Church of Satan- Where do we draw the line?
phkrause and one other reacted to JoeMo for a topic
Joe_in_RP, If you want to do something to fight satanic influence, shine your light into the darkness. By your life and actions, show people that Jesus has more to offer than satan. Take Jesus out of the protective, defensive safety of the church into the front lines. If you want to take the fight to satan, go for it. You want the church to do something - YOU are the church. Start a Bible study, feed and clothe the homeless. Approach people who need support and pray for them. Intercede for those who are unable to pray for themselves. God's best weapons are love and compassion. Use them liberally.2 points -

Christianity in Korea

I am so very glad you gave the link to Korean christian history. As soon as possible I'll pause and read it through. My heart is strongly tied to south Korea for some unexplainable reason. My Sat-Dish picks up a Korean Broadcasting Service channel I watch a lot of with sub-titles in english, of course. There is so much on programs they make that are lovely in showing happy people, great cross-countries trips, and much that causes me to be delighted. No violence, sex, corruption stories or movies that are X-rated.. Good of you to post it.1 point -

From what has the believer been saved?
Woody reacted to Robert for a topic
"There should be less proud self-seeking, less self-importance. When the members of the church are clothed with humility, when they put from them self-esteem and self-seeking, when they seek constantly to do God’s will—then they will work together in harmony." [5T 479] BTW, the law of God doesn't require "less" self-seeking, it requires absolutely no self-seeking. The law of God demands that we love our neighbors as we naturally love ourselves. This can be seen in the following: 1 cor 10:24 "Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth." What is Paul stating? Seeking our own wealth is the essence of iniquity (our bent). Opposite of self-seeking is living for another's wealth, which is harmony with the law of God. Hence there's no self-seeking in God's agape. That's why Jesus, in this world, had nothing (see Luke 9:58). Jesus lived not, thought not of Himself. Since none of us are measuring up to this self-emptying love, Christ had to legally deliver us from under law to under grace. See Romans 7:6 "But now, by dying (in Christ) to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code."1 point -

Simple hygenic practises go far in preventing Ebola (and a lot of other things). We just don't live like they do in Africa. I agree that one day before Jesus comes we can look for at least one dreadful plague of sores but if you have the mark of the beast not even your immunity will save you then.1 point -
Yom Kippur Day of Atonement
LifeHiscost reacted to 8thdaypriest for a topic
There is no Aaronic priesthood ministering at the Temple in Jerusalem, to tell us exactly WHEN the barley harvest was approaching ripeness - to begin the calendar for the year on the New Moon. Different sects of Judaism, or Messianic Judaism/Hebrew Roots are teaching the correctness of different days. THAT should tell us that we need Messiah to return and reset our calendar. I do NOT say that I keep any of the appointed times. I say that I commemorate them - I remember them - and I look forward to keeping them in His kingdom. Even the 7th day Sabbath - is questioned - concerning which day is actually the 7th. Is it the 7th from the New Moon? Is it the 7th in a continuing cycle which began at creation, and was re-established during 40 years of wilderness wandering?? The appointed times were prophecy. They told a story of God's plan for our rescue from Satan's dominion. I think it entirely appropriate that we "remember" and repeat the prophecy taught by each Feast. I will NOT get into arguments about which day is the correct one in today's calendar. It is enough for me to know that my LORD has a plan, and I will be rescued at the time appointed. I think so, JoeMo. Maybe that is what "by beholding we become" means to some degree? There is a peace and joy seeing God work in us both to will and to do, isn't there, LHC?1 point -

Thanks for the great thoughts you posted. I went down to the river yesterday to watch the water flow by. I did not have any bread but it is a fine thought. I really like the thought that it is "a time to spiritually start anew."1 point -

certainly you can read whatever they send you... I specifically posted an example of Natural Health's yellow journalism, taken directly out of your quote : that's ridiculous... anyone who believes that quote never did due diligence by reading the actual pertinent executive orders.... the specific illnesses addressed are: Cholera; Diphtheria; infectious Tuberculosis; Plague; Smallpox; Yellow Fever; Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers; and SARS. The particular EO cited by Natural Health involved SARS... Simply "having the sniffles or coughing in public" is NOT addressed in the EO as a reason for quarantine, nor for the more hysteria-inducing claim of eradication of human life. http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2014/07/31/executive-order-revised-list-quarantinable-communicable-diseases http://www.cdc.gov/sars/quarantine/exec-2004-04-03.html http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2005-04-05/pdf/05-6907.pdf1 point -

that's baloney... (Natural Health is one of the top five worst internet health websites fraught with misinformation and bogus claims. They put in just enough verifiable truth to make entire claims on issues appear legit. But if research is done on the claims, it's very apparent that much of it is only sensationalist unverifiable nonsense.) http://medreview.wordpress.com/2013/02/24/108/1 point
