Benny Hinn wants to punch Joel Osteen in the face...
Tom Wetmore reacted to Kevin H for a topic
Jesus is the only way. However what does that mean? I believe that there are too many Christians who have ended up filtering that idea into the idea that Christianity is the only way and salvation is saying the magical words about Jesus. But Jesus is bigger than Christianity. The Trinity are the 3 manifestations of attributes of the one infinite God who is too big for us to comprehend. One reaching out to us to teach us the power and majesty of God. The other the love and friendship of God, and the third how God works with our subjective. If we have a friendship with God, we have accepted Jesus. Everyone in heaven will be there because of what Jesus did. The Holy Spirit points all to Jesus and we are either yielding to the Holy Spirit's prompting or rejecting it. We are constantly making choices either to think we are for ourselves by making less of the outside world (our sinful nature) or we are making choices to love the world as Jesus had loved it. In the end Judgment is not standing before the judgment seat of God with our knees knocking and finally either being told that we can go into heaven and we wipe the sweat from our brow, breath a sigh of relief and joyfully run into heaven before God changes his mind and calls us back. Or be told that we are going to hell and be pulled off kicking and screaming. Heaven and Hell is seeing God the Father and Jesus in full glory, in full beauty, in full majesty, full awesomeness. Those who have been Jesus' friend while having a dreadful moment as we are impacted with the awesomeness of seeing Jesus, when we hear the words "My Grace is Sufficient for you!" will have our hearts sing in joy as we realize that here is our best friend and it becomes heaven to be with him. Hell is the exact same experience except that the person has been rejecting the pleadings of the Holy Spirit and did not form a friendship with Jesus. The trend of their life was to yield to the sinful nature. They are attracted to Jesus and want to come. But they are afraid that God is going to get them for their sins. Despite the fact that Jesus said to them, yes to them "My grace is sufficient for you." they do not know Jesus and thus they do not trust in him. As they see their acts, not from the position of their excuses, but how God sees them, the are horrified of the person they became. They are overwhelmingly attracted to the beauty of Jesus, the desire of all nations, the desire of Ages, the one beloved by women, the one sweeter than honey and more desirable than gold, but they have destroyed their will power and are slaves to their feelings and they are afraid to come to the light for fear their deeds may be exposed. They feel that God is going to get them for their sins. They see loved ones with Jesus who they long to be with and throw their arms around, but they also see others who they have hurt or held a grudge towards and want to avoid, and even with their loved ones they see how they kept manipulating their loved ones to do what they wanted their loved ones to do. They are horrified at this and know that the one sitting on the throne knows the deepest and darkest corners of their lives and they fear to come to the light, they pull back. Yet Jesus is still all together beautiful and their deepest desire who they long to be with. They are finding that their life is so out of harmony with the purity of heaven that they find it torcher to be there and see the scene. They want to come and bow before Jesus, but they won't. The Holy Spirit does everything except force the will and the lost are overwhelmed at this pressure and the attractive beauty of Jesus. If only they would yield and come to Jesus they would find that his grace is sufficient for them and he could heal them. But they refuse to. They become prisoners of their own mind. Hell is locked from the inside. They form their own morbid heaven which they choose focusing on their excuses and criticisms of those allowed in and wallowing in their complaints, enjoying the joy that comes from excuses and blaming over the joys of heaven and fellowship with Jesus and our loved ones and respecting them on an honest basis. Both Benny Hinn and Joel Osteen are seeing important Biblical truth. Their false ideas about hell and thus not realizing how beautiful Jesus is, them both having a narrow Jesus limiting him to only the Church and Christianity causes them to not see how the truth fits together. And thus you have part of the truth fighting against another part of the truth.1 point -
Ex-NSA Official: ISIS Uses Snowden Leaks to Avoid US Detection
Stan reacted to phkrause for a topic
The Islamic State (ISIS) is able to evade U.S. intelligence and is harder to catch because the terrorist group has "clearly" capitalized on the huge leaks by former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden, a former top NSA official said Thursday. Myth of Arctic Meltdown: Stunning Satellite Images Show Summer Ice Cap
JoeMo reacted to Gregory Matthews for a topic
Yes, Bonnie's article is interesting. However, in truth, global warming predicts that the polar regions may at times grow larger in size as a result of global warming. Global warming includes three potential aspects: 1) Warmer air typically carries more water (In the tropics it is typically more humid than in other areas.) than colder air. 2) Warmer air typically increases evaporation from the ocean. 3) Shrinkage of sea ice leads to an increased exposure of ocean water. This leads to more evaporation and increased snowfall. Therefore, global warming can lead to both increased warming and increased snowfall. Depending on the geographic area and which dominates, global warming can, in the early stages, produce both increased growth in the ice sheets and a decay in those ice sheets. It is of interest to note that while land ice shrinkage does affect sea level, shrinkage of sea ice does not affect sea level. This is due to the fact that sea ice is in equilibrium with the ocean on which it floats. NOTE: The information above has come from a NASA release. I seemingly do not know how to quote material and post it in this new forum. So, I have stated the above in my own words.1 point -
Could You Pray for 100 Days?
JoeMo reacted to phkrause for a topic
The Apostle Paul tells us to “pray without ceasing.” Is that humanly possible? Yes. And you don’t have to be a monk hidden away in the catacombs, sitting in a loincloth atop some holy mountain or locked up in a medieval abbey. As I go through members' profiles, I am seeing that many of you need to upload new avatars. But you will find that manoeuvring photos is much easier now. And you can use a regular photo as an avatar without having to resize it. Please check to make sure that all is well with your access and your profiles! Pam will be happy to know that she can change the time zone. But it would be great if everyone can update whatever profile info they want visible. This is a funner place now, don't you think?1 point -

