Dr. Shane Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Someday speed limit signs will have cameras and radar on them to just take a picture of speeders so tickets can be sent in the mail. It is a shame that human resources have to be used in this technological age to stop speeders and those running red lights. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Key Guy Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 It is a shame that human resources have to be used in this technological age to stop speeders and those running red lights. Do you really think that works, I mean stops folks from running red lights? I am wondering how effective the cameras at the intersections are in life. Seems that more people are running lights more than ever these days. We have red lights here in KW, but it means nothing. Cyclists must obey all traffic laws, but they completely disregard the laws and get away with it. No enforcement. Quote

It is a shame that human resources have to be used in this technological age to stop speeders and those running red lights. Cameras and radar have been used for several years now ...as keyguy said, doesn't appear to be enough to slow 'em down or replace anyone Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Dr. Shane Posted October 28, 2006 Posted October 28, 2006 As stoplight cameras spread, drivers see red Quote: In Oxnard, Calif., red-light running dropped 42 percent citywide after a program began there. In Washington, D.C., the police reported a decrease of 24,000 red-light-running violations monthly in the two years after 39 cameras were installed in 1999. "The whole basis of our program is to change the behavior of the red-light-running driver," says Sergeant Richard Carlson, program manager for the Sacramento County red-light camera program. Last year the Sheriff's department videotaped one approach to what had been designated one of the 10 most dangerous intersections in the country. The camera caught 62 violations in a 24-hour period. Since red-light cameras were installed at the intersection last spring, the average number of violations has dropped to 13. The cameras have advantages and disadvantages. When cameras are installed on stop lights the yellow-light time needs to be extended - not shortened. It would even be better if the yellow light would flash for 3 seconds, then be on steady for 2 seconds before turning red. This would help in reducing rear-end collitions often caused by stoplight cameras. Cameras on speed limit signs should only be on a sign that is within a block of another sign so that drivers see the sign without the camera before coming to the sign with the camera. Money earned from these cameras is often used to pay for more police. So it provides a powerful punch to public safety. Not only do police spend less time worrying about speeders and red-light runners, there are more of them to protect the citizens from criminals. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Norman Byers, N.D. Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 I'm starting to think that the judge dismissed more tickets that morning. Mine was the 1st case of the day so others could have used my argument. After all how could the judge let me go and then find others guilty? I'm sure that in the near future when I'm shopping in that town, someone will come up to me and say, "Thanks for..." Norman Quote The unconditional pardon of sin never has been, and never will be. Administrators Naomi Posted October 31, 2006 Administrators Posted October 31, 2006 Hope it's your vision. The flip side is that the Judge will come up to you and say, "You're the guy!" Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Guest Posted November 2, 2006 Posted November 2, 2006 Shalom. I think if he was a practicing Orthodox Jew and he was driving on the Sabbath, he was DEFINATELY breaking the law. :-) UNLESS, he put a piece food the size of olive on the ground... THEN he'd be allowed to go another sabbath's day journey. :-) And IF he slept in his car, he'd be breaking the sabbath law forbiddeing one from moving hiss bed on the sabbath. i COULD go on, but I think i made my case. Norman Byers, N.D. Posted November 2, 2006 Author Posted November 2, 2006 Hi Naomi, Actually the judge was smiling at me when he dismissed my ticket. While there I also told him I was a legal permanent resident and did not want this to affect mt status. After he dimissed my ticket he said while smiling "This way it won't affect you immigration status" I smiled back and said, "Thank you" He's my buddy now, Quote The unconditional pardon of sin never has been, and never will be.
