I wonder how someone would come to the conclusion that we had to word our prayers according to the Devil's belief! I trust we aren't praying to him or for him!

The belief that I have heard expressed, is that a person should pray in the name of 'True Jesus' because the demons recognize that, but they do not recognize prayers in the name of Jesus. I may have the information on that which someone else supplied, still in my PM's, although some of it was communicated to me on Yahoo IM. Would need to check if the transcripts go that far back. But that is exactly what was stated! And that is why I started this thread, to give the idea a hearing.

But once again, I agree with Lester. I do not think we need to pray according to the devil's prescription. I do not think we need to pray in the name of 'true Jesus.' Nor do I think it is appropriate to do so. I think that anyone who does so would be giving satan power over him or her, which otherwise he would not have, and opening oneself up to serious problems.

Satan is a defeated foe. He is also a liar. He doesn't deserve the time of day.

Take a look at John317's post, # 103517 I believe, on the "Saved by EGW?" thread. While we should do what we can to help people who have troubled backgrounds, sometimes they end up doing a great deal of harm, and situations need to be dealt with judiciously, but with consideration for the interests of all involved. I believe that such was the case with the person you are referring to.

I had never heard this idea about "true Jesus" praying, until I saw this post.

My idea of prayer is like this:

If a person is actually doing this; how can what they say undo that? What we call Jesus is not what will "bring us to Him;" nor what will "enable us to receive Him." For then it becomes an incantation of sorts.

Praying "in the name of Jesus" may not even be referring to whatever name you use, textually; but rather, I believe the Bible supports the idea that we pray in His character, with the same frame of mind, as would Jesus: "not my will, but thine."

We live in fear of God, but not scared of Him, so we shouldn't feel that we should have to not spell out His name properly.

I respect your opinion/beliefs, but I do not agree with the fact you do not spell his name out.
