    WO

Searcher, here is an issue that you may not understand: The Unions believe that they have the right to determine who in their territory should be ordained. They believe that this right was given to them when they were organized and that the General Conference does not have the right to tell lthem who they can, or cannot, ordain. If this is correct, it is not the Unions that are in rebellion. Rather, it is the General Conference that is in rebellion in assumning a role that it has not been given. Now, you may disagree with this. That is your right. In any case, this is a disagreement. It must and will eventually be settled. The procedure to settle it is complicated and not an easy process. But, until that settlement comes about, it is the choice of the individual Unions to either wait for the settlement, or to proceed until a settlement tells them differently. In the meantime, while the process is taking place, it might be the better part of valor for each side to not accuse the other of being in rebellion. But, if names are going to be called, there is mud that can be thrown by each side at the other.

    America with No Christians

That's an incredibly naive statement. By and large, the Native American tribes worshipped the Great Almighty, the Great Spirit, which was a lot more like the God of the Bible than the "God" of many Christians.

  3. Medicare coverage is the same for all of us.Some do not get better Medicare for less money. Your supplemental can go up or down. Why should one senior citizen offset for another,no offense but I have enough trouble paying for min e without off setting your premium. If you remember one of the lies out of Obama's mouth,Obamacare would not impact seniors, joke. While we are paying slightly more for Prescription D we are getting less. A drug my husband is on is 258.00 without insurance. Before Obama started saving us money we paid a co-pay of 35.00,then last Dec it the co-pay went to 104.00,two mo nths later it was 135.00. Now we pay 158.00 co-pay

There are many things that this church does not need unity in. WO is one of them. This issue is not one that our salvation is based upon. So - let each union do as they please. Do not. I repeat - Do not force one culture or group of people to conform to another's interpretation on this issue. Let each decide for themselves.

From what has the believer been saved?

To be saved from sin itself, does not mean "a life of perfect obedience to the law of God in word, deed and thought". Sin has the power to separate us from God. So, to be saved from sin, simply means sin cannot separate us from God anymore. Sin has the power to makes us its slaves. So, to be saved from sin, means sin cannot have dominion over us anymore. Sin has the power to make us spiritually dead. So, to be saved from sin, means sin cannot make us spiritually dead anymore. In other words, to be saved from the KILLER, simply means the KILLER cannot KILL us anymore. Having been saved from sin, God has EMPOWERED us with the capability to overcome evil with good, yet we remain FREE moral agents capable of choosing between good and evil.

    Dr. Willilam Loveless

Dr. William Loveless, former pastor of two of the largest Adventist churches in North America [sligo in Maryland and Loma Linda University Church in California], also former president of Washington Adventist University and former president of Pennsylvania Conference, has died. There's a lovely tribute to him on the Spectrum Magazine website written by its editor, Bonnie Dwyer. She has a wonderful command of the English language. He was a wonderful preacher; so thoughtful and such a deep Bible student. All I know is that Dr. Loveless was a dear friend of our family. He traveled many miles over hilly mountain roads to perform the wedding of my younger sister in 1965, because of the request of our parents. Then, seven years later, he conducted the funeral service in Loma Linda for my dear father, who had died suddenly while in California for the Loma Linda Medical School Alumni Postgraduate Convention. I'll never forget what Elder Loveless said in that funeral sermon. He quoted the shortest text in the Bible: "Jesus wept" referring to the fact that when some men die, even Jesus weeps. He pointed out how my dad had ministered to his patients all his life and how they were weeping because he had died, even though they were many miles distant at the time. Elder Loveless and his wife were always my friends, even many years later, whenever we would see each other. I'm so sad because I'll be out of state during the time of his memorial service. It's to be held at Loma Linda University Church on Sunday, Sept. 28, at 2 p.m.

    What terrifies ISIS.

Not only that, but it will be the nice Muslims that will suffer backlash from terrorists' actions. I have one good friend who is Muslim. We do discuss spiritual things. Lately I was reading also regarding Yusuf Islam (who used to be Cat Stevens but converted to Islam many years ago). He has done many humanitarian acts and is not for violence but for peace. Not all Muslims are extremists.

For those who do not drink Alcohol.

I just don't drink it. It's not even tempting most of the time. I've never really drank it, although I've tasted it. I have had it in cooking though and cough syrup. I suppose that it does have something to do with how I was raised hearing that the Bible tells us to be sober and avoid strong drink, but I've also grown up and seen things...some of the things that alcohol does to a family. Maybe not even drinking it, but just it being there. But why should it be tempting? I mean, it's bitter and nasty and smells gross. I like to drink sparkling grape juice and sweet apple cider [i think I did have fermented apple cider once, and we didn't know it was fermented until we drank it, but I didn't know the difference, except that it was really bitter, until one of my parents commented on it], and I'll drink them in one of those fancy glasses, and lemonade too. Who needs alcohol?

He did indeed touch many lives. I remember him from the time he was pastor of Sligo Church from visits to my grandparents that live a few blocks from the church. And the he was president of CUC (now Washington Adventist University) during my last two years there. It was a privilege to have known him.

Bright star flashing red, green/blue, white

I was amazed to see a new bright star in the sky early this morning, amazed because I could see it even without my glasses on. I put on my glasses for a better look: turned out to be a reflection of the little light on my smoke alarm.

We have finally bought the CDs but sadly there are some missing stories. My son is working on some sketches to add visuals to the stories and we will post them on our YouTube channels and perhaps interest one of the Adventist channels in them.

    The Paradox of Adventism

OK. I'm a dumb fish. I'll take the bait... And with a worm on my tongue I will anxiously await the rest of the can of worms to be thrown overboard for the rest of us dumb fish to have a snack or worm flesh! According to the gospel of EGW: Pastor/Minister = Messenger EGW = Messenger Sooo... ipso facto, EGW = Pastor/Minister (and visa versa I would suppose...) But wait... there's more... If as she said, she was "more than a prophet" than it only follows that a messenger must be "more than a prophet" and if pastors/ministers are messengers, they each would likewise be "more than a prophet." OK, last bite for now... What exactly does it mean to be "more than a prophet"? Oh, did I forget to mention EGW was therefore a female messenger/pastor/minister.
