    please watch what you write..

Part of the problem is requests for prayer for another person when the person being prayed for may not have wanted the issues known. Better to ask first if the person wants to be put on an internet prayer list. I've learned not to request online prayer for myself unless in a vague sort of way, because for at least a year after you have people giving you advice on handling an issue that has long been in the past.

How the Ancients May Have Built Terraces

It can be interesting to find out that gardening does not need to be labor intensive according to those who have discovered "no dig" systems. Mulch, wait, pull back mulch and dig hole for plant in the now-workable soil, watch a great garden grow. I tend to watch the snails and slugs proliferate, tho with my handy water and ammonia to dump them in. This is still labor intensive, but lets water do some of the work. Build a Rice Paddy By Rick Groleau Posted 12.18.00 NOVA Terraced rice paddies, masterpieces of ancient engineering, have existed in China, the Philippines, and elsewhere for as long as two millennia. The building of these stepped paddies—done without the aid of machinery—is no minor undertaking. How, then, do farmers construct them? Here, follow the evolution of a new paddy. Launch Interactive Printable Version See how farmers have traditionally constructed elegant and sturdy terraces for growing rice. This feature originally appeared on the site for the NOVA program Japan's Secret Garden. Primary source: Ethnographic Atlas of Ifugao, by Harold C. Conklin. New Haven: Yale University Press, 1980.

    Recent Book on the Trinity

God gave His only begotten Son. Why call Him the Son if He was NOT actually the Son. SDA Trinitarians who believe that God is three co-equal, co-eternal beings DO NOT BELIEVE that Jesus was/is actually "the Son" of God. They believe that He took the role of a Son, and the one we call "the Father" took the role of Father, and the Holy Spirit took the role of comforter. I actually BELIEVE that Jesus was/is the Son - the literal offspring - of God. Respectfully, Rachel Cory Prophecy Viewpoint

    Recent Book on the Trinity

There are many verses where God the Father is called the "God of" Christ Jesus. The definitely place the Father ABOVE Christ the Son. HIS FATHER, AND HIS GOD John 20:17 “Jesus said to her, ‘Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’” Romans 15:6 “ ... that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 “But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,” 2 Corinthians 11:31 “The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is blessed forever, knows that I am not lying.” Ephesians 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,” Ephesians 1:17 “ ... that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,” Colossians 1:3 “We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,” Hebrews 1:9 “You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness [the Holy Spirit] more than Your companions.” 1 Peter 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” Revelation 1:6 “ ... and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 3:12 “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.” God the Father of all, was the Father OF Jesus Christ, and was also "the God" of Jesus Christ. This - for me - shows hierarchy. John 10:18 "I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father." The word "power" here is authority. Matthew 28:18 "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." (NKJ) The authority was given to Christ BY His Father. I like the NIV. John 10:18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father." (NIV) It was NOT "power" in the sense of an innate ability to raise Himself from the dead. Jesus did NOT raise Himself from death. His Father raised Him. Acts 3:15 “ ... and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.” (Acts 4:10) Acts 13:30 “But God raised Him from the dead.” Acts 17:31 “ ... because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.” Romans 4:24 “It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead,” Romans 6:4 “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.” Romans 8:11 “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Romans 10:9 “ ... that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Galatians 1:1 “Paul, an apostle not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father who raised Him from the dead,” Ephesians 1:17-20 “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,” 1Thessalonians 1:10 “ ... and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.” 1 Peter 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” [see also Romans 6:9, Romans 7:4, Colossians 2:12] God our Father has also given to Christ the authority to judge. John 5:22 "The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, (ESV) Blessings, Rachel Cory Prophecy Viewpoint

WO issue not only in SDA church

The problem is that there are 3 camps or arguments. One camp supports women's ordination, but they are in churches which do not stand firmly on the Bible. They are the arguments that the second camp, those who oppose women's argument, look at and limit the discussion to those arguments and equate supporting women's ordination with liberal theology and their lack of a firm standing on the Bible. However the third camp is that in recent decades there has been more knowledge of the Bible. The understanding of the significance of the blue thread in the clothes that the Pentateuch commanded the people to wear. Other Old Testament arguments that I am not proficient enough in to clearly share. The debate over women's ordination in Jesus' day and the story of Mary and Martha in light of that debate. Studies in the Acts and writings of Paul, such as the linguistics of Pricilla and Aquila. Finally, the big key texts used against Women's Ordination has some major contextual problems (both linguistic and cultural) that indicate that those who use them against ordaining women are taking the texts out of context and is akin to using the thief on the cross story to say that the dead go right to heaven.

Now I've no idea what you're talking about. The Acts 15 argument was about physical circumcision, and allowing the believing Gentiles to join with Jewish believers WITHOUT this. I do NOT teach that physical circumcision is necessary for salvation. I do believe that Jesus "came forth from the Father". He was therefore completely and perfectly DIVINE prior to His incarnation, whereupon He took the nature of Abraham, and "emptied Himself" of divine powers. When He "ascended to the Father" - to sit at the Father's right hand, He was glorified, and His divine powers were returned to Him. While He lived on the earth - He lived as a man among men. Any miracles were done through Him, by His Father. Acts 2:22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know--" (NKJ) "the Father who dwells in Me does the works" (John 14:10). In order to recover the dominion for mankind, Jesus must live as a man. He must overcome as a man. He WAS indwelt by the Spirit of His Father from the moment of His birth. In that sense He had an advantage. But He was also given a much more severe TEST than any one of us will ever be called upon to pass. Hope that clarifies my position. Church of Satan- Where do we draw the line?

Even though Israel had a king at the time this was written it was still basically a theocracy. The nation was dedicated to God, and explicitly formed by God. All that went away at the cross. Do you propose we adopt something like Sharia law and kill anyone who breaks it such as Islam says should happen? Should we be cutting off the hands of thieves? Should we mandate the subjection of women? Should we have a priesthood like the Israelites who run the government? Should we take over the government and force our will on all other people? Do you really think you live in a theocracy?

Church of Satan- Where do we draw the line?

Joe_in_RP, If you want to do something to fight satanic influence, shine your light into the darkness. By your life and actions, show people that Jesus has more to offer than satan. Take Jesus out of the protective, defensive safety of the church into the front lines. If you want to take the fight to satan, go for it. You want the church to do something - YOU are the church. Start a Bible study, feed and clothe the homeless. Approach people who need support and pray for them. Intercede for those who are unable to pray for themselves. God's best weapons are love and compassion. Use them liberally.

ahhh, now that's a point. Romans 1 as you posted did indeed classify gossip along with all the evil traits of the wicked ones who gave up on God and deny Him. I believe it is malicious character hurting gossip mentioned in the list. You know, that type which is half true and half lie but told with the intent of putting the person down. The persons referred to in Romans 1 are the real debased wicked even though a number of items mentions we ourselves are guilty of now and again. But thank God for the state of walking in the path of sanctification that those black stains get wash away through fellowship with our Lord.
