Hymns and Praise music
RudyEnext reacted to aka for a topic
When doing PC work I have background music of God-praise coming out of my speakers. I use my IE browser for the URL because it seems to automaticly connect with Windows Media Player. Then I minimise the player and adjust the sound level. I close down the browser because it is not necessarily needed. I jump around to other browsers or just keep up the on-going organisation of folders and files I've been doing. http://www.hymnsandfavorites.com/haf.asx1 point -

Meet Ben Carson: First Republican to Throw His Hat in 2016 Ring Nov 6, 2014, 1:01 PM ET By SHUSHANNAH WALSHE SHUSHANNAH WALSHE More From Shushannah » Yes, the 2016 race for the White House has already gotten started -- and it looks like Dr. Ben Carson is first in the ring. Carson, a famous pediatric neurosurgeon and conservative political star, will air a nearly 40 minute-long ad introducing himself to the American people this weekend, an aide to Carson confirms to ABC News. The documentary titled “A Breath of Fresh Air: A New Prescription for America” will air in 22 states and Washington, DC. The paid video will detail some of his biography and family life, including his rise from being born to a single mother with a poor childhood in Detroit to director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins for almost 40 years, known for his work separating conjoined twins, to potential 2016 presidential candidate. How 6 Potential 2016 GOP Presidential Candidates Fared on the Campaign Trail Carson first became a conservative star when last year he created a buzz at the National Prayer Breakfast when in front of an audience that included President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden spoke out about political correctness, health care and taxes. He also called for a private health care savings plan and a flat tax in a speech that went viral and led to an editorial in the Wall Street Journal titled Ben Carson for President. He is known as a fierce opponent of the president’s health care law known as Obamacare. In an ABC News/Washington Post poll from last month of the potential 2016 presidential candidates showed Carson in seventh place garnering seven percent of the vote after other notables including Jeb Bush, Mike Huckabee, Chris Christie, and Marco Rubio. Carson has a grassroots effort to draft him for a 2016 presidential run that has raised millions for the effort. In an interview last month with Jorge Ramos on our sister network, Fusion he said he’s considering a White House run. “No, I don’t want to be president. Why would any sane person want to do that?” Carson said, acknowledging he has noticed the support. “I think I have to consider that, with so many clamoring for me to do it.” The Washington Times first reported the news of Carson’s video. A production company run by Armstrong Williams, a conservative commentator, is paying for the airtime. They also filmed the documentary. Williams is Carson’s business manager.1 point -

Where do yo draw the line though? I've mentioned a whole range of problems in churches. For example. Not taking care of your body is a sin. Gluttony is a sin. There are plenty of people who are obese and overweight. Would you say that we are not doing anyone a favors to say that you can be a member while being obese? The question really about singling out convenient conditions that are generally not prevalent in the church as a whole. Where do you draw the line?1 point -

Good point. But I would urge everyone to actually see and listen to the sermon rather than taking someone else's word for it...1 point -

Just because I do not condone sin as a lifestyle (hence practice righteousness) does not make me righteous as Christ is righteous. I am righteous by faith! Meaning, "in Christ" I stand positively righteous. Of myself I fall short of the glory of God (see Romans 3:23)1 point -

I too was initially skeptical of the claim of a relation of accepting Woman Ordination and then “surely” also accepting Homosexuality. I though that this was merely a scare tactic from the opposed side.... (And the presence of OT precedence of women as (Chief) Judge and Prophets is indeed what warrants that God can, in the NT, also use women for the topmost positions in His Israel...and there are no “priestly” positions in the New Covenant, everyone, whether male or female, can directly go to God to have their sins dealt with, and not to a priest). See more on this WO topic here ...But this abhorrent demonstration by Jonathan Henderson is indeed what the WO-opposed side had claimed, most tellingly by JH using the same example of “God letting Israel have a king” to justify that change. Then there are all of the other mind-boggling ways that the current SDA pro-sides such so amateurishly and shoddingly, even proof-textingly, twist and claim Scriptures for their position. But what differentiates the issues here is that in the OT/Law, God had long and clearly prepared for Israel wanting to have a King (Deut 17:14-20). There is no such “Divine Provision” by God in the entire Bible, OT or NT, for practising homosexuality. Indeed only many clear expressions against practising it!1 point -

