In the last 6 months, we have been unindated with news of people going into public places and shooting the bystanders. We have been encouraged to report sespecious [sp] behavior and we have been shown the consequences for not paying attention to that behavior. Let's not condemn people for being alert to the problems in other people....Let us now figure out a response to those problems when we see them and make sure that our behavior and our reporting of 'their' behavior is a win win win situatiion . Let's us figure out a response that both wins the sinner, comforts the weary, and reasures the wary...Because if we don't, we will at the very least, offend some stranger, ruin our PR with the public, or be looked at as guilible or stupid.

Certainly there are ways of dealing with a situation such as this and reducing the publicity and embarrassment.

I think Archie Bunker would have solved the problem by putting a couple of snipers in the choir to take care of anyone getting out of hand.

rollingsmile Shane,

I like the spin you put on things. Elders with butcher knives, plastic knifes and Archie Bunker.

Publicity?? Publicity shouldn't even be a consideration! Do what is right. Love the brother within thy gate; welcome home the lost sheep, the prodigal!

Casting him out, shunning him, driving him away with judgments (pre-judgments even!!) will only breed disharmony and disunion. Reaction borne of fear will spawn the tragedy you hope to prevent.

Do not feed the fire with the fuel of fear.

I once walked into a convience store and saw a couple of guys with blood all over their clothing and they were wearing spurs on their tennis-shoes. I assumed they were ranchers.

Well, at least they didn't go to church like that. Or, I hope they didn't.

Give me a break ... it was not said for any reason except for a little humor in response to Shane's post!

Um...your post was in reference to Neil's.

What an astute observer are you. You appear to have another new name , so I say welcome and nice to met you. At least you remain the silent maven and retain most of her talents. OTOH, whatever or whoever you may be it is always a good thing to have a person around with your abilities of observation. So, again, I say welcome. -:)

I was so embarrassed to realize that I erroneously attributed Neil's post to Shane's. However, would I have lived with myself had you not been available to discover the error. Oh my, it could have been days perhaps even weeks, before I realized I had made such a horrific error? However could I have faced myself, Shane, Neil and the rest of the C/A group? duno

Publically, I wish to apologize to Neil and Shane. Neil and Shane please accept my humble apologies for saying Shane made a suggestion that was actually Neil’s. Guys, I will try to do better in the future! Please accept my apologies.

Sorry, cant recall your new name, but I do Thank you so very much for drawing my attention to such a serious error in posting/memory. As in the past, I really do thank you and appreciate your diligent proof reading of my post. It relieves me of so much pressure to post knowing that if I say something that can be interpreted different than intended you will discover it and make me aware, and I can, in turn, correct any and all statements hopefully to your satisfaction. BTY, I do feel badly about how often you are seriously scared, worried or frightened.

Have a wonderful day flower

The only reason I called attention to it is because I honestly thought you were being sincere in what I perceived as your concern for the publicity of the church. Concern for the church should not overshadow the concern for the brethern. Likewise, I assumed Neil's post showing what I perceived as his concern for the publicity of the church as being genuine.

The revelation of your intent--via your explanation--will help in my proceedings. The once assumed foundation of sincerity in your posts and opinions has crumbled.

Your calling attention to it was much appreciated. And, I am certain that your concern for the brethern was/is sincerely appreciated by all.

"Your proceedings" saywa

Is this a courtroom? dunoscared

Due to the fact that, for several years, you have had issues with anything that I post; I have a suggestion, why don't you simply ignore me. Surely you have noticed that I never respond to any of your post unless they are in reply to your responses in which you are replying to my post. Hey, just think about it, ok. If you do the same ....... life could be good.

Loc: Rio Grande Valley, Texas I agree that calling the police was an over-reaction. A few of the elders should have just went to the kitchen, got a few butcher knives and then sat down on either side of him to assure everyone he wouldn't present a problem.

You know the church could just hand out bottles of mace to all its members too. Imagine the guy with 100 people spraying mace on him. I doubt he would come back after that.