Joke of the Day
Kevin H reacted to phkrause for a topic
Zen Judaism Relinquishment will lead to calm and healing in your relationships. If that doesn't work, try small claims court. Though only your skin, sinews, and bones remain, though your blood and flesh dry up and wither away, yet shall you meditate and not stir until you have attained full Enlightenment. But, first, a little nosh. Accept misfortune as a blessing. Do not wish for perfect health or a life without problems. What would you talk about? Be here now. Be someplace else later. Is that so complicated? There is no escaping karma. In a previous life, you never called, you never wrote, you never visited. And whose fault was that? The Torah says, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." The Buddha says there is no "self." So, maybe you are off the hook.If there is no self, whose arthritis is this? Wherever you go, there you are. Your luggage is another story. Do not let children play contact sports like football. These only lead to injuries and instill a violent, warlike nature. Encourage your child to play peaceful games, like "sports doctor." The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single "oy."1 point -
What is Unity

Pam: Thank you very much for getting the center of Newman's quote. He actually began the quote a paragraph early with: "Christ prayed the His disciples . . . and he ended it a sentence or so later than you did, with: " . . . Worries shall cease and we shall find rest for our souls."1 point -

What is Unity
Kevin H reacted to JoeMo for a topic
Many people confuse unity with uniformity. To me they are different., unity is about agreement on achieving a common goal; and agreement on a general strategy on how to achieve it. Uniformity is about everybody agreeing on everything. An example would of unity would be everyone in the church agreeing to honor the Sabbath and teach the soon-coming of Christ. That is good. Uniformity would be requiring everybody to teach these concepts only using quotes from EGW; excluding all other authors. That would be bad. Pam says it good at the bottom of every post: "If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony"1 point -

Distraction dilemma - The evils of music
JoeMo reacted to Tom Wetmore for a topic
I have noticed that there are a number of "ministries" very similar to this often by recent converts with an entertainment background. The zeal of recent converts is often admirable, but often quite misguided. There is a pendulum effect with many converts swinging from one extreme over to the other. And it is not too unusual for the pendulum to keep swinging from one extreme to another, sometimes on the same opposite side of a topic but more often from one fringe hobby horse idea to a other. On the topic of music, there are a number of more balanced perspectives thankfully. A very helpful book to understand the neurological and psychological effects of music is "This Is Your Brain On Music: The Science of a Human Obsession" by Daniel J. Levitin. The author is uniquely qualified for the topic both as a musician and scientist. Here is his bio from the Amazon website: "Daniel J. Levitin is the James McGill Professor of Psychology and Music at McGill University, Montreal, where he also holds appointments in the Program in Behavioural Neuroscience, The School of Computer Science, and the Faculty of Education. An award-winning teacher, he now adds best-selling author to his list of accomplishments as "This Is Your Brain on Music" and "The World in Six Songs" were both Top 10 best-sellers, and have been translated into 16 languages. Before becoming a neuroscientist, he worked as a session musician, sound engineer, and record producer working with artists such as Stevie Wonder and Blue Oyster Cult. He has published extensively in scientific journals as well as music magazines such as Grammy and Billboard. Recent musical performances include playing guitar and saxophone with Sting, Bobby McFerrin, Rosanne Cash, David Byrne, and Rodney Crowell."1 point -