And that will be the most merciful thing to do. Mercy does not force repentance. I think we err when we bind forgiveness and repentance. God forgives. We are to repent. God never fails to forgive, for He has already forgiven before we even know it or respond. We may refuse to turn around and accept it.1 point -

Gerry, you ask what will happen in the end to those who have not repented: In the end God will accept their choice not to spend eternity with Him. God will allow them to go their own way and the way, which is apart from God will have the consequence of death as life is not possible apart from God.1 point -
From what has the believer been saved?
LifeHiscost reacted to Aliensanctuary for a topic
Posted by myself under the wrong topic elsewhere, more or less: Both Adam and Eve were assaulted telepathically by the Evil One, and once their defenses were breached, they could no longer be trusted by their Creator. They, along with their descendants, would always be attacked and harassed by telepathic demonic forces, as we see today. In order to withstand the full-blown assault on our minds in the Last Days, we must understand the Kingdom of YHVH and prepare ourselves by fiercely resisting evil thoughts and actions and maintaining communion with our Creator. In order to stand before YHVH, we must be stronger than Adam and Eve were. His simple commandments are not impossible for humans to obey. The real problem is that we are in a drunken stupor with the cares of this life: money, work, sex, food, entertainment, etc. I believe that we should each make a contract, or covenant, with YHVH to help us resist our selfishness, weaknesses, telepathic temptations from demons, and our tendency to overindulge. If we can resist the unsanctified pleasures of this world now, we will be in a much stronger position to resist the deceptions of the Evil One during the time of testing, mentioned in Rev. YHVH won't magically turn us into "saints", rather, we must battle our own extreme selfishness within. Once others have become more important than we are, once YHVH's law's are in our thoughts daily, we have made a little progress.1 point -
From what has the believer been saved?

“….For by grace you have been saved by faith”. Saved from what? From the justly deserved penalty for sinning against the law of God. If it wasn’t for Jesus I’d still be carrying that burden of being condemned before God. Because of my conscious acceptance of His vicarious substitute for my penalty I am free from the condemnation. I thank Him even now constantly! I personally can bear witness to coming up out of my baptismal waters and being imbued with His holy Spirit. It wasn’t an emotional feeling. It was a knowing. It was no instantaneous state of perfection I was in during my early months and years as a new creature in Christ. It was a growing in sanctification to be more and more like Jesus. I had much mental and emotional healing to go through. I had to be taught the essence of remaining humble before Him and others. I was very rebellious and showed much disobedience. However, His love worked a miracle in me to learn the sound of His voice above the voice of the evil-one and I grew into a moral-being worshipping God in spirit and in truth. I keep my good deeds under wraps and don’t boast of them. The Lord has them in His book. When I do sin I have an advocate in heaven that pleads my cause to the Father. If I sin and am not convinced I sinned, the holy Spirit needs to convict me of such. I don’t know if the blood of Christ cleanses me by default in such incidences. To overcome temptation is also the work of His Spirit, to be sure. But there comes a matter of will-power on the behalf of the Christian person being touched with temptation, imo. That is something in the realm of theology I am not sure about. That is the question. Does God’s Spirit overcome sin in our life without our co-operation? Romans 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 2 Timothy 1:9 He has saved us and called us to a holy life.1 point -

And don't forget Ellen White because she agrees with Paul: Perfection through our own good works we can never attain. The soul who sees Jesus by faith, repudiates his own righteousness. He sees himself as incomplete (even though growing in grace), his repentance insufficient, his strongest faith but feebleness, his most costly sacrifice as meager, and he sinks in humility at the foot of the cross. But a voice speaks to him from the oracles of God's word. In amazement he hears the message, "Ye are complete in him." (that's the imputed righteousness of Christ) Now all is at rest in the soul (because you have peace through justification by faith). No longer must he strive to find some worthiness in himself, some meritorious deed by which to gain the favor of God {ST, 2:497}.1 point -

Teresaq, Your previous few posts have spoken to my heart, As I have been contemplating the meaning of Yom Kippur, I have been considering the same things you speak of. Have I experienced victory in every area of personal weakness? No; but I seem to be experiencing more frequently than I was trying to do it on my own. The more time I spend time "hanging out" with my Father and His Son,the less time I spend obsessing over my pet issues. When Paul says to pray continually, could He just mean "hang out" with God?1 point
