picked up my kid from school today Did you learn anything cause in the world today You can't live in a castle far away Now talk to me, come talk to me He said, "Dad I'm big but we're smaller than small In the scheme of things, well we're nothing at all Still every mother's child sings a lonely song So play with me, come play with me" And Hey Dad Here's a riddle for you Find the Answer There's a reason for the world You and I... I said, "Son for all I've told you When you get right down to the Reason for the world... Who am I?" There are secrets that we still have left to find There have been mysteries from the beginning of time There are answers we're not wise enough to see He said... You looking for a clue I Love You free... The batter swings and the summer flies As I look into my angel's eyes A song plays on while the moon is hiding over me Something comes over me I guess we're big and I guess we're small If you think about it man you know we got it all Cause we're all we got on this bouncing ball And I love you free I love you freely Here's a riddle for you Find the Answer There's a reason for the world You and I... Moderators Bravus Posted September 20, 2006 Moderators Posted September 20, 2006 I have my 'Disclaimer' linked in my signature here (check it out if you're remotely interested). Here's another one I wrote for a bike forum: My name is David, and I am (apparently) a Safety Nazi. I've tried to get clean and sober, but failed, so I still, sadly, have opinions about matters of personal safety when riding. That's all they are, though: opinions. I'm not the cops, I'm not the army, I'm not a politician, I have no power (except what my wife lets me have) - so my opinions won't be enforced on you. You're a grown-up. You have the right to make your own decisions, and the responsibility to bear the consequences of your decisions. I can't decide for you, and wouldn't want to if I could. I reserve the right, though, to have my own opinion and to state my opinion: including in the case where my opinion is that your decision is ridiculous and dangerous and likely to get you or others killed. Do what you want to do, be what you want to be, yeah... and for pity's sake, STOP WHINING! Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted September 20, 2006 Moderators Posted September 20, 2006 And my kids spend a lot of time on http://www.i-am-bored.com I'm seldom that bored (I tell the kids "only boring people are bored" - no offense to anyone here!), but the number of posts I just made in this thread suggests that today, I just might be Quote Truth is important

Nicodema Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 sister of night, when the hunger descends and your body's afire, an inferno that never ends, an eternal flame that burns in desire's name -- sister of night, when the longing returns giving voice to the flame, calling you through flesh that burns, breaking down your will to move in for the kill -- oh sister, come for me, embrace me, assure me. hey, sister. i feel it, too. sweet sister, just feel me, i'm trembling, you heal me. hey, sister. i feel it, too. -- depeche mode Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Moderators Bravus Posted September 20, 2006 Moderators Posted September 20, 2006 Strange beautiful music. Agalloch is one of my favourite bands, but this definitely won't be to everyone's taste: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHcOZhFkEU4 Lyrics: Aurora swims in the ether emerald fire scars the night sky Amber streams from Sol are not unlike the waves of the sea Nor the endless horizon of ice Aurora swims in the ether emerald fire paints the twilight Heidrun bleeds the golden nectar for the raising sun and the moon (Heidrun is a goat in Norse mythology who makes mead) Agalloch are named after a kind of oak tree, and their lyrics celebrate the beauty of nature Quote Truth is important
Nicodema Posted September 20, 2006 Author Posted September 20, 2006 That was absofreakinglutely AWESOME!!!!! ZOMG!!!!!!!!! I have to get me some CDs of their stuff!!! Bravus you amaze and delight me. Are the lyrics above the complete song? I was wondering what they were saying toward the end when the guy started singing in a kind of "gravelly" pitch and then of course at the end where he has his arms up and he's wailing for all he's worth. Dang that was awesome. I gotta pass it on to my son and ex now too, they will love it. My ex especially will get a kick out of the mention of Heidrun. Moderators Bravus Posted September 20, 2006 Moderators Posted September 20, 2006 I think that's all of the lyrics for that one. They use a variety of vocals, including that kind of black metal thing, but have a lot of instrumental stuff... and yeah, I love the beauty and variety of what they do. The album 'The Mantle' is probably the best place to start in checking them out. Quote Truth is important
Moderators LynnDel Posted September 20, 2006 Moderators Posted September 20, 2006 I'm not smitten with mindless boredom. I'm never smitten with mindless boredom except when sitting in training sessions and having powerpoint slides read verbatim to me. However, I am often afflicted with avoidance issues and am currently avoiding redoing my homework assignment. My computer fan is humming too loudly. I think it damages my hearing. My sonic mice deterrents are clicking away in various rooms. I found a dead mouse on my kitchen floor two days ago. No sign of cause. Lest you think I harbor mice, no, that is not my intent. They tend to move in when the ground is tilled after the harvest and their homey little holes have undergone catastrophic destruction. I spent three hours on my homework yesterday (web design class), went to upload my project. It did not exist. Not even in the "Recycle Bin" which, in my XP, is the worst recycle bin in my experience. Nothing is ever retrievable from it. If I think about it, I might be having a headache, but I won't think about it. I don't think, therefore it ain't. Quote LD
